SWM

My TL320 was running great one day, and the next, it wouldn't start. I suspected a bad condensor, since they tend to die suddenly. So I installed a new condensor, and new points as long I was already inside the flywheel. Sadly, still no spark. So I'm down to either a stator that produces no power, or a bad coil. Presumably, I should be able to kick the bike over with a meter attached to the blue wire that feeds the coil, and measure (pulsating) power there. right? If there is no power, then I have a bad stator (or a shorted/ broken wire) If I have power there, but still no spark, then my coil is bad, correct? Thanks for all the help, gang! The points on my TL320 look a little corroded, so I'd like to replace them. Anyone know of a source in the US for these parts? Common with a snowmobile, or ultralight maybe? I also need the flywheel puller. Will the "MOTION PRO FLYWHEEL PULLER SKI DOO ROTAX CDI IGNITION, 62-2037", fit? Looks like it has lots of options on the hole spacings, but I can't find the dimensions listed. It's pretty pricey, so I would hate to buy it, just to find out it doesn't fit. Any other sources for a puller? Stupid question: is the flywheel nut a "normal" thread, or reverse thread? Hi Guys, has anyone knowledge about the early seats on the first gunaco bikes ? My TL 320 Gunaco has a thickly polsterd single seat with SWM Logo in it. I´ve looked for pictures etc. of other ones and they all have the new sort which is much thiner and harder. The bike has following details that can still be read TL / 111179 / 00007 the rest has gone with the years but it must be a quite early one as it has 34 mm forks before they changed to 35 mm. Looking at a picture of the long ride version it seems this had a simular thick seat but was just a bit longer.

I have a 1980 SWM TL320 that I have a new seat for. The old one was strapped on. Anyone have a good way to mount the seat and be able to take it off easy to work on filter? This one doesn’t have the quick release because at one time it had a metal tank. Thanks

Dear all, I have just found an Aprilia TXR312 from ’88, used for competition for the first 5 years or so, then stored (or forgotten) for most of the 25 years until today. Is that Rotax engine an easy transplant to an early (1981) SWM 320? If so, is such a transplant OK and within the spirit of modern twinshock rules, like electronic ignition, modern fork internals and so on…? Or should this Aprilia better be stored for another couple of years, waiting for the hype of early air-cooled monoshock bikes …? Please, tell me what you think of all this! I've got a copy of the US (I think!) importers user manual that came with my Speedy, sort of real world set-up guide. It's not much, a few pages but does a decent job of describing some of the maintenance jobs and set up from actual useage. Quite amusing in places too. If anyone wants a copy I'll scan and post to site.....if I can work my new fangled printer/copier from hell...it means I may need to read the 'destructions' and for a man this will be the ultimate embarassment! Hi, has anybody out there had problems with Venhill cables ? I ordered clutch, throttle and frontbrake cables for my 81 125 and 320 and have had the following problems. The brake cables were too short and could not be fitted to the bikes any way even though the cables listed were for Marzocchi forks. The throttle cables fit as long as you only connect one end. The inner is too short or the outer too long on both, whichever way you look at it. The brake cable issue has been solved. Venhill changed them, no problem but now I'm trying to get the throttle cable problem solved. The picture shows the throttle end with the carb end in place. Even when all of the…

we all know the whys and wherefores, and risks of late nite beer and evil bay.... just bought a 320 here, 1980,......"runs perfectly"........ soulds like a tractor on one cylinder were can i get pistons, (nikasil bore?) and a conrod kit? what about airbox and carb rubbers? Martin M?? any idea what a fulll engine rebuild will cost? Anybody recommend anyone to do it. i can only split fanny cos the gearbox doesnt fall all over the place....

I'm planning a trip next weekend to Moab, Utah, an area with lots of choices of trails, some of them very rough, technical trails with lots of obstacles to challenge a trials bike. I'm trying to determine which trails I can practically expect to ride without running out of fuel, but the TL320 is new to me, and I don't yet know how far I can go on a tank of fuel. How far does YOUR TL320 go on a tankful?

Hi, Im in the process of rebuilding the wheels on my 81 TLNW 320. What I forgot to do before stripping them was to check if the rim was in the middle of the hub or offset to one side. Anybody able to help ? Thanks, Phil

Shortly after I bought my TL320, I saw a website with an animation, demonstrating how the air/fuel mixture makes its way from the carb into the cylinder through the disc valve and crankcase. Now, of course, when I want to show it to a friend, I can't find it again. If anyone knows where I can find the animation again, I'd sure appreciate a link! Thanks, Ted
