Glad you can logon to this thread

Thanks, all great info
He can read the thread (he can't log in to TC, but I'll get him to contact Andy to reset his username tonight) and will reply later
It seemed to start with the bike (bought used, but hardly used) which had a PTB fitted and when fitted with the stock TB it resolved it but has now returned to being problematic
Fuel pump seems to be worth a look
-
He's checked the loom and earth, but will do it all again
-
Got a mate, with a few problems with his bike and wondering if anyone can help me, to help him
My Montesa 4RT will start but won't run.
Once started it runs for only a couple of seconds then stops.
It will re-start but same thing again.
Bike has recently had a brand new stator, new throttle body and condenser.
I've tried new plug, all connections etc.
Anyone ever had this before or suggest what to check next.
Thanks

Aha, so it was you that bought it
Put some pics up, as you go please
-
I don't think you can without changing the type classification & having a vehicle inspection or applying for it to be a Kombi or camper (must have a bed/cooker) have a look at Kombi versions to see for sure or ask a dealer

Looks fab, proper social trial - instead of rushing home at the end
-
I use both, belt and braces bearing in mind the price of 'em
-
Which gear were you using, same as your old GG?
Maybe a different approach on a 300?
-
-
Out of sight then, covered box trailer or van to and from events/practice
Open trailers or bike racks are too visible
-
-
People go round in circles modding old bikes and can't remember if they were better or worse than before..............but justify it to themselves, saying it must be......... because the mod cost them £500
-
Aye....... the one I had new in 1985 had to have a 'carb mod' to it
-
Sorry to hear that, will keep my eyes peeled
Were your bikes 'watched' to know they were there, followed home etc ?
-
Up here in Yorkshire I see a fair few riders, going gloveless all day at a Trial
Do you wear gloves and not bother ever
Do you get better control, going gloveless??
-
Gloves now on both hands, maybe he dropped one in the earlier picture and just rode on
-
Agreed, why do we?
My Repsol is bone stock, just the carbon stuff
Got me there
-
Glove on left hand, but not throttle hand............never knew that
The tinkerers today would have a field day with that bike, footpegs too high & too narrow (steel too, how much extra weight)
Top yoke clamps too far back and they'd straighten up the clamps, drum brakes - you'd have to fit a front disc (a la Pinky).
Maybe tubeless rear rim too as those tubed tyres will never win you a Trial
Lights too, they'd have to go, as you'd never win a Trial today..... with all that extra weight of a speedo and lights
My oh my, how we have tinkered with old bikes in 2017, doubt they're any better nowadays... than the bike Scarlett won that Trial on
-
Still considering a '17 260 Repsol...........especially as they come with a twin map PTB
Do they still have Showa forks on the '17 Repsol?
-
I really can't believe I am reading this ?
-
You see very few adult riders in Yorkshire & North East wearing gloves............it affects their 'honed' riding skills
-
I wouldn't have one, seem more trouble than they're worth in adult trials
-
Put the bike on a stand, sandwich loose bashplate in position
Offer bolts, for and aft and loosely enter any that are close to lined up
If you have a couple of bolts lined up and partially tightened up, then manipulate the bashplate, to the ones you need to enter, by leaning your weight on bike & stand, using ratchet straps to help line it up or if it's really bent try to straighten the bash plate up, off the bike with a lump hammer and then offer it back up
It is a cursed thing, at times............I now have a Mitani one and that's not much better
Funnily the TYZ one, never goes out of shape at all and just bolts right up easily
