Hi I've recently fitted a Mikuni VM26 to my 1979 Sherpa 250 , unfortunately it appears to be run a tad rich. Its running a 35 pilot jet and a 130 main, I've worked the circlip on the needle all the way to the top notch and althought its now running a lot better its still rich and requires very little choke. What jet sizes are being used by anyone else with a Vm26 on a 250?

I have owned this 1967 Bultaco Sherpa T for ages, it was the first bike I bought and rode.Originally bought in 1982 for £400, I did some competitions on it then sold it when I was skint.Years later bought it back off the chap I sold it to, he needed the money, but it was in bits in a box then. He had road registered it and had it taxed and running on the road at one point. So it does have a number registration YMO 215F.I did a few more competitions on it, but it needed a restoration even back then. There was no working front brake when I last rode it back in the early 90's.Its sat in the corner of my garage getting dusty since then. So I've now decided to fully restore it…

Evening all. I'm just trying to sort out my aluminium sherpa fuel tank and wonder where I can get some decals for it. I see inmotion do sticker but they won't be any good because after its painted I'd like to lacquer over the decal. so can anyone help? Many thanks

A few weeks ago I made a mistake - I left the fuel tap on, which coincided with a stuck float in the carb, went into the garage after being away for a week to a strong smell of petrol. Stripped and cleaned the carb and all sorted. But, today decided to repaint the exhaust, so started to remove it when petrol started pouring out of the exhaust port! I put a tray underneath, removed the plug and gently turned over the engine - got about half a litre out so far… I’ve squirted a bit of oil down the plug hole and turned the engine over a few times, but the question is will I have done any damage? 1976 Bultaco Sherpa T 350 basket case roller for parts. Missing head, cylinder, triple tree and handlebars. Bottom end turns over, good wheels, tank, seat pan, pipe, etc. The real deal here is the new never installed VAPE electronic ignition #7269799AC with instructions. New to me Bultaco. I just registered it with a Bill of Sale (title was lost) and now I’m ready to buy some parts for it. I was under the impression it was a ‘73 Pursang 250 so I was looking up the model number and found that my frame I believe coincides with a 125cc model. The PO did the restore on it (replaced seals and gaskets and the ring, didn’t replace piston) and clearly knew what he was doing so I’m assuming the engine had been swapped for a 250 at some point, but how can I tell? Hi. Brand new member (and brand new to dirt). Just acquired a '73 Pursang with newly painted tank/side panels. I have another set of panels but I'd really like another tank, any tank, to swap on the bike before I destroy the one on there now. Any suggestions (other than finding another, old beaten up Pursang tank - I'm looking now) for a tank that I can adapt to this frame with little modifications? Many thanks. bultaco.pdf

Looking for help on a replacement flywheel for a 1966 MK2 Matador 250, the bike came to me in parts... crates of them, picked from the original 'restorer'. The flywheel in the pile is a FEMSA VAR 41-9 that is cracked at the rivets & has at least 3/16" rotational play. Anyone know what FEMSA part number flywheel should be on this bike? Suspect the VAR 41-9 may be another model, as I have a mod 26 in the pile of parts!

So finally got the Sherpa T 175 all back together and it struck up after a few kicks. The issue I have is when I acquired the bike it wasn't actually running and as such I have no idea whether the carb or the jets where making for optimum performance. I can obtain new jets of course but I don't have a bench mark to work from. The bike has good compression and has just been re-ringed and has new gaskets. It has an Amal Mk2 concentric 2625 carb on it at present and the symptoms are as follows. Lumpy running and not able to obtain full revs. Its very smoky and currently running using 95 ron and and Castrol semi syn oil at a ratio of 50:1. Its difficult to start especi…

Hi All, Looking to finish the rebuild on my 175cc Bultaco Sherpa T and need some new piston rings. The piston is a MAHLE and is 60.8 in diameter. Measuring the bore a 61mm ring should work but I am struggling to find a UK outlet for such a thing. I have tried the usual In Motion and other specialists but they have nothing listed. Also as it has been a while since the strip down could anyone please remind me the correct orientation of the piston. From memory the longer skirt on the piston goes to the inlet side but any confirmation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey everyone. Brand new here and picked up my first Bultaco. It runs and is about 75% original, however knowing this is a trial forum, I am looking to go the other way. I would like to change the gearing some to make it more of a "desert sled", less low-geared trials. I know the 71 Alpina is basically the same bike with higher gearing. Can anyone tell me how interchangeable the gearbox is? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! Fenix

Hi all, in the process of rebuilding the 191 engine.I've just gone through all the packs of seals and "O" rings to identify them all and have a couple of queries. The "O" ring set ( or the O rings with full gasket set ) comprises of 5 rings. The two large ones are No.54 on the engine illustration in the parts book (260-011) ,the smallest is No.20 on the gearbox illustration (111-028-1) which leaves two 25mm ones. One of these is No.17 on the gearbox illustration (111-025-1) but i can't see what the other one is for.......probably missing something obvious! The other problem is with an oil seal ( part No. 160-031, 14x20x3 ). This is No.45 on the gearbox illustra…

Hi all! I've searched for hours and didn´t get to a point, that's why I'm bothering you asking for help. I have s Sherpa T 250 model 190 (1977 I supose). It is matching numbers but my "problem" is that these numbers are 8 digits instead of 9 digits (RM-190***90 / RB-190***90). I've checked a serial at the left crankcase that is 112-10Y019, what I think confirms that is a 250cc Sherpa/Alpina engine. Does anyone know why it has these 8 digits if it is supposed to have 9???
