Does anybody know anything about if or when beta might release a four stroke to the public? I suppose a broader question is, what is the status of the law-suit that had been supposedly filed by gas-gas/beta with the FIM? The crux of that suit pertained to the fact that the bike manufacturers (particularly gg & beta) were angry that the FIM is dictating techology requirements, rather than emissions requirements. One or both have supposedly produced 2T motors that meet or exceed the emissions standards set for the four stroke machines. A lot would hinge on the results of the law-suit as to weather or not we will see 4T machines from these manufacturers in the near te…

I can potter around all day on it no bother,as soon as you grab a big piece of throtle it's like you hit the kill switch. Bit reluctant to start but not too bad, five or six kicks from cold after i'd had the fuel pump out looking for crap, and three kicks when hot. I've give it a basic service recently as I thought it was going down hill a bit. I've put the old air filter back in to check that the new one isn't restrictive, still no joy. No crap in the tank really, just a bit of slight dust. The bike is an 05 and I got a spare throtle body with box of bits that came with the bike,so guess it's had a new one at some point. I'm quite new to the bike, only used …

Not sure if there has been a topic on this before but i couldnt find one anyways so............... Just wondering, went to nord vue yesterday, apart from cabestany, the sherco and beta riders were on 2 strokes. Just wondering why dougie, brown, wigg and all the others dont ride the 4 strokes. obvioulsy the gasgas and montesa riders dont get a choice also in club trials, most people seem to still buy 2 strokes, maybe due to cost? I dunno when the gasgas 4 stroke comes out, will raga ride it, or stick with the 2 stroke? Whats your thoughts?

Got a play on the first one in the US at the TTC weekend! Quite nice! Impressions are,(though quite subjective) quite strong off the bottom, much like the Honda, but will chug down to nothing where the Honda stopps running and spits you over the bars, and still recover with lots of power! After it cought me by surprize and put me on my butt, I respected it a bit more(first to crash it too) after the floater became a flip turn that I was not ready for! Stronger in the lower revs than the 2T 250 I think! Maybe even the 270! After that it seemed to flatten out to a very rideable and linear power much like the 4T Scorpa, which is very linear all the way through the revs, a…

Reading posts about the new Beta due to be unveiled soon, makes all brands but GG with a four stroke in the works. Any news when it will become mandatory for the world championship ? I don't think Beta are getting the jump on Sherco DP, the 3.2 is one hell of a machine to ride, had it's initial problems, I was able to get mine performing, and the factory will no doubt be on top of the job, Fuel injection isn't beyond any of the factories, it may be the cost it adds to the price of the bike that may be the big factor, you get a good bike with the Mont, but you do pay extra for it. I think I read in the last Sherco mail news that they were contesting the WR with fou…

I have heard all the stories that modern unleaded fuel goes off and has a very short shelf life - I was a ltlle scheptical but now I know its true. Took my trusty old TLR to a trial yesterday along with a tin of petrol from the shed - suspect the fuel in the tank was same age - no more than 4 weeks old. Normaly I give the bike a run the day before just to check all is well but this time was a last minute effort. Loads bike on trailer and off I goes, usually i top up with fuel on the way - dont bother since running late. Starts bike on choke - sounds bit rough - unusual for this bike, its normally trouble free and was perf4ect the last time I used it. lots of smoke…

I am of course completely biased, but would it be an idea to have a class for trial competitions limted to four-stroke engined bikes built before 1990? That would make the RTL honda shine once more, and would allow twinshock as well as monoshock bikes to compete in this class...

Kon nichiwa/Hola You know how it is. There are some places that you know the name of, and are really quite familiar with, but you dont actually know where the hell it is! Dewsbury Its happened to me once before. Id accepted a career promotion (in a previous life) to Carlisle and the only thing I was reasonably sure about was that it was north of where I was working at the time! So why Dewsbury? Well, as a dyed in the wool four stroke fan, the only bikes to consider when I started were Sherco, Beta and Montesa. But only the Montesa 4RT had the seemingly effortless grip and power, all with Honda build quality. Now those of you who have read my ramblings in the pas…

Most of the top world riders were in Spain for last weekends Spanish National in preparation for the upcoming worlds I noticed that there were seven factory riders on 4 strokes in the top 11 and only four riders on 2 strokes.

Hi guy's, very friendly greetings from Germany. I like your Forum very much. We have nothing like this here in Germany. I took my 4Rt from my dealer last friday. The bike is brilliant. Very easy to ride, a lot of power. My last five bikes were been all Betas. Different to the Beta is, that I drive the 4 Rt much more in the first gear. The sound of the 4 Rt is a little bit too loud, when you turn the throttle for speed. Best regards, Thomas

First thing I did was take the kill switch off, nothing...not even a pop. There's no spark at the plug. Tried new plug and cleaning earth and connections on coil...nothing. I had done one lap of sections, refilled fuel, couple more sections completed. then stopped to walk a section and would not start...not a pop. Not found anything on a search, I guess they usually don't go wrong much. Is there anything that commonly goes wrong wrong on older bikes? mine is the first 05 model.

How well do the montys start ? my sherco is really random, one trial it will go all day first or second kick then for no apparent reason it will flood or pop and take bloody loads of kicks to start. This happened three times yesterday then calmed down for the last lap. does the fuel injection stop this?
