  2. I have a 1999 montesa 315r and I am not impressed with the front brake performance. I have read some discusions on this website pertaining to getting the 2 pot brake better. I recently saw a '97 315r for sale that had stock forks and a 4 pot brake mounted. When I went to email the owner it was gone and the listing was deleted. What I would like to know is if the 4 pot is a direct bolt on? Will it line up with the disc?

Hi all, I've had a '99 Cota 315r for a few years now and it's served me well, but recently I've been having trouble running it. It starts up (with choke on) fairly easily, and warms up like normal on choke, but when I take it off choke it idles for about 2 minutes, then just cuts out. I can keep it running by constantly revving it, but when I go back to idle it stalls. I've tried setting the idle higher (it's about as high as it can realistically be at the moment) and no change. I've cleaned out the carb recently, and changed the spark plugs. If anyone has any advice, it would be most appreciated. Thanks Chez.

Hi all, My Mont is almost ready! After a 6 month lay-off to fit a new kitchen, move house then decorate the new house I finally found time to get into the garage and fettle the old girl! Aktive reed valves. Chrome down pipe. Rear suspension bearings all renewed. New back tyre. New Air filter. Oil change. .....and a good clean up! Note: Still got the footpegs to clean up/paint. She's already had a 4-pot caliper fitted up fornt, a straight pipe fitted to the silencer and the timing advanced. This old 1999 Mont is NOT short of power. PS. The chrome downpipe from Sandifords had the restrictor welded in place.....had to drill it out with a hole cutter. Ian.

1st gear on the 4ride,standard 10/41 gearing,is the same as 2nd gear on the 4rt on 10/41 gearing. My question is if you ride a Montesa 4rt on 10/41 gearing what would you use 2nd gear for.

I have changed my decompressor so it barely opens, will my 349 Cota start if I setup that way? previously it opened to far and the bike won't start as I think not enough compression?,anyone working this way As i'am going more trail than trials I would like to fit a headlight,I see a cut black/white wire off the coil wire and presume that's a 12v from the charging system which I again presume is a 12v DC dynamo ??? ,can I run a headlight off that?,if DC I won't need a rectifier correct? (thinks that's right) as most newer bikes are AC. Have found a semi period correct headlight which should do for my needs.

Currently riding a Sherco 290 2012 the last of the stop machines.I ride at clubman level, down south, to be honest I find it can be bit of an handful i.e. gets away from me in the technical stuff , I have had a quick go on a 2016 4RT, it is heavier especially the front end although I found the power delivery very linear and precise which was great but I'm just wondering how big a learning curve it will be to change to a 4 stroke ?
