I am the original owner and plan on getting it running again. Stock Gearing is 11T/39T. Does anybody know how many chain links were standard? I have 97 links using an offset link with two masterlinks. I don't know what was OEM. Can anybody help? Thanks.

Hi, I have just bought a sherpa to re-live my youth after last owning one as a schoolboy in 1976. (funny thing age and nostalgia) Anyway it occured to me that we now only buy unleaded fuel and wondered if the different octane rating affects the engine or is an additive needed? I have read with interest the items related to fuel/oil ratio but would appreciate any advice on this subject. Cheers

Hello again, The only crankshaft I can find so far is out of a mark 9 250 pursang. It is the same. I say that with tongue in cheek. The balancing will not be correct for sure. I have been reading some articles on balancing the crank. But has anyone actually done this sucessfully? If so would you care to let me in on any secrets that might make this task easier. I'll keep reading my articles untill I'm confident to start drilling. Thanks Again

I'm in the process of removing forks from an M85. I need to pull the tubes down out of the clamps but am not sure how to proceed. Is the top of the tube tapered and fit into a taper in the top clamp? Where can you provide some force to get them moving down? (There is some corrosion.) Trying to twist the tube by hand does not work. The right fork seems to function as normal. However, the left tube is stuck at a length maybe 2 " less than full extension. The lower fork tube will rotate on the upper but that side does not want to compress or extend. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I have just bought here in Mexico a Bultaco Sherpa, which the vendor was advertising as a 1971 Sherpa 250, but on inspection appears to be a 1974 Sherpa 350 (model 125). It was bought unseen (comparatively cheap, that is my excuse) and when it was delivered to me I discovered that the frame appears to have been repaired / strenthened on the downtube near the headstock. I have had a good look and cannot establish whether the frame fractured and was welded and braced, or whether it has been strengthened - I am inclined to believe the former, given that the forks are slightly bent, suggesting that it may have sustained a heavy frontal impact - the front rim still …

Hi the baffles in the mid box have came loose inside the mid box, any ideas for an easy fix. It also has a strange after market tail pipe do you think this will effect performance. Once I have cleaned and repaired the exhaust does it require any packing? PHOTOS http://s810.photobucket.com/albums/zz27/my...before%20start/ Cheers

Hi, I have been told that you can run an M-80 250 with a 626, could it run ok on a 625 as I have a good on in my garage. What are the main differences between them ,625 has a cold start lever not a tickler so it may be a model 1.5, Cheers

I entered my 1975 Butlaco Sherpa T Model 151 in a classic Motorcycle Show. To my surprise my bike won overall. There were about 30 to 40 bikes there. I was setting up and working all day on a AHRMA Trials event at Hollister. I wish I would have taken pictures of the show but was too busy all day. The trophy is Best in Show in memory of Jim Pomeroy. An awesome trophy. Good thing my idol Big John was not there he would have kicked my a$$

Hi, I have scraped all paint off headstock and cannot find a frame number. The heabstck looks like a different material from rest of frame and it didnt have original silver paint(frame has been painted a horrible colour over original) Could frame be more recent than engine, it looks like M-80 and has slimline tank seat unit. Could it have been altered? See link for photos Cheers http://s810.photobucket.com/albums/zz27/myson/

I have gotten the M159 mostly back together and tried to get it start up (borrowed petcock off of M80 and fixed the throttle with epoxy and and a sqaure nut to act as a throttle stop). I did start after many kicks!!! But there was fuel everywhere dripping quickly out of the bottom of the carb. I did disassemble and "clean the carb" when I was going through the bike a few months ago but it was pretty clean to start with the photos are from the intial cleaning. What would cause the fuel to drip out?

Last Bulto I rode was about 30 years ago and it belonged to Steve "Butch" Robson if any one remembers him.
