I've got an Ossa MAR with a lovely alloy tank which has been little used. I bought it about 10 years ago completely disassembled (everything including the engine, gearbox, rims and spokes - everything to it's last component). I put it together very carefully and had everything either polished, powdercoated and replaced with stainless. I don't remember much of the detail, but am now trying to get it finished. The engine is installed in the frame but moving the gear lever up or down does not select a gear and does not seem to engage with anything. Two questions: Am I going to have to take it all to pieces to get at the gear selectors and Contrary to my exp…

Hi there. The rear tyre on my OSSA MAR is a 4" Michelin and it fouls the exhaust can. Can anyone advise whether the WES silencers are 'stepped out' and would provide some more clearance or whether I'll need to make something. Ideas please folks. Thanks

I have a 73 MAR, but it appears many OSSA models are similar regarding the shifter shaft and the O rings that seal the shaft. My MAR has a splined stub on both sides of the engine, and could be run as left or right side shift. The O ring in the clutch cover is easily replaced by removing the clutch cover. With the clutch cover removed, can the shifter shaft be removed to replace the right side O ring or must the cases be split to replace the O ring. When I had the clutch cover removed previously, I noticed there was quite a bit of movement where possibly the shaft could be removed, but I did not attempt it.

  7. Hi all I've been restoring my TR77 for 18 months after it sat in bits for 16 years. On completion it had a huge fat blue spark and started brilliantly many many times whilst I was finishing it off. Got it road registered and went for a test ride. After 12 miles of the engine running smooth as... it suddenly stopped. Problem, no spark at all. So, is there a guide anywhere of what to check, what values to expect etc? I My Clymer manual tells me that it is an electronic ignition model, but the new points and condensor I fitted suggests otherwise! I have a good meter, and understand the ignition system, but have no data or values to check against. Yes I have checked t…

I've noticed over the last few weeks my bike seems to have a strange whine when ridden, but only in second gear in all the other gears its fine. Its now got to the point where other people can hear it as I'm riding, the bike its self is riding ok. I'm going to try get a video of it as well I've just been and started the bike to try and get a video of it running in second gear on the workshop stand in the garage and it isnt making the whine so it must be doing it under load

  11. I recently picked up a bike from a friend that he had sitting around for years. I bought it because it has a very unique rear suspension and I like how it looks. I was searching for some parts and was having a hard time finding info on the bike, any help is appreciated! Here is the info I have: build date- July 75 serial #- 242194 350-tr on the tag It also has BLT plonker on the side panels. Thanks!

From the backgound of enduro and loads of oilchanges I thougt that a simple fork oilservice would be a pice of cake, but no! Read some helpful information but not realy a complete explination. So, went for the classic counted the clicks to max, back to fully release pressure at minus and then loosen the cap. (Drained the oil from the lowest bolt first). Did all the refilling and air bleeding but when mounting the cap, with the unusal rod stuck to the cap this drives the rod to bottom?!! Leaving no chance of changing the clicks? Do I have to mount cap/rod at max + so that I later can loosen the compression nut to right set of clicks? And what is the standard set of c…

Hi, hope someone can help me out!! I have a mk2 mar (75) and when I open the fuel tap the carb floods, i.e, fuel runs out of the float bowl. I take it that the gasket has perished but I can't find a supplier for a rebuild kit. Does anyone know of anywhere? Cheers in advance, Nigel.

  14. Started by chaser,

Did a trial last week and while I was checking a section I left the bike ticking over. As I set off into the section the bike just bogged and cut out. I couldn`t restart the bike so I took the plug out to find it was very sooted up. This has happened before when bike was left ticking over to warm up. Even after cleaning the plug the bike is reluctant to start and needs a new plug. Is there anything I can do to reset mixture ? as it seems to run too rich.

I have run 90/1 in my 2011 tr280i and switched to 130/1 with this season being my second. No problems whatsoever.Loaded my gear up this past sunday and didn't take my daughters TY175 because she was away. After a good warmup and a couple of loops i stopped to top up.Ooops....i topped up with the TY's 32/1 premix But ya know what? It ran perfect. Not really any smoking that i could notice.Starting was the usual 1st kick. But it did smell funny because of the Ipone strawberry scent.

Here in the US, 7mm fasteners are not common. Not that I need many, but is there a reasonably priced source for this size fastener. The real oddballs I need, since I had to drill them to remove the skidplate, are the 7mm flush head slotted screws.

Hi, My 300 has the factory clutch, been well used and no probs with slipping etc, but i seem to be having to adjust it a lot and cannot get the right release position on lever. Its very slightly draggy, or to close to handlebar to feel correct. I know stack height on friction plates are 9.75 total, but anyone know the finger end height from centre of clutch basket? Regards, Ian

My 73 MAR 250 has an IZD carb installed on it. This was what came stock on these machines. I am compiling a list of items needed, all cables are needed. Problem is, no where do I see the cable to go from the Amal throttle to an IZD carb. Would it be the same cable ad for an Amal carb or Bing?

  20. I first will say I appreciate the experience and knowledge here. I grew up riding when these machines were being made, but never considered them as I was a kid growing up racing MX when the Japanese bikes arrived and became dominant. Fast forward to 2016, I wanted a trials bike. Many reasons why. My good friend and riding buddy purchased a 72 MAR about a year ago that was supposedly very nice. He learned it was good but lacking in the fine details and he does not have or own junk. A few weeks ago, knowing he needed some original parts, I noticed another MAR on a Facebook group that was for sale reasonably inexpensive. He acquired it. So he had plans to build a …
