Don't have any history for this engine, but it starts and runs well. Really nice for approx the first 1/3, but isn't keen to keep going. I don't think it's carburation as it runs so well at the bottom. I'm going to check the timing first. It's had a new plug with no difference. How about disc valve timing ? The engine originally was from an Aprilia, but is running with a SWM air box and exhaust. Don't thing either are part of the problem ? Also don't think/hope that's it electrical, unless anyone has had similar experiences. Thanks in advance. Ross

Thought I was paying too much as Ebay ad said it didn't run,but by the time I did the "Buy It Now" he'd got it going.Engine sounds terrific! Runs beauty! So Smooth, quietest running 2stroke I've ever heard :-) Gonna need alot of tweaking to get it as effective as My Fantic 240,but progress is already being made, have clutch down to easy two finger/OKay but distracting 1 finger action, will try taking out a couple of clutch springs next.Brakes are strong, rims round, tires hard as stone ;-) no oil in forks, rear shocks leaking from not being ridden. Footpegs are miserable, will cut those pristine mounts and never tweaked(Or even come in contact with anything other than a bootsol…

Hi All, I just bought a 1982 TL320, and would like to change the fluids. I searched the web, but wasn't able to find the info. So the question is, how much oil for the gearbox; and how much oil for the Betor forks? Thanks.

Just finished the istall on third SWM of OKO carb. The bikes were 2 1982 280s and a 1983 240. the 240 had a stock airbox and pipe and the inprovement was huge.bike pulls from idle to full revs with no flat spots. The 280s run tons better with no problems, one stock the other has a modified rear box. Also noticed after first trial the bike used less gas than before.I also am using 2 different size OKOs on one of my xc bikes. It has a 280 rotax motor and for the tight tracks i run a 30 mm carb and its a tractor .On more open tracks I install a 32 mm and it runs down 450 4 strokes.Have to thank Roger at MAVT.org for the carbs and tuning help.

  8. Hi, following on from my road registrations thread, I was looking at my Gori and it has some signs it was registered at some point: The full format of the frame number is *MT325*1331xx* am going to try the DVLA (as I was born in Yorkshire and am too tight to pay for a HPI) to see if they can find a record for it but does anybody have one that was registered from new as I wondered if the full frame number is given on the log book or just the last 6 digits? Many thanks

I have been searching for a while for a good quality steel SWM/ Gori tank for a red and white Gunaco. It appears they are almost unobtainable in good condition so... There seems to be a few of the later yellow acerbis plastic tanks around so could someone tell me if its at all possible to repaint these to a good durable standard or am I going to have to keep looking. On this note I have come across a firm that will make new tanks to order if they have enough to make it worthwhile around 8/10 at a price of around 300 stg anybody fancy making up an order. Thanks

Finally started to pull apart my 81 PECO 200 SWM . Not many of these were made, Not even sure if any others have survived out there. It was a small company called "Performance Equip CO" here in the UK that modified the std 125 SWM trials , I believe 6 were made, but some of this is just folklore, would love to hear more snippets about the history of these if anyone really knows .. Any way I've owned it from Circa 1985, Although my memorys not as good as it was, and apologies in advance for the fuzzy photos. And Yes it was a black frame model when it was first made... As I'm going to restore it I thought I'd put up some pictures…

After moving the pegs down and back, the next hurdle was the brake pedal. It was quite a mind boggle to fabricate a lever that could be covered whilst still being planted on the footpeg. What made ir even more of a challange was the lack of space available due to having a swingarm from a TX 300 Aprilia fitted. Anyway, after a few tries and mods it now works 'Like' the original and I'm happy.

Can an old engine develop more power ? I put a new to me Rotax 240 engine into a SWM several months ago, it ran OK. I haven't changed the timing or carb, but have repacked the middle box and changed the back box. The increase in power wasn't instant, just a gradual improvement. The previous exhaust wasn't full of oil etc. One suggestion is the disc valve is sealing better ? Any thoughts or am I just imagining it ?

  19. Nice old Jumbo that came online here yesterday. Just thought I would share the pics and humorous wording...! Obviously not a trials rider, garage looks like it needs a tidy. Bike has nothing to do with me..! "Humorous Description" "It will start and purr great very fast! Nothing wrong besides that it sat a while so there is a stuck clutch so when you come check it out you can only start it in neutral, you can put it in gear but clutch plates are stuck so there is no slowing down until you cut off the power ha ha ha meant for trials it is lightweight and super powerful..!" Cheers Chaps Motosinge83
