Bought a 2018 4RT recently & have a couple of questions I hope someone can help with after my first ride at the weekend firstly is the throttle with Montesa written on it a fast or slow action throttle? It does have a black body but seems a little fast secondly regarding the clutch it only bites when the lever is almost fully out, not a big problem but I’d prefer the bite point to be around half way I’ve had a 2T before & used the elf oil, changed to dimpled plates & also Haven (think that’s what they where) friction plates so I’ll be doing the same with the 4RT question is is it worth doing the Friction plates on the 4RT? Or ju…

Hi, im servicing my 315 showa forks. I have removed the various parts and now need the special tool to split the upper and lower tubes. I've searched the honda part number for the special tool but it is discontinued. Can anyone point me in the direction to a tool that will do the job, or if not I'm thinking a nut welded onto a piece of bar. Tia

hello, first of all forgive my english, i'm using a translator I own a montesa 300rr 2018 and I have a problem with it., he bike is very low from the front, the static sag is very large even with the spring fully preloaded. Looking at the user manual, the spacer bushing in the drawing is much larger than the one on my bike, at first glance about 4x more, but since it does not give measurements, I cannot verify it. Does anyone know the size of this cap? I also have a vertigo with a similar fork, but this spacer does not match, so I would like to know the measurement of a 300rr like mine. at all times I am referring to the spacer bushing, marked with the…

Why didn't Honda design a Bash plate with 2 holes in line with the drain plugs so you can drain the oil without taking the sump guard off? Also if they expect you to remove the bash plate to drain the oil why didn't they fit steel inserts in the farme so you are not screwing into alloy? What mare I had had this weekend. First off the rear bolts wouldn't come out so one needed drilling out so I could then rotate the plate to loosen the other one off. I wouldn't mind but new oil came out of the gearbox when i drained it. So this was a waste of time. Then when i tried to put the plate back on the front bolts threads were knackered so needed helicoiling.

Hi there team, I am looking to swap the clutch plates with new and dimpled ones to further reduce the drag. Now I have seen that some offers are different thicknesses and now I am curious. For example, one offer says "1.5mm thick. 0.1mm thicker than original ones.". I see the potential replacing the plates with "these thicker ones" and eliminate the gained less drag via the dimpled plates by putting thicker plates in. So if you have swapped the original to dimpled plates or have knowledge about the original ones, can you please confirm: The thickness of the original plates (please also mention model year of your 315) Which dimpled plates did you use …

I popped out to work today and when I came back I noticed that someone had put a Cota 4RT in the back of my van. I must admit I pleased with thsi bike as considering its age its not in too bad nick. I just need to get the knack of starting it. I am getting better at starting it but its going to take some time to get my leg and brain educated. The only issue is the master cylinder for the front brake spat its fluid out at the shop. So that needs sorting. But thats not a major issue. I would like pointing in the direction of a manual as my google foo seems a bit weak at the moment. I would prefer a hard copy if possible. I just need to learn how to ride this without hurtin…

Hello everybody, new to the forum and to the sport 😀 I bought a 2001 Cota 315R a couple of weeks ago. The bike is in great conditions, but it has been sitting unused for the last 5/6 years. I bled brakes and clutch, lubed the chain, cleaned the carb (standard jetting I think, 110/33, there was a lot of dirt/crud inside) The bike starts without any problems but once I close the choke it idles very rough, like if I am blipping on the throttle rhythmically (not sure how to better explain this, I have a mp3 file with the audio, but I can't attach it here). I sprayed some starting fluid around the intake boot, but I don't see any difference. 1) What do I tr…

Hi. I've recently bought a 315r. It's been suffering with bad clutch drag which I've now sorted with a new clutch pack, master and slave orings, elf oil and all bled up and working perfectly. When removing the clutch slave to inspect the piston and orings I found a pool of fluid inside, initially I thought the piston orings were passing fluid, so they were changed for genuine parts. Since fixing the clutch I've had another look inside the slave cylinder to find another pool of fluid, im presuming this is gearbox oil passing through the hole which the push rod is inserted. So my question is, is it normal for for a small amount of oil to pass through the pu…

I am thinking of revisiting this model, I would use it in trials at a low club level, Now they are so old what's the reality of obtaining parts, gaskets engine parts, gearbox parts etc in the event of a 23 yr old part giving up? Is it scouring the net looking for a used part or certain items being unobtainable... Advise please

How easy is it to get parts for the 315r like can you still get a cdi box and parts for the gearbox. I know mudguards can be cut to shape and the linkage is the same as a 4rt. Or would you be better going for a 4rt now. The bike is for my dad just to ride around on, so he's no worried about the 4 stroke riding style.

Bought a nice s/h 2016 4RT Repsol. One thing I noticed there's a bit slack in the rear likage, so I reckon I need to replace those bearings to make it tight and smooth again. Anyone done it, any pointers what replacement parts to order, Allballs kit?
