Gas Gas

  1. Started by ba baraccus,

Thinking of upgrading to a newer machine and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the 200Pro? I had the 99 TXT 200 a while ago and that was pretty good but I just wondered how the Pro's compare? I am also considering the 250 but is the price difference worth it? Cheers for any advice!

Dear Gasers, Maybe I´m not riding the bike the right way but I am finding the gear shift too far from my foot rests. I don´t find it natural to change gears this way and was thinking about getting a shorter pedal. Having bought the bike second hand the pedal has already seen better days, with the sprung segment bent down slightly (probably as a direct result of using the ball of the foot on the pedal). The stock one installed is around 16cm in length, and I have to take my foot entirely from the rest to shift up or down. ¿Has anyone else found an alternative that reduces this distance & suits the older non-pro models? ¿Is there a reason why its so far from the fo…

So according to TUK these will come with Ohlins rear shock and some other "racing" bits and will be delivered next month. Then in May comes the Raga bikes. Can the market stand all these special editions??

Does anyone know where i can get a WORKSHOP manual for a 1999 txt270. the front forks on my bike seem a little soft and could do with a bit more rebound, but i wanted to change the fork oil before playing with the adjusters to get it set up for my weight and style. or could someone who has done this write me a small procedure including the amount of oil to put back in, and where you fill them too. any help would be great.

  5. Bike startas first time assuming I can actually get the engine to turn over, everytime I kick it the lever goes down but I don't think the engine is turning over. Just bought the bike and the guy who sold it to me said that to start it I have to not rest my foot on the lever first and not to take up the slack in the lever before kicking it, he said just to kick it straight off. This does seem to be working as everytime I've started it its been using that technique. I just find it odd because when starting my 4T Supermoto and my '07 rev 3 I rest my foot on the lever, find tdc then kick it, which works every time for those two bikes. Seems either the starter mechanism is …

Hello everyone, I'm confused to what bike I own. I was told by the person who I bought the bike from that it was a 300cc 2005 txt pro. Quickly after I bought it I found out that was not the case, I decided to check the chassis number to check for the year and model. The number I got is VTRGG300203030072, this seems to indicate that it's a 2003 300. After looking online I can't seem to find any handbooks or information on this bike. Any idea guys? Thanks

Hi all, After a couple of hours riding today, as I was about to put the bike in the van I noticed a small amount of gearbox oil on the bash plate and the gbox overflow had done exactly that - but it looks kinda white where it leaves the box. I then noticed that the sight glass was showing as though the gearbox was full with frothy oil....bugger! On returning home and unloading the bike I noticed the oil level was back to normal in the sight glass - about 4mm above the bottom and didn't look frothy at all. I then checked the water level and that's ok. I started the bike and left it running for about a minute and nothing happened - no overflow. ( I know I should have l…

On My Gas Gas Raga 300 2007, I have the standard Keihin PWK carb. Since a year or more now I'm always having a blocked pilot jet after about a 2h ride. The throttle then starts to return slowly, well not the throttle actually but the revvings itself. When the engine start doing like that I know it's time to clean the carb again. I clean the air filter about each ride in filtercleaner, and oilspray it again. I have new one now installed. I checked the fuel and installed a fuel filter. But still the jet keeps blocking, if I hold again the light, nothing. After a pressure blow and even a poke with a copper wire it's clear again and I can look trough it. I think I see th…

  13. Hi, just been saying how reliable my 04 txt pro has been since I got it earlier in the year then the dreaded kiss of death strikes, came off my bike today and bike landed on left side, after crash lever seemed to stay down after selecting down a gear ant up after selecting up a gear not returning to original position, as I am new to trials I have not experienced this before, and my mechanical skills are minimal, is this a big job to rectify and is it possible to try my self, many thanks ?

Hi all, After twiddling my thumbs for an hour or so this evening, I thought I'd be a model citizen and change the gear oil in my bike. I've not had it that long, so this is the first time. I went and bought some Castrol ATF Dex III "transmax" advanced performance series oil (?). Assuming this is the same Dextron III everybody on here talks about? I drained the fluid and what came out kind of looked like baileys / chocolate milk. I'm not sure this is a great sign . As i had no idea whther ATF is a delightful milky brown by design, I poured a little drop into my drain tray so i could see the colour... its red... more worrying is the fact that when it mixed with what …

  17. Hi All, the fan on my daughters 125 isnt coming on. We have only ridden the bike on about 4 occassions, and it has been v cold here in North Wales, but im sure there is something wrong. The fan can be spun readily by hand, so isnt seized. It doesnt feel tight or obstructed. There is coolant in the radiator, so the temp sensor must be seeing 'hot' coolant. Im looking for advice as to what order to check things. Is there a known problem with the fan? I was thinking of applying 12v dc to the fan to see if it spins. I guess the next step will be to find the temp sensor and check it hasnt failed 'open'. Im guessing a little bit of riding to get it hot will suffice…

Good evening all. New rider on the block so please be gentle lol I bought a 97 gas gas JTX 270 about 2 months ago and have done roughly 2 tank full before the bike struggled to idle without a little reving. I took the bike to my local specialist and he stripped most of it down and cleaned it and that still didn't solve the problem. I changed the carb today for a good second hand carb with throttle etc full cleaned and stripped and fresh tank of 70:1 mix. The bike started first kick but the idle was all over so I have adjusted the fuel screw to 3-3.5 tuns out from fully in and tried to adjust the idle screw to suit. The bike idled well for short while and then the fan …

Hi all, 2000 txt boy will not start, I have clean fuel, spark and compression but it still won't go. I have looked through previous posts about stators failing but if I'm still getting a spark could it be that it's not strong enough? People also mention testing the resistance could someone give me any figures and procedures please? Thanks in advance J
