  1. Never mind the bollocks. Before you do anything else at all: First SLACKEN OFF the clamp bolts on the triple trees (holding the fork tubes). Then loosen the fork brace/mudguard stay. Loosen off the wheel spindle nut too. Next twist the wheel, while holding on to the handlebars. Finally, when they look about right, retighten everything.
  2. BVM know about this modification.
  3. Just done my 1922 Sherco 125. Completely disassembling the entire rear shock system. Checked and lubricated everything. Put it back together this afternoon. The frame seems to be mostly the same frame as yours, apart from the front down tube and likely the engine mounts and a few other brackets. The only roller bearings that I saw were inside of the rear shock eyes. These are sealed with O rings, but I took them apart to check anyway. They were perfect. All the other bearings were just plain linear bushes - no Teflon coatings anywhere. I lubricated them with Red "N" Tacky Grease. Those big "spacers" on the two dogbones don't come out! I didn't need to use a hammer or explosives to get it all out/apart and I don't think you will need to either! If something is seized then spray it with Plusgas or a similar penetrating fluid. Thought: I wonder if electrolysis is an issue with electric bikes?

  5. Get yourself a modern Beta/Sherco/TRS 125 two stroke. Much easier to ride.
  6. If you are a novice then you have the wrong bike IMHO.
  7. If you do indeed have both, then why not try them both, then report your findings back here?
  8. How much is the Trial Rider's annual membership for the ACU? I paid around £20. How much is the Trial Rider's annual membership for the AMCA? This year it was apparently £50 so I have not renewed my membership. Another consideration is that the new ACU website is now poor, but, the AMCA website is absolutely awful (in my opinion).
  9. Look for a PROPER Sherpa. Messing about with things is expensive and it will probably be cheaper to buy a genuine, good example of a Sherpa in the long run.
  10. If it was me, first I would put the old spring back in, to check that all is well - that nothing has been omitted or replaced incorrectly - especially the linkage. Then, if all is ok then I would try another replacement spring, because it may be that the spring has not been properly tempered and so will not work correctly when installed in your bike.
  11. I rode new Sherco 250 and 125 two strokes for several years and before that Beta two strokes, competing in Trials - usually Novice sections every week. The first thing I always did was to explore methods for softening the power delivery - flywheel weight, low compression head, retard the ignition, smaller/larger sprockets etc. I tried a Sherco TY125F, but in my opinion it is a Trail bike, not a dedicated Trials bike. "Sherco have no interest in developing this bike for Trials - we just sell them" - quote. Scorpa did limited developement work on a couple of these bikes in 1919, but no longer do so. To make them competitive you will have to do it yourself! (Luckily, in a former life I worked as an Engineer). The power delivery is different on a two stroke, because as the engine revs climb, so the power increases. On this 4 stroke, the power is less, but there is no step-up in power as the revs climb - no power band, just smooth, constant power. Much softer, tractable and controllable power. The Sherco and Scorpa TY 125F are exactly the same, just different graphics. The suspension is fine - as good as on a comparable modern Sherco 125 or a Sherco 250 two stroke (owned both and rode regularly in Trials). The front forks on the TY125F are different from the Sherco 2 strokes, but work well. (The frame and geometry are exactly the same on all of the bikes - only the front down tube is different). Ground clearance is a bit less on the TY125F - perhaps by 25mm. Lighter riders likely wouldn't notice it !!! Brakes are excellent. Fuel consumption is much less than on Sherco two strokes! This uprated rear suspension spring fits, should you need it! : Beta EVO 2T/4T Sachs Heavy Duty Rear Spring - 2015 Onwards - GasGas Sherco Beta | eBay

... "aren't affected by modern fuel" ... Brave comment!

  14. When I see the words "shares" I know that the Moneymen will be chasing a profit. Profit first, everything else comes after that, including Trials.
  15. I have wasted ages on the ACU website trying to renew my membership for 2023, with no success. Anyone else having issues? Thoughts on the new ACU website?
  16. Join the ACU and enter a few trials. Just ride the Novice sections and do the sections that you feel happy doing. Welcome to the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) - Bikesport GB
  17. I have Wulfsport and Gaerne's. The boots offering the best protection by far are Wulfsport. Wulfsport boots are made of thicker, stiffer leather and the soles are much stiffer too. Gaerne's are soft and comfy but offer little ankle protection - I broke my ankle earlier this year wearing my Gaerne boots. It wouldn't have happened if I had my Wulfsport boots on. However, the most popular boot at trials competitions are Gaerne.
  18. Some clubs have a Gentleman's Route, which is basically in through the start gate and out of the end gate, by any route at all.
  19. Bend the kickstart back to it's correct angle: Take the kickstart leaver off. Put it in a vice. Heat it up with a blowlamp, or preferably an oxyacetylene torch to a red colour, then bend it, perhaps using a long length of pipe. When you are happy with the angle then heat it up again to red, then quench it in a bucket of cold water to make it tough again. Simples.
  20. Easy enough to sort out a bent wheel rim. Youtube is your friend here. Don't waste money on buying cheap tyres.
