Trials Gear

Hi guys and gals, Ive decided to get back into trials after a 5 year hiatus. I have since realised the old lid is a bit out of date and doesnt comply with some of the ruleing here in South Aus. Ive done a bit of research and I think I will swing with the airoh, unfortunalty there are no local trials shops in my area that stock airoh trials helmets and id much prefer not to be left buying blind.. However I use an airoh fullface helmet for motocross and I highly recommend it. I was wondering if anyone knows how close the sizing is between the airoh models?

Dougies foot injury in the Scott and a similar injury to another rider I know got me thinking. More years ago than I care to admit I hit a boulder hidden in bracken on the Scott. Really hurt my foot, bent the gearlever and footrest. Although my foot went numb I was able to finish, no bones broken and no nails ripped off. I was wearing two pairs of thick socks and old fashioned boots which were much thicker (black) leather than the modern ones. Had I been wearing modern boots which have very thin leather i am sure my foot would have been much worse. Hello all, I am looking for my first trials helmet, I ride a KTM Freeride E and don't want to use a full face helmet as I get way too hot riding the more technical stuff. My background is MX and Enduro so I find the Airoh Stelt/Aviator and Fox V3 fit me really well. Based on this, I ordered the Airoh Evergreen which feels awful compared to my Stelt and have sent it back. I have a narrow head but fit a size large 59-60cm so looking for suggestions for a trials lid that is well vented, light and suits my weird (narrow) head shape. Was thinking the Airoh TRR as it is well vented and light but open to other suggestions, one more question are any Trails lids certified …

I've just bought some new Forma Boulder boots to replace my Alpinestars which have given up after five years. To be fair they have been soaked and dried very week with no further care. I am keen to get the boots to last and have gone black instead of white which look like crap after a few rides. The question is what product is best for the boot preparation, softening of leather and preserving etc. Ive heard that Neats foot oil is good but others ay its full of petroleum which is not good. Advice?

Like many others I'm looking for a trials pant that is not too tight and I've read here that these are somewhat roomy. I've also read the same about Jitsie, but also that they are a bit warm when the temps are up. There is not much info here on the Wulfsport line other than the helmets. Anyone own a pair of their pants that can offer any comments on the fit, quality, etc.? Thanks

Is there such a thing on the market as a intermediate throttle tube ? The new bike came with a fast action which I liked in most sections today but in a couple it was a bit quick and got away from me. I have tried my slow acton Xblox on it and did not like it as much as the fast.

My second pair of Gaernes have bit the dust and fancy trying a pair of Stylmartins. Just wondered if anyone could offer advice on how the Stylmartins size up? For what it's worth I wear a 45 in Gaernes. I would prefer to go and try some on but it's a fair old round trip to a dealer, so generally works out cheaper to take an educated punt and risk the postage costs of a return... Thanks in advance

Morning guys Im one of those riders that walks through all water sections looking/feeling for unseen obstacles, while the smarter guys watch and keep their boots dry. How do you guys dry your boots out? I hang my boots up outside but it takes close on a week to dry out completely. Any blower devices you guys have built that I could look at (pics) or other tips? Hi! I'm looking for trials gear, but I really don't know about the sizing. I'm a big guy, 190cm/108kg and I'm looking for gear that would fit a bit looser than your average trials gear. I have no problem finding gear from MX/enduro gear brands, as they make larger gear that fits good as well. It seems like trials gear is always in XS-XXL sizes, pants included. Any other bigger guys here, what brand do you use, and which size are you using? I guess I'm between the XL-XXL range. I think I will have more problems with the shirt sizing, not so much with the pants. I have rather wide back/shoulders, as well as some good old belly. I don't want to look like a sausage while…

looking for starter helmet for myself and found this , looks good with sun blend. Anybody used it? It's half the price of airoch or Jitsie.

There have been many reports of many different brands of boots wearing holes in the sides where the bike frame makes contact. Any ideas on things to Glue/sew or otherwise affix to the boot as a "wear patch" that can be periodically replaced. Instead of wearing a hole in the boot?

Hi, does anyone know if the Arai Penta fits the exact same as Arai Hyper T? I tried on a Large Hyper T and it was too small. Then I tried on a Large Penta at a later date, and it seemed to fit. This was on differnt days so I wasn't able to do a back to back comparison. I can't just go to shop and try on different ones, as these are not imported to the US anymore. I know the 2 helmets look to be the same. Anyway, as they have to be mail ordered I was trying to determine if they do in fact fit different. Thank you.

I am getting back into trials after 25 years. All of the trials specific pants that I have seen seem to be skin tight and not designed for wearing knee braces underneath (i.e. for young riders with good knees). Vented MX/Offroad pants are too heavy and bulky. Does anybody make well-ventilated trials pants with room for knee braces? Thanks.
