Montesa

  1. Started by luka,

A while ago I found a online MOntesa parts book of the Montesa 315 as well as a owners manual: http://www.apexmotosports.com/montesa%20parts%20book/e-1.htm http://www.apexmotosports.com/content/mont...hnical-info.php I am sure most of you have seen and used these links. Now, these links seem to be not working anymore after 31 december 2008. I was working on a download of the parts book but only came to a few pages. Has someone a different link to a parts book of the Montesa 315 ? Or did someone maybe save a copy on his computer ? I would be very gratefull if I could get a (link to a) digital partsbook as I need some parts for my Montesa to complete a rebuild.

Hi, I bought a Bultaco 350t Sherpa last year and after many hours of knuckle grazing managed to rebuild and get it road registered. I'm now taking my first tentative steps in trials riding. I've been offered a Montesa/Honda 348 as a project at a reasonable price that will need some work. I'm not sure of the age or anything. Are parts readily available and are there any pitfalls I should be aware of? I learnt a lot with the Bultaco and this forum was huge help so any advice gratefully accepted. Neil

Hi everyone I got this , what i believe to be a cota 200, for free I have many questions and would like to know where i could ource a manual. This bike has not run in around 5 year, and the carb was taken off as it was seized and never returned, so it has been left open, the engine is not sezed, it seems complete, apart from the carb and airbox, it even has an ancient pair of renthals I ordered a new set of points and a condensor, as it was only 20 quid As you can see, you cant make out the frame number very well, an d if the paint was to come of, you would not see it atall, so where is the engine number? I am going to buy a carb, but where can i get an airbox? Her…

Been out with Dad all day today, hes almost going back to the 2 stroke lately due to stalling problems on the bike. Two big get offs for him today due to the bike stalling just at the point of getting back on the throttle. Not sure if this problem is something a 4 stroke will do or just perculiar to his bike or riding style. First off up onto a big slab slopping down hill, gets up on it, blips the throttle to go down just at the point of throwing the body forward and it stalls, chucks him straight over the bars and down the slab. Second, tight turn onto a slopping rock with a 2 foot gap to another, biggish drop to the right. He bridges the gap blips to go and it stalls ju…

I'm sure this has been asked 100 times but I'm looking to find out the year of a montesa I'm looking to buy. Guy says it's 03 or 04 but it has a carbon tank and frame decals which I think are 1998/1999 , I have pictures of the bike and a frame number if anyone could help me out? Second question is once I've found out the year What's a fair price to pay for it? Thanks in advance.

What are the pro's and con's of having 4RT frame either anodised black or polyester powder coated. Quality of finish, cost and durability. Anyone know anyone in the North Yorks or North East who can carry out the work? Thanks

http://www.trial-clu...13/montesa-ddm/ This bike tips the scale at 65 kg and should loose some more weight in the future. I wonder how it wil cope in real life but if your looking for bling this is the ultimate I guess. The fuel tank and air filter swapped places, lots of carbon parts: wheels, handle bars, sump guard... I have my doubts about the belt drive in regards of mud build up...

I've had a Montesa 1998 315R for many years and I'm keen to get a new bike. Quite attached to Montesa for some reason .... but not sure if a brand new 2008 4RT is worth the money. Would a good condition 2005/6/7 be a better bet ? Anything specifically a problem on 2005-2007 models that has been sorted on the 2008 model ? My fellow riders do quite rightly point out that I could buy a 2008 Gas Gas 2T for about 2/3 of the price of a montesa 4RT. Should I block my ears and make childish noises :-) or are they making sense ? Any useful input to help decision making will be much appreciated.

Just drained this out of my Cota 349 as mentioned in a previous post. Should I pull the clutch cover off or just wash it out, refill and see? Cheers.

I did my first Scott yesterday. I was most disappointed that I ran out of fuel before the first fuel stop. Is it normal for the 4RT to be thirsty? I have a S3 280 kit and programmable throttle body with the laia Sanz 280cc map. Want to go back next year to prove to myself that I can get much further, but want to understand why I might have run out of fuel first and this is the only thought I have at the moment.

I am a 175 lb sportsman class rider and am in need of suspension setting tips . I am curious about the preload screw on the lt fork. When I turn it all the way in and back it out 2 turns as per the manual it seems like it is not doing anything except unscrewing the adjuster, in other words no friction or tension is on it when it is turned out 2 turns. As for the comp and rebound adjustments is the compression adjuster on the bottom of the rt fork is it at full compression when turned all the way in ? The rebound adjuster on the rt fork seems to have no effect whether it is turned all the way in or out. I just need a good baseline setting from somebody who understan…
