Hi, I am looking for someone who can give me some one to one trials training. I did my first trial at the weekend and am in need of some help, I have the brusies to confirm this fact! I know there are some schools out there but does anyone do it for the individual? I am over 40 (and overweight) and have a 2007 Scorpa. Thanks for help. Dave PS I am Midlands based but can travel.

All the pro riders before attempting a big jump, or something hard, they "clean out the bike" by staying still, clutch pulled, and big throttle, high rpm, wait a few seconds, then shut the throttle. And only after that they attempt to make the jump. Why is this needed? It's only needed if the bike is a 2 stroke? Or the 4 stroke is the same? It's because of the 2 stroke oil in the petrol? The oil is staying in the carb, or in the crank case or in the exhaust or what?

It may seem daft but can anyone tell me when i should get a new rear tyre? My current one is still full depth on the tread but is rounded on the leading edge, not all the way though. Should i buy a new one or turn it around? Will it make a difference,i know on an old motocross i had, i did this and it improved but does it matter for trials? Hope to hear from someone[ ive never used a forum before] cheers phill....

Hi All, I'm building a training section in the backyard, to get my skills up for the first comp's. Without being to an event yet, I'm building blind, and have a few silly questions. How wide are the boundaries, on an average novice section? What sort of obstacles am I likely to encounter? What techniques should I be working on? Does ayone have any pics of a novice section? Thanks for the help. Cheers Kem

Do you ride with a finger covering each lever all the time? Or only when you actually need to? I reckon that ideally you'd have them covered all the time so your not changing grip. What's best?

Hi all, This will probably sound like a silly question , but im fairly new to moto trials , so here goes........................ I live in a fairly congested (neighbors) residential area and to start the bike up after work to practice is proving not a real good idea ( probably fairly so) so my question is is it a good idea to practice balancing the bike without it going as ive heard balance is better achieved with the use of clutch /throttle coordination ?? or should i wait until i can get the bike out and actually start it to practice , and by the way its great to find a forum where i can ask silly questions re trials riding , Thanks

Hi, I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea of the correct posture on a trials bike. Obviously, your going to be more bent over and cramped on the bike if your 6 feet tall than if your 5 feet 6. But yet I never see any raised bars on trials bike. I have a Cota and am 6 feet tall. I recently finished a long trial with an rally between zones which was about 36 kms between the sections. I was dead from being bent over so long. Any Hints, tips on the desired posture?

over the last few weeks i have developed a sore left hand, more the pinky and the adjasent finger. the pain often runs down the wrist I personaly think it could be a tendon problem but i am not sure, it seems to occur when doing a big step... i think it is to do with gripping the bars and pulling back hard tried many things to stop this;diffrent gloves, no gloves, new grips, extending legs more, the worst was stopping riding for two weeks(that was a grim last resort) went back on bike then after an hour or two it was back. does anyone else get this problem?, if so how did you sort it?

Not really a motorcycle trials question, but.. I have an 11 yo who's sports mad (I also have a 13 yo whose idea of sport involves playstations). The 11 yo has a nice'ish BMX bike. So where can I look on the web for some sites that will describe tricks and techniques that he can practice on that bike to get him into trials. Sadly there's no cyclo trials scene in Auckland so that won't work nor am I going to spend NZD2,500 on a specialist trials bicycle until there's some indication of committment on his part. Billy, you'd probably have a good idea where to start.

Just got back on my bike yesterday after a long lay off (which did help my knees)and sure enough my knees are stiffening up 24 hours later. It feels like my knee-caps are too tight( no float ),pushing into my knee joints. I think this means I have an imbalance in my leg muscles (front-back-inside -outside?). I'm quite active for 40 and nothing else I do gives me 'jip' like riding a trials bike??? Anyhow..does anyone know of a few exercises or any training I could add to my current work out? Cheers, Wayne

  20. Oooo it even smells like a new forum.... (I feel like sam should break this in but i am also feeling greedy) Well let me ask the first question. I have a bad habit. I hold my breath! Half way through the section i am blue and out of breath. I have never heard of lamaz <sp? for trials but i think i could really benifit from a prebirthing class on breathing. Some of my felow riders use beer as an anesethic but i only end up drunk and out of breath.... not good.... Anybody know how to combat this? --Biff
