Just picked up a brand new Beta EVO 300 Factory with kick starter on left side of motor. This is a new one for me. Being 65 years old my kick starting oomf aint quite what it once was. Tried to start it today, no luck. I am looking for some tips. Is it better to stand over it and use right leg or stand off it and use right leg? Thank you

Hi, So today I had my 1st ride of any bike with gears it was a bit of an eye opener I got on ok I suppose I just wanted to do the basics start and stop, however I had a bit of an issue letting go of the throttle when my weight shifted back and ending up with the bike in a ditch and me thrown over the bars 😂

My self-modified trials special has insufficient fork lock. I have ground off the fork stops until the fork legs almost touch the frame. The bike is supposed to have 45 degrees but it doesn't - close but not quite. Probably not the best fork trail for trials either. So, doing full lock turns, a requirement our local trials masters love to require, is difficult. I am working on decreasing the turning radius by leaning into it with my substantial butt as counterbalance. I am told to not dip my shoulder (which one?) and to look at where I want to go (over my shoulder?). There is no way I can move the front or rear around - I only have 'both tires planted' skills. Fl…

Hello. I Just start to jap zap. I want explain what Is for me because I saw that someone call It in a different way: it's when I hit whit front wheel the obstacle, and just After I Quick release clutch ans gas and Jump with bike ans body. The rear wheel it's suppose to hit where the front wheel hit. Now the question is: I saw some video and see two distinct technique in order to have the same final result: the rear wheel Jump from the ground. The difference it's not in the mocement but clutch and trhottle. The First it's like a double blip, and the steps seem to be 1) put the Wheele relasing the clutch and off gas 2) hit the nbstacle …

Hello again and thank you all for your replies Okay firstly it's takes a bit getting used to riding with one finger always on the clutch lever which means I tend to crush the remaining Fingers around the grip when pulling in on the lever , and wondering how much slippage I should have when clutch lever is fully pulled in and touching fingers on the grip With most motorcycle you want no slippage with the clutch when fully released but with trials you are riding most times with slippage ,so should I be able to select neutral with fingers on grip or should it only be possible when I remove fingers and pull lever all the way until it hits the grip, and shoul…

I would love to join a trials class, but cant due to time, so im stuck learning on my own. as of now, im just somewhat trail riding and learning to get over somewhat technical ledges about 1ft high, slow riding, and just trying to static balance. I am hoping someone can somewhat guide me on what order I should do things. I met someone and they told me, just find a playground for now with small ledges, climbs, etc and ride over them slowly, get over them slowly. Try Static balance at the start, just a little before the obstacle and try getting over it, then slowly pick more technical lines. So i combined this list to see if anyone can offer some advice and this is t…

I have arthritis in both thumbs. The trapezium bone has been removed in one hand and pending in the other. Some knuckles are not in great shape either. Both hands and wrists are getting quite sore from riding and stay that way afterward. I would think modern suspension would be better but my Beta 4t is harder on my hands than my TY175. On the beta I'm constantly on the clutch and front brake plus ride bigger obstacles. (I did put thinner oil in the forks.) On the TY I'm mostly on throttle only and suspect the skinny forks flex around to help cushion things. I do try to minimize hand pressure when riding. I have thought of an electric bike because you don't need …

Hey all, so I come from a background of enduro riding and rmec racing, so nothing super tough. Im not a skilled rider, just your basic trail, single track and "rougher" enduro rider. Many times, I still sit on rocky terrain and obstacles (to give you an idea of my riding level). As some of you know I am starting off with a trials 300 txt gasgas, and I have no idea where to begin or do ha ha. so here are some questions. Yes I know youtube has a lot of videos, but I still feel like I need to build up to get there. Im hoping one day I can meet a trials rider in Colorado so they can show me how to start. As of now, I dont think many events are taking place since its winter. H…

So I picked up trials, I have no idea what these machines are capable of or if I should bother trying. So this is the terrain I ride in. My short term goal is to ride a small section of rock (some areas get very technical with drops) roll over them, static balance on the rocks, then look for a line and continue to roll on, static balance again, maybe a few front hops and rear hops to realign. Is this do-able on this terrain over time? I can static balance on flat dirt pavement, but when it comes to trail riding over rough terrain its impossible for me to do so. Granted its my 2nd day of riding trials, and not knowing if its achievable or not, this is why I am asking. …

Hi, How to decide, if junior-frame or fullsize frame 80cc. Both kids are riding, one with Beta Jr 80cc and other decided to ride petrol, so we'll ditch the Oset. Both are same size 12yo 155-160cm height. Should we take Beta/GasGas 80cc full size frame or Jr/cadet frame as a second bike. So one of them would advance from Jr to fullsize frame. For me it seems quite natural to keep them both on smaller frame for a year or so. But there are some riders advocating for bigger frame without any proper reasoning. It seems that bigger frame (and tires!) are easier to balance and better climbing on natural obstacles. But on the other hand I'd like them to practi…

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to ride rock sections, similar to sections in the Scottish 6 day trial. or can anyone recommend any good training videos or books on techniques for riding rocks. I just can’t seem to find the rhythm and momentum, I end up clattering through them. Others seem to float over them.

I had a weird experience today. I had to go down a very steep grade about 4/5m tall with a short run out and got a severe calf cramp trying to stay on the rear brake. I wonder how far above the peg is considered ideal? I may need to lower my pegs as my brake pedal can't go up any more. Thank you.

Hi All, I have been riding for many (40+) years, but I am totally new to the sport. Bought recently a Cota 315R and I am having a hard time finding a comfortable position for the levers, the clutch in particular. Holding the clutch with my index finger ends up pinching my fingers or hitting my knuckles. From various pictures and videos, I see setups that are dramatically different, WRT inclination and horizontal position on the handlebars. I know the answer is "whatever works best for me", but when learning I find easier to start from a neutral setup and progressively adjust from there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Jacked the topic from another forum. Do u believe in riding with bend knees or not ? This person says bend them : And here someone who only does it with direct function : In my opinion the basics should be with "straight" legs (mostly a little bend)If u start with to much bend there is little room for action and the weight is easily going more to the back, making things more difficult. (That is a problem I have)
