Could anybody point me in the right direction to get a copy of a manual for my 1977 Cota 247. I have had my bike a very long time but never got round until now to try and get a manual for it, I must be getting old wanting to know the right way to do things rather than trying to work it out for myself

Hi , I’ve sprung a leak on my alloy tank , right at the back , looks like it’s been repaired before and not a great job , is there someone who repairs these thanks

I have this hub that I am planning to use for a project but I am not sure where it comes from. Someone mentioned it might be an old Montesa unit, could anyone confirm? ID for the sprocket is 130mm, I can post additional measurements if that helps. If it is, where can I find sprockets / brake shoes? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi, I’ve just been getting a 2018 repsol which is practically new. Rode for about 8hours absolutely perfect. Then developed a bit of a splutter , the revs drop and It’s cut out a time or two during the ‘splutter moments’ if I rev. When I’ve looked again, the fan has tried to start and flickers at the exact same time as the engine drops revs and runs very briefly below usual idle speed, before picking itself up again. I’ve swapped plug and cap to new and it’s the same. Cleaned air filter. There’s a host of others things to try that I’ve seen online but was hopeful someone here could identify the issue without me having to tamper too much. Any help would be much appreciated…

Hi everyone,i have a Montesa Cota 247 trail UK registered 1978 but dated on frame numbers as a 1977 model. My question is what type of forks are fitted please as i seem to get two answers in my searches of either Betor or Ceriani. They have the slotted screw in the fork cap with what looks like a bleed mechanism inside it. I am after refurbishing the forks with new springs and perhaps get out workshops to machine up a couple of preload spacers or even fit Magical preload adjusters but knowing what forks i have fitted have stopped me obtaining bits. Hi folks Any help would be appreciated, I'm currently refurbishing my Dad's 1974 Montesa Coat 247 and almost at the finishing line, i'd had issues with no spark at the plug but following a check of points, condenser and wiring I got a spark and had the bike running. So I finished the build (cases and covers on) and after getting the alloy tank pin holes welded, which is why the bike wasn't finished when I got it running I now find after sweating out a few kicks that there's no spark again. I have checked all the wiring connections again and all looks ok. The plug is brand new and when I stick a screwdriver in the plug cap i'm getting a good old dig up the arm. If an…

Hi Can anyone help. I have a Montesa Cota 247 (Oct 1973 i believe) that i have had for about 18 months now that was in a bit of a state when i bought it. Its my intention to make it look a little more like it did when it was born. When i purchased it i spent a couple of hours to see if it would run and low and behold it eventually fired up and sounded really nice ( if you like the sound of these machines that is) I rode it and it seemed quite strong all the gears worked and it seemed like it was more of a cosmetic rather than mechanical rebuild. Hi I'm new to the forum. But can anyone help? Amongst others I've a Cota 348 I'm rebuilding to ride rather than show, so I'm looking for help on alternative front forks as Cota forks seem as rare as hen's teeth. Has anyone experience of fitting forks from other makes that preserve the wheelbase and geometry (or close enough so the handling isn't compromised) of the originals? Cheers

The back brake on my 348 is not great , checked the shoes ,plenty of lining and they are vented , cleaned the dust and give them a rub with sandpaper to take the shine off , applied the brake before tightening the spindle , and they still not great ,any ideas

Trying to get to the crankshaft seal. problems: im new and dont know alot. i have a gear in the way. probably dont have the right tool. solutions: i want to learn i have the time theres a small budget to work with. Are there any 311 familiar people that can help a tip on removing this gear to get to the oil seal. thankyou.

Bob - New from Tucson, Az 67 Montesa LaCross I pulled the Montesa out of the garage after 25 years due to a different location. Life just gets in the way. What amount of oil do I put in front forks on each side? How do I hook up the condenser? Which side of coil? Does wire coming out of engine go to positive side of coil? Bike has set for 25 years - still turns over well. Do I understand that there might be an issue with starting because of the magnets inside of the flywheel. Do they loose their magnetism ? Is there a procedure to start this for the first time? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi everyone, My name is Mike and live in Wiltshire. There seems to be a lot of help and support on this website so maybe someone can help me with my problem... I have just bought a 1980 Montesa Cota 349 which as you can see from the photo is in lovely condition. BUT I can only select 1st, 2nd and neutral gears..The clutch cable had been adjusted to maximum so thought maybe replacing this might help matters bearing in mind I couldn’t select neutral when the engine was running. The new clutch cable was fitted and neutral could now be selected with engine running and also 3rd gear was available if you lifted the lever hard enough ( not ideal ) 4th and 5th are nowhe…
