Hi, newbie here ........ I've been building and evolving a Honda 125 for a year now, not for competition but for getting quietly and carefully around various farms and landscapes. Hi Guys. Ive watched a few videos of Sidecar Trials on YouTube and it looks like great fun, But there is little info available regarding the cost of building a sidecar ? Who builds them and for what kind of price ? Is it possible for a father /son team to enter ? what is the minimum age ? Recommended bike ? (generally)

I have always had a desire to ride a trails outfit and, after many years of prevarication, I have finally taken the plunge and bought a chair. I am planing to attach it to my 1986 JCM 320cc. The bike has an air shock and I am hoping pumping it up to the max will make the rear stiff enough for the extra weight. There is plenty of information here about fitting but would welcome guidance on some specific points. I was going for a vertical bike/sidecar wheel. Should I be looking load the bike to allow for any sag in the suspension when in use? It is suggested that some tinkering to the mountings may me necessary to get the best ride. Do adjustable mount…

Greetings from sunny Brisbane! My son in law and I have a number of TY175's in various stages of build and a single TY250 that we are planning to put a chair on. He is a competitive solo rider (B grade from memory) whilst I'm a complete trials novice but been riding solo and outfits all my life. We have been searching for ages around the net for info on building your own chair from scratch and have come up mostly blank. Apart from telling us we're crazy, can anyone point us at some decent information - either online or printed. There's very few chairs active here in Aus and not a lot of info. Cheers Nigel.

Hi guys Got rl250 with a bolt on chair, just wondering what people use for a passenger foot peg on the swing arm and where I can get the grab handles from. Rope type or whatever is used. It's not going to be competitive, just for a bit of fun. Cheers

Hi guys, My friend and I are both proficient solo riders but have always fancied a go on a sidecar. We recently purchased a 280 climber with Rushton chair to have a go. We both loved it and have begun to attempt some harder sections however, we are having problems going up small steps/logs. When we 'launch' the third wheel hits the step and throws the rig to the left. What should the passenger/rider be doing as we hit the step? I assume the passenger throws there wait behind the rider? The chair has a falcon 10" shock that is virtually rigid. I plan to send this off the falcon shortly to be serviced and maybe have a softer spring, but have been told the spring should…

Sidecar trials are hard to find we have discovered. Sidecar trials for beginner are even harder! Normandy Club (part of the Thames Valley Trials Combine - TVTC) have said they will lay out a few trials catering for sidecars if they can get at least 3 outfits interested. Does anybody have any experiance of what modern kids bikes are capable of pulling a chair, i've seen a couple of TY80 outfits in the dim and distant past but i've no idea of what a modern bike would be like with a chair attached. Thanks Giles

Having had a try in the chair last year I am putting an outfit together to move from solo into sidecar next year. I have managed to get a very nice rushton clair off of a club member and am planning to pair it to TYMono I have in the garage. The rear shock is shot to pieces and once the outfit was paired with two riders the bike pitched right over to the right with the inside of the mudguard on the tyre! As the replacement mono shocks for this are getting scarce I have planned to do a twinshock conversion on the TY and would appreciate advice on shocks? The main thing I assume is spring weight? silly question but a a complete novice to metal work so here goes............I am making some brackets up to fit my trials chair to a bike. what thickness of steel should I use to make the brackets? I am learning to mig weld and can just about do steel so stainless and ali are out of the question for now.

For some reason the Mel Harrison sidecar national trial this weekend seems to lack interest in the sidecar fraternity despite the fact that a month ago the decision was taken NOT to run the event at Cockhill Mines, Greehow in the interests of safety. Cockhill is not exactly user friendly towards three wheelers. An approach was made to Norman Shepherd at Fellbeck to stage the trial on his acres, to which Norman promptly gave the nod. With a fine mixture of streams, woodland, rocks, and grassy climbs and gullies, wet and dry over a lap distance of almost two miles all off road the venue is ideal being three miles from Pateley Bridge town centre. Hi to all of you chair enthusiasts, I'm after some advice to get us going. I've ridden solo's to a reasonable level in the past but have been road racing for the last 20 years. For some reason my wife has desiceded that having a go a trials both solo and sidecar would be fun, (probably got something to do with me having two big crashes at the Manx Grand Prix in the last four years) we get a chair next week. I still have my old Fantic 309, my original plan was to bolt the chair onto this just to start with. However having looked round this site for a bit I am starting to realise how old it is!
