After another great Trial last weekend - superbly organised last Saturday.... with even more official parking areas with toilets & catering @ popular sections
Sensitive areas (with Dales National Park) were cordoned off and they had gone beyond the call of duty
Hats off to Richmond MCC
However I did notice the arrogance, insensitivity and disregard for what the organisers were trying to do by many 'so called spectators and/or enthusiasts'
People were walking under tapes and into/across cordoned off & signed off areas
People deliberately climbing over dry stone walls when there was an open gate 30 foot further along
People on 'pit bikes' riding across open moorland with a number plate stuck on
People on trials bikes with no obvious number plate on and not part of the team of official marshals (in fact I was overtaken on my trail bike by many trials bikes with no rear number plates)
4x4 drivers & dirt bikes up to 1/4 of a mile from the road on the open fell - illegally driving on moorland where no Right of Way exists - especially bad at ByPass
I know the Police had a job to do, but can you really blame them when the law was being flouted by quite a few 'enthusiasts' who thought it ok to follow the Trial on public roads without insurance and/or licence & 4x4 owners who thought it ok to drive on open moorland up to half a mile from Tarmac which is another offence in itself
Your actions are putting this 102 year old historic motorcycling gem in jeopardy, you selfish so&so's
Let's hope people take heed for 2017 and think about their selfish actions ....... because it is people like you who making it harder for Richmond MCC to obtain planning permissions and landowner consents
Park you vehicle in official car parks, get off your butts and start walking to sections
The message is .....TREAD LIGHTLY

Well said
At ByPass the lengths that some people had gone to get their 4x4 up to the section was frankly unbelievable, some 1/4 mile or more from the tarmac and really taking the mickey - worthy of a S59 for being illegally offroad
Sadly inconsiderate action like this will lead to serious consequences for land usage at the Scott
-
Yep
It's getting worse every year & needs sorting out
Harder to do than say as the road is very narrow there
-
Great result for Dibs and Browny 2nd too
What happened to DL?
Police were out in force, checking everybody & quite a few trials bikes impounded so I heard, saw a Pinky and a few others on a transporter. Did make me wonder what was going on.... as it sped by ?

I got a letter from John Shirt Snr, which DVLA local office accepted
-
Mine was a Jan 1982, nickel frame
Perhaps yours was nickel originally or maybe not - as the nickel finish was optional IIRC and at extra cost
-
October 1981, bike no. 7 made that month - A type.............. adult frame
-
Give us the frame number from the headstock, I think remember the code to decipher it
-
Looks like a Godden framed bike, maybe painted yellow
Definitely an Adult 175 frame, the front downtubes are kinked back towards the barrel (Mini Majesty Youth Frames, had straight downtubes)
Tank is right and even has the opaque rear plastic tank cup holder still, as is the oil pump cover and the majesty chainguard
Looks right to me, you have a good one
-
Confidence is a big thing to overcome
I have suffered a knock this summer and I'm finding it hard to ride bigger stuff, at present
-
-
Buy a programme, from Richmond Club (details on their website) in advance and they'll post it
All the spectator info and maps are in there
-
All RWD Vans are crap in winter Trials fields (my Hiace is)
I park on the Road/Verge/Layby/Moorside outside the venues, if at all possible
Carry a tow rope and shackle
-
2015, I'm still on a 2007
Fine as they are for clubman
If you're in the Experts you will never outride the chassis or engine
-
My oil & filter gets done every 4 trials & so does the transmission with Elf
Air filter every trial in summer & every other in winter
-
I have a road bike cover, but is massive on a skinny trials bike
-
I am thinking of transporting my bike on a rack or open trailer
Sammy Miller used to those trials bike covers in the 1970's
Can you still get anything similar, to keep the road salt off
-
Because Honda can & it's to do with Honda pride in JapanThey believe (rightly or wrongly) that 2t has no place in a modern world - hence the move to 4t in all sectors - including marine & garden
I have all their 4t garden stuff - strimmer and hedge cutter and it's light years in front of Stihl to use & who are the dominant 2t force in that sector and continue to pursue 2t
Honda don't like diesels but market force drove them to produce one - so what did they do ?
They made one of the quietest and efficient Diesel engines in the sector from scratch
I only buy Honda products from garden to car to bikes as they are the world leaders in engine design and unlike many other automotive companies they design & build their own engines
Apart from Honda - I also buy Toyota who do the same as Honda - but Honda don't make a van or a 4x4 pickup for me to buy
-
The Honda manual for the 4RT is brilliant - so you are incorrect on that score
The Honda EFI for the 4RT is fit for purpose 11 years on & still doesn't need a battery
In my book Honda got it right first time
I don't care about 2 strokes as they don't interest me
Honda brought it in for the 4RT in 2005 - but that wasn't the fully story
They needed to meet global emissions targets on the thousands of small bikes it sells in remote areas
Hence they need to move away from 4t carbs and pioneer a battery free EFI system for use in areas where they have no electric on sub 125cc bikes
-
If it's too high, then you can slow the gearing down to compensate, like I did
Experts can cope with 1600-1800 rpm & 10/41 gearing
-
Exactly - Honda have the time & money to get it right ..., first time
-
2017 bikes must have twinshocks
-
What about pre95 watercooled Mono's
We need a class for them now
