I have been building a pre 65 trials bike for some time with a replica frame and I have found for a sale an appropriate frame and V5c of the same brand and year. The seller states that the V5c is in his name and has a non-transferable registration number. How difficult would it be to use this V5c and frame number to register and tax the trials bike? When it means non-transferable does that mean at the end of the process my bike would get the registration number on the V5c or another age related number?

Hi, I know the topic has been covered many times but I have road registered a used Gasser before with no problems but this is different and the DVLA are gettings on my t*%s! The bike is less than three years old and has not been road registered before. The story so far!! Certificate of newness and proof of import tax (VAT 414) obtained from importer John Lampkin's V55/5 completed (stating bike is non homologation) and all necessary paperwork above along with insurance certificate, driving license, proof of address were submitted to the Chester DVLA office. DVLA Chester contact me by phone and advise me they require the bike to be inspected but I advise them that the…

I've lost my V5C and can't remember the registration number. I've downloaded a V62 form to get a replacement V5C, but can't answer what the registration number is... that's why I was looking for the V5C to make a new number plate. I've spoken to the DVLA and they said I can fill in a form to find out if the bike has previously registered, but that could take 8 to 12 weeks for them to do a search. Anyone know how I can find the registration number a bit quicker?

i went to register a bike today all the correct documentation etc to hand having done it loads of times.. however.. you cant read about it anywhere on any websites or even on a poster but the process for registering a vehicle has changed significantly.. virtually all local dvla offices are closing in december and all applications will ahve to be done by mail.. in the meantime significant changes have alrady come into effect on 15/04/13. you need to do this for all vehicles built in the uk or not. you must have a dating certificate from the original manufacturer.. if not you must have a letter from the manufacturer stating that they do not have records or did not build…

Hi, Does anybody have any experience of insuring a trials bike for a road trial for just one day? I have the chance to ride my fathers Enfield in a local road trial (in preparation for the Scottish Pre 65 - where there is the option to purchase road top up insurance with your entry fee). The bike is road reg'd and already insured for the road under my dads policy but obviously just for him. I have a full bike license so assume it should be quite possible, but just wondering if anybody has any experience of doing this and if so through which companies? Will general insurers do this or will I need to approach an off road specialist company? Will it be easier to add me a…

Quick one and maybe a silly question ! Can the 125's be road registered, they don't seem to be any second hand road reg 125 bikes at all for sale. I know these are mainly for youth riders so probably no need to register but im just wondering if you can register them when bought new ? Cheers
