  1. Yes and as a participation sport, the riders at what ever level need to be challenged. I know these guys want to be in a position where if they drop some marks there will be somewhere where they think they can get it back. It seems the whole trial rested on this one section so no wonder there was some angst with the riders when the observation wasn't deemed consistent.
  2. I can say that because that's what it was. He rode the section before him better than anyone else complying to the rules but the section and the style is hardly inspiring to watch is it?
  3. Thorpey got that right to the letter to the no stop rules, but it was as dull as ditch water to watch it. If that's the future of trials for the top boys then game over!
  4. I don't see it's the factories fault for offering contracts. Contracts are open for negotiation of course and if you don't like it, you don't sign and I don't see many riders who are offered contracts turning them down unless a better offer is available. I think its just an aspirational thing from the parents. Very natural of course to want to see your children do well at something, unfortunately if they choose trials then you need very deep pockets!
  5. Unless you become top 3 in the world, you have no chance of recouping the investment made to get that good in the first place. All the riders Dabster mentioned were never going to be top three so quite wisely then dropped out. My view is you can't look at trials as a career, Its just an expensive hobby.
  6. Not sure if this has been posted but found this and hell it is very funny you will be crying! need to watch it all http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0akGHQElpyw
  7. Sod the rider... put the parachute on the bike! Jeez.......
  8. It hurts me to say this, but the immediate future of trials today isnt with the youth. It is as said above, with the people coming back into the sport. My opinion is based on my own experience. With mention of the support of Jack Sheppard from his family whilst extremely admirable, is no different than the sacrifices of ALL the youth riders families supporting their offspring albeit in different ways. If the youth were the future, then there would be an overwhelming level of financial support going their way from the sport, but there isn't. We've discussed on here before this thorny subject with myself being quite vocal on the subject, and it was quite clear that most riders couldn't give a toss if youth x made world champion.
  9. Im the the product and process development and manufacture of Food/Medical packaging. We are fortunate that we have just had our best trading year to date. My problem is being able to find any good engineers which have the necessary skills and experience that I need! I've been trying for 8 months now using local and national advertising. Using a host of agency's and out of the few decent CV's I have seen, when interviewed, they are woefully short of what I need. I pay good rates for the job so its not a salary thing. Even with engineering suppliers, I had to tell the owner of the company who supplied a faulty part how to correct the error because he didn't know how to do it. it's a real sad state of affairs The work is there in some places, its just we don't have the personnel to fit the jobs available.
  10. @ 2.23 - I knew Bill Clinton would want to get that one covered!

  12. Little Tommy, 5 years old playing with his train set with his mum watching him whilst cooking the tea when he says. 'Now all you knobs arriving on platform 14, get off the bloody train as the next lot of twats are waiting to get on' Tommy's mother said, "Tommy, that is terrible, you cant say things like that now get to your bedroom now..." So off tommy goes to his bedroom... 2 hours later mummy goes in and says ' Are you going to play with your train set properly now?" and tommy says "OK" So Tommy starts playing again with his train set and says, " For all passengers arriving on platform 14, we hope you have had a pleasant trip. Please ensure you take all your belongings and leave the train safely on the left" Mummy looks at tommy and smiles and says'" That's better Tommy" Tommy carries on, "and all passengers leaving for Portsmouth on platform 12,sorry if you're p****d off with the 2 hour delay, but blame the bitch in the kitchen..."

    TR 280

    I agree totally
  21. OSSA looks pretty good to me Fajardo looks a little bit stressed under the pressure and the sections are boring and far too technical in my opinion. Online coverage seems to be working ok with no buffering
