  1. I understand from Ross that the JTG rode very well and was great across the moors. As most people know he's been a gasser man for a long time so for him to change must mean the bikes good. Ross' dad Mick is one of the best tuners in the country for a gasser and he's more than pleased with the JTG too. Ross is certainly riding it well and said the bike straight out the box is as good as it gets. ok a water seal can go on any bike so that's not indicative of an inherent design flaw. The next bike for me will be a JTG for sure and I'm a gasser man
  2. Ah I see your riding ! Nice one Wished I had got sorted and got a entry in now Have a good ride
  3. Firstly I am not opposed to no-stop ( i have an open mind on it) but the obvious 'pit-fall' is the availability of suitable terrain. Its much easier to throw in a tight turn into a step or something to make it harder for the better riders but when you cant do that what sensible options are there ? When I've marked out sections, I want to make the section challenging but enjoyable and its hard if the available terrain isn't there. For JC - Atomant - AKA Ian Beardsall
  4. Thats just too easy - Those chav-mobiles have had their day
  5. Just trying to get a response from Andy to get a bit of much needed banter going
  6. You mean the Scottish education system paid for by the English ! Our English hard earned taxes going to waste yet again .....
  7. I have seen some of the sections on youtube and they looked awesome - I wish I had gone to see that. The terrain looked as good as it gets
  8. This is what I was referring to in earlier posts. It would be possible with some clever imagination and the knowledge of the skills of modern riders/machines to take this much farther than ever before with no-stop rules making it exciting to ride and watch. Obviously the course plotters got the Victory spot-on and I know that Ross Danby who won it on the hard route dropping 4 marks, said the flow of the sections was excellent. Good job
  9. I'm sorry guys but why exactly do you have to be at an event before you have the 'right' to proffer an opinion on something? I wasn't at 9/11 but me and probably 4 billion people who also weren't will have an opinion on it and they have the right to express it whether its deemed B*****ks or not. This is after all an open trials related forum and by that very fact, people should be able to say what they want as long as its within the forum rules.
  10. 'I'm very against the reversion to old rules for just the elite six events,' 'Until the ACU/clubs promote the events properly they will not be a shop window to our sport which they should be under whatever set of rules.' 'Why then cant they have just six elite btc events on fim rules defeats me.' 'the rules should match the fim' 'surely no stop and a practise lap is daft?' Some really great supportive comments here dabster !
  11. From my experience, a 300 is definitely too much for a trials beginner unless they have the touch of a buddhist monk on the throttle!
  12. This is a really interesting thread with a lot of educated sensible comments ........ but getting back to the point, ultimately, what is the BTC aiming to achieve? It obviously is not to prepare the best riders in the UK for the European and World rounds so lets just forget all this arguing and accept for at least this year, it will be no-stop and lets see if we can make it as good as it can be:) CoC's .....its all in your hands !
  13. I agree with that too!. Is the ACU expecting the FIM to adopt no-stop rules at some point then?
  14. I don't think you can compare a one off special trial like the SSDT (which I would argue is more about the event itself than the sections) with the BTC and no-stop rules. For the rest of the season in Europe/World doing outdoor/indoor its all stop allowed for the top boys. So it makes sense to keep it all consistent doesn't it? It also appears to be very difficult even with the special terrain they have in Scotland, to make a no-stop trial that will challenge these boys and keep it interesting.
  15. Sorry but that is nonsense. People watching DO buy ... but that aside, when I say it can be made more spectacular what I mean is it can be made more interesting to ride and more interesting to watch. To me its simple. You cant spend years allowing a certain set of skills to be developed based on extreme balancing/splatting etc and then totally discard most of it. So what I can imagine, is a way of taking those skills and using them in new ways. You only need to watch Bou in practice to see him do a few cool flip turns in the air etc to think of ways of incorporating them into a section. It would take it to another level and move on from the new(old) style of no-stop. The only thing that would hinder it is having the terrain to be able to produce sections like this, but im sure it would be both exciting to ride and exciting to watch. IMHO
  16. Having watched the video all I see is super modern machines, being ridden by super modern riders, riding sections 100 years old! How anyone can think thats the way forward is beyond me. But saying that, with some clever section plotting it could be made to be spectacular! but thats all down to the terrain available and if its not there,........ well you cant polish a turd! ( Ishy taught me that bless him)
  17. Looks like Ross Danby's first serious outing on the Jotagas got off to a flying start finishing fourth in front of some great riders.Well done Team Danby
  18. Ross rode his in the Lomax S3 which was his first outing. The bike went very well by all accounts and Ross was 2nd on observed behind (Sam Haslam) but time penalties put him into third overall. Afterwards, Ross was very upbeat and very pleased with how the bike performed.
  19. No Andy, I know your tempted but dont go for it ....

    Japan Tc

Did you watch some of other other videos from that group? Those sections look tough !
  21. Just stating the obvious but surely its all in the design of the section. The issue is more to do with what the course plotters have to work with in relation to the terrain available.
  22. atomant

    Jotagas - ?

I would agree he's a top line rider too
  23. atomant

    Jotagas - ?

who do you regard as a 'top line' rider then?
  24. Mr Bou is not of this world. He's an Alien of some kind. Nobody should be able to do what he does anyway.... this debate has been had many times with polarized support in both camps non-stop versus stop allowed. Considering this is just a 'hobby', people do seem to get ever so wound up about it. If you are going home after a trial with a major grump on thinking that observer gave me a 5 when he shouldn't have, it probably was a 5 so just take it on the chin and go home with the thought you are damn lucky to be able to enjoy the sport at all in the first place!
