OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by bostit,

Looking for a bit of help with my sons 20R. Little used 2015 model, bought it a couple of months ago with LiPo battery already fitted, last ridden about 10 days ago. Plugged in the charger this morning and it was flashing to indicate an error! Checked battery voltage - 51V. When the battery is connected to the bike, the bike can be switched on the power lights illuminate on the throttle for a moment and then the power relay drops out. I've checked voltage too and from the key switch 51V, too and from the handlebar switch 51V and to the controller 51V until it shuts down. I have 51V each side of the main fuse and I have 51V supply onto the relay until it switches off…

Hi I recently bought an Oset 16.0 36v (second hand) for my 7 yr old son. I've tried it out myself in the back garden but it goes quite slow (with power up full) up a fairly gentle slope (not much more than walking pace) with me on it (I'm about 80kg I guess). I've charged the batteries and they take charge ok. they are all reading 12.7 volts. Is that too low, i.e. are the batteries done? I guess they should all be reading about 13 v if they're in very good condition? Other than the batteries being low is there any reason the bike would go slow (chain seems to be ok). THere is some resistance when I push the bike; I can feel the poles of the motor; is that norm…

  4. I'm looking at these bikes used and haven't been able to find many answers about this. I see used bikes listed at around $3,500. From what little info I could find, the battery packs cost $800-1,200 and wear out in a few years. If that is true, that price isnt really a discount if the bike is a couple years old. Is that info accurate? Also is the battery pack easily swappable? Seems like that would be a nice way to keep riding vs putting it up for the day. Thanks.

Newbie here, just joined forum. Just purchased brand new OSET 12.5 for my little 4yr old boy for christmas, he did have PW50 last year with stabilisers but had so many crashes due to the stabiolisers he ended up too scared to ride it so ended up selling it. He had a quick try out on oset 12.5 and loved it so used the money from the pw and some extra for xmas and purchased a new one. He has all the clothing and boots from when he had pw but would like to purchase a childs trials helmet as the one he has is an mx full face helmet, does anyone in south west area sell them as i would rather him try it on than guess and buy one from the internet. Many thanks...

  10. I am giving my 3.5 year old grandson an OSET 12r and I an wondering what tire pressure folks are using and any other set up tips (not that he'll notice at first!). Also, since he is skilled on hs balance bicycle, my plan was to pull the pegs off for the first ride and let him get used to it, then put the pegs on a day later or so. Thoughts on this or any other suggestions on making his transition easier? Thanks, Ward

  13. Hi, Has anyone tried the above on a Mecatecno? Mecatecno only do the standard teeny-tiny chain which Adam has just snapped. The logical choice seems the heavy duty Oset one but looking to see if 1: the sprocket fits and 2: the chain is the right length for a. Mecatecno. Trials UK were very helpful but couldn't guarantee either fit. Or correct chain length. Anyone know anything?

My boy Max has been riding his 16" Oset since March. He is 7 yrs old and weighs 50lbs with gear. Running the potentiometer wide open only delivers roughly 1.5 hrs ride time. We bought a spare battery from Ian and his support has been top notch. What are others finding for battery life? My boy loves the bike and rides it all the time.

  15. I recently purchased from Facebook marketplace a 2010 OSET 16 24v. I think? The controller has a born on date of 2010. I bought a 48-72v step down to 24v 40a converter. I use a ego 56v batteries which can put out 50amps. It works fantastic, with a little better performance then stock due to lithium battery. My question is, is there anyone with experience putting more volts to the controller then 24v? Looking to get a little more out of it's performance. Thank you again for all the support. I didn't even think I would get an answer. I got a discussion! Gonna stick with what it is setup as now. Hope he hits a growth spurt soon.

Has anyone gone from 24v to 36v ? My son is 8 and has been riding his 16.0 24v for more then 2 years. He rides well but finds it hard to lift the front wheel. Does the 36v. have much more torque making it easier to lift the front wheel ? Thanks.

The boys oset 12.5 24v was charging while I was working on my bike, it's a std oset running yuasa batteries which charges by pluggjng into the bike. Anyway, I was wearing shorts and my leg brushed really, really lightly on the footrest and I could feel the electrical current. When I tried it with the palm of my hand I couldn't feel anything, it could be felt using the back of my hand. Is this normal? If not, what may be causing the problem

  20. Hi See attached pics from the recent strip down of my little ones OSET it was cheap due to being left in the rain being uncared for by its first owner. It worked fine which is a testament to the bikes reliability but it needed a restoration so rather than forking out the $$$ for a new 2015 model daddy hit ebay! Rebuild pics to follow!
