Hi I've been it to bike trials (push bike) for quite a while but am only just starting to move on to motorbike trials (hope thats the right terminology). Im having great fun so far but would like to be able to track stand... on a push bike it is a simple case of turning the bars almost 90 degrees and just moving body weight but this does not seam to work on the trial bike... help please also are there any events or clubs in the hampshire area (UK) that i would be able to spectate at..... Thanks all Matt

  3. Hello Guys, I've just started trialling after spending a few years racing cars and I've got a big hang up telling me that I'll never be able to trial. I haven't ridden a trial bike before and it seems totally different to a road bike or Motorcross bike. I feel like I need to control the power with my clutch for one. Can anyone tell me where you went wrong and how did you get it right? Cheers Dean

Started Trials in the last week - done some green laning and a bit of enduro some time back. But my wrists really ache when I am stood and especially doing stand up wheelies- feels really alien- will this get better?- I find all my precision goes out the window as my body weight is held up by my wrists- should I be gripping with my legs -should I still be covering clutch and front brake with my index fingers? Really enjoying it though. Help much appreciated. cheers Bob

Take a look at my video of me getting up a rock with my front wheel against it, Ive slowed it down so Its easier to analyze what im doing wrong! Ive been trying to do these for about 3 weeks now and im struggling to get rear wheel height. is this because my front wheel isnt low enough? If I lower it down I struggle to get any forward momentum and I end up just landing on the sump. I Noticed on the video that Im not getting that "spring" that Id get If I hit the rock rolling, Is this because the front wheel is rolling forward when I jump? Please take a look at the video and tell me where Im going wrong! Any advice would be much appreciated =] All the best Tom

I am currently riding a 125 beta 08 and I am not sure if I am using the appropriate gear to do certain moves. To be more specific, I am learning how to double-blip. I am doing it in 2nd gear right now, but I need to rev the engine quite a bit to get the rear tire to make it on to the object (basically for the rear to take off and land where the front was). 3rd gear seems a little tall, especially when you get onto the obstacle. I am using a lot of body movement but I don't get the kick for the bike to come after me. The 125 is geared lower than the bigger displacement bikes... any suggestions? I just wanna make sure I've picked the right gear to practice with so I don'…

I am looking for advice on suspension setup. I ride an 2005 Beta Rev 3, I was riding a few sections today through some streambeds with a friend. He owns a Gas Gas 280, we swopped bikes and I noticed that his front end is super planted and doesn't deflect like mine. I am not sure whether it is the bike difference or suspension, any advice would be appreciated. This isn't a bike bashing question just looking to make my bike less nervous through the stream beds???

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knows any good FREE video clips or downloads of people teaching you stuff on trials? Many Thanks Danny.

  14. Hi there, I was wondering if any of you know how to spin your bike around. Like when you swing the back around and then the front. I have difficulty lifting my bike around is there an easy method of doing this or is there a video clip that you know of that will show me how to do this? Many Thanks Danny.

Im having some trouble moving the rear of the bike using the front brake, not nessisarily from a stand still but also from moving. I dont have a problem getting the rear wheel off the ground or getting the height right, I just cant seem to get moving it where I want to and If I do I sometimes find it hard to balance afterwards. Does anyone have any tips or is it just something you have to practice and feel until you get it right? Its not like most techniques where I can look and see how its done (ie: rock steps etc) because it always looks so easy and natural when other people do it. Cheers =] All the best Tom

I'm curious about what the top riders do as far as diet is concerned when training for competition. Do they follow a very regimented program all week long, 365 days a year, do they only eat certain foods a couple of days before a meet, and then eat whatever they want in the days that follow? Personally I find that my stamina is one of the biggest factors that cost me points as I go through a competition, because I loose form and can't execute techniques all through the day that I could do the first two laps, etc.. So I'm interested in learning some things I can try to maybe improve from a diet perspective of training. Please be as specific as you can if you don't mind…

Hearty Absquatulations Fellow Triallers Just wondering if anyone out there in trials land has suffered (and more importantly) recovered from a broken scaphoid (thats the wrist bone to us laypersons). I have just broken mine in a freak mountainbiking accident, and will have to get it pinned back together. The doc says at least 12 weeks before any form of riding, about two weeks after the big competition I have been training for. (At least I'll save on fuel) Does anyone have any experience with this operation, will I be able to ride properly again, have full use of my wrist etc. Also are there any exercises that can help my recovery (keep it clean!). Regaining confidence …
