During my clutch inspection I found two steels that had lips along the outer perimeter on one side that the adjacent friction fits nicely into. These aren’t mentioned anywhere in the manuals I found, do they go in a special location in the stack? The frictions were all within spec so I reassembled as it came apart and flipped the spring washers so the raised area was nestled inside the spring, lowering the effecting preload pressure on the springs. Clutch is a lightswitch, I’m hoping to get more progressiveness in its action…. Thoughts? Skiddy

Took muffler off during my inspection on the new to me bike and the o rings were hard broken junk. I’m trying to wrap my head around how the new ones will go on. Do they go on the Ti header first, then slide the muffler on, hoping they go into their prospective grooves? Seems optimistic at best…..

Hi How is the tank vent tube routed on your bikes? Ive always just tucked the little tube into the top of the tank cover but if I get a overflow, the fuel runs down the clutch hose and throttle cable causing dirt and dust to stick everywhere. What I did now was stick the tube into the carb overflow tube that is routed up under the tank cover. It should breath ok and if it overflows it will flow into carb and then flow out the bottom of the bike. Do you see any issues with this or how is your bike tube routed?

Having an issue with my 14 evo. Seems to run good if i rev it up a bunch and clean it out. But I’ll idle around and run it in the low rpm’s and it just runs extremely blubbery up top. Like when the bikes just been started and try to give it a bunch of throttle. I’ve gone one down on the main. I’m in the top clip. Air screw is out. Cleaned the air filter 2x I’ve sort of tried running it with the air filter out but I’ll have to test it better than just my parkade. Any other reason I could be having this issue or is this just normal?

I have a Beta TR34 that has a sticky clutch on first use. After the bike has sat for a day, when I first start the bike, the clutch will not disengage. The bike will lurch forward when you first put it in gear with the clutch pulled in. After that first lurch, which almost always stalls the motor, I can start it again and all is well. The clutch acts fine other than that. Any ideas on what might cause this? When I physically inspected the clutch by pulling it apart, it looks ok.

A 91 beta (Zero?) just came up locally for $1800. Price seems a little high but it looks pretty clean. He says it needs a new throttle tube, rear brake bleader and rear wheel bearings. Is there anything I should look for with these bikes. I know nothing about beta's.

I'm new to trials and am looking for a "starter" bike. A dealer who specializes in Trials bikes has a 1991 Beta Zero 260. Price is @ $1800US. He backs all his used bikes and rates this one as "8.5 Mechanical". I'm inclined to purchase from a dealer - especially a one specializing in trials bikes - rather than from an individual. How does this model stack up as a bike to start out on?
