Hi all, Well..I've just taken the barrel off my 02 Beta Rev3 250. Mostly because last time I rode it, it was making a strange rubbing noise from the top of the engine. I thought one of the rings might have broken or something and also assumed it was time I changed the piston rings anyway. SO..the barrel is off, and all looks well on the inside, but just wondered if any of you had any tips for cleaning the top of piston..(whats the best thing too clean it with). Also, ..should the arm? that holds the piston be a brown colour. Its almost a rusty kind of colour...not what I expected. Sorry if any of this is vague. First time I've taken the head of ANY bike!! Thanks for a…

Hi there Im new to this trials riding malarky, having only had a go last friday on my mates Fantic 200, this prompted me to get my own as I had seen the proverbial light, so I got a Beta TR35. It has a few issues which need to be sorted though. Where do people recommend getting there spares from? Have discovered it needs new front wheel bearings, new fork seals (upside down fork seals on a trials bike, who's silly idea was that?!!!) and thats about it i think. Today i went to ride it and all was going well until it died and stubbornly refused to start...luckily Id reached the top of the hill by then. Ive checked the spark, theres good compression and fuels going in, …

Hi guys! After almost 10 years with enduros (HS, GNCC and 'special events'), I decided to explore the trials world more. My last races tended to be much trials anyway (like Erzberg), so I was thinking, what the heck, it sure doesn't hurt getting better so I can return to those extreme enduros even better skilled. Anyway, I picked up this used '07 Beta rev3 270cc, and it seems to be in ok shape. The prev owner put approx 100 hours on it (maybe some more), and hasn't replaced anything on the bike. However, after reading a couple of nights here on the forum, I was thinking I could find some solutons to my "issues": 1. Clutch drags 2. Clutch is slipping in 6th (not other …

Guys, A couple of things I need help with please, is the nut holding the clutch basket a left or right hand thread, only its really tight and I don't want to break anything! I am trying to split the engine so that I can check bearings and change seals, I have the engine out and taken out the bolts on the right (stator) side, the engine doesn't want to come apart, do you have to take off all the stuff on the clutch side? gearbox etc? and should the engine come apart easily (without persuasion?) I hope someone can help please, cheers Tone.

We've all been there.....Just rebuilt my 2012 factory 300 after renewing the main bearings and I have a mysterious bolt left over! I can't for the life of me figure out where it goes!! The bolt is an M6x10 with an 8mm flanged head. It also has a copper washer. I believe I have located it in the parts book, but am still non the wiser as to its location!! The only other clue I have is that the head of the bolt looks as though is has dirt on it, suggesting it lives on the outside of the cases. In the parts book it is listed on the same page as the gear selector shaft and drum. There seems to be two options for the bolt, and the number is either 31 or 33. And the washer i…

  9. As per the title, I'm grappling with carb setup and wonder if anyone has recommendations? I am generally riding the bike between 1,000m and 2,500m altitude (3000ft to 6,000ft). Bike currently has the UK standard of 48 pilot jet and 110 main. I'm not sure what needle it has or what clip setting it is on, but next time I am in there, I'll take a look. Appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.

Hi all I've just purchased what I believed to be a 1999 250 Techno, but upon checking the frame number I now believe it is a 270. My question is, does anybody know of a way of confirming it is a 270? I've been told that you can measure the exhaust port, but I can't seem to find any data to compare my measurements against? Also, any links to a 270 parts manual would be much appreciated. Cheers

Hey all, I've installed a Tachometer [Hardline Hour/Tach] onto my Beta but the RPM it's showing is way off. When I touch the wire in any mode (near the spark plug end) with my fingers it drops by a factor of x2. Am I missing something? It's an induction type that just wraps around the spark plug lead. The tach supports the following modes: 1 pulse = 1 revolution 2 pulses = 1 revolution 1 pulse = 2 revolutions RPM shown in the following mode: 1 pulse = 1 revolution (4000rpm) 2 pulses = 1 revolution (2000rpm) (drops to 1000 rpm, when wires are touched) 1 pulse = 2 revolutions (8000rpm) Any ideas? If you are currently using a tach/hour mete…

Why do they have it and not a normal gravity fed fuel tap? What does it do different and how does it work? As far as I know it doesn't have a fuel pump and is just a normal carbed bike

Hi. New to this site, but I've read forums here a bunch of times. Looking for any ideas on why my bike is so hard to start, and suggestions on how to fix the problem. I just bought a 2000 beta rev3 250 last week. When i went to get it the guy was working on it. He said he went to start out before i got there, but it wouldn't start. I looked it over and figured out what the problem was and offered him less money. Water had gotten under the stator cover and rusted things. I cleaned it all up and that fixed no spark problem. The hydraulic clutch wasn't working engaging all the way. I fixed that. Then it was back firing. The next day ( today) it kept dying. I figur…

Can someone please tell me where I can find a full rear silencer protector/cover to fit a 2013 Beta Evo 250 4T? I have checked the Trials Store, Trials Superstore and RYP. They seem to be an endangered species. Or, will a silencer protector for a 09-14 Evo 2T fit my 4T?

I read somewhere once that someone manufactures an 80cc kit for the Rev50. Does anybody know if this really exists and who sells it ? Cheers, Jim

  20. Started by bikerpet,

I posted this in the General Forum, but thought I might link it in here as it is also specific to Beta. I had a complete failure of a recently installed All-Balls linkage kit in my Evo. Originally I thought it was due to poor quality bearings however I'm now left wondering if installation tools and technique wasn't at least partly to blame.
