Its TOM SAGAR not Sager
He rode pretty well too
-
Lisa first! You boys are sooooooo predictable. Typically blond and curvaceous!............... I went for Elizabeth myself
Look at it another way, which one would you least be likely to choose?
-
After watching him on a trials bike, It doesn't surprise me. The man has definitely got some bottle
I wish they could spell Tom's name right though
-
The writings on the wall and apathy within trials is abundant! I will never do the SSDT myself (come to my sense's) but I certainly wouldn't want to see it disappear!
The mounting threats to trials is something I would like to get my teeth into but for me the timings all wrong, when I retire in 5 years then I would have the time to get stuck in. Whether that will be too late I just don't know.
-
I wasn't too sure thats why I said "young people" and not "young boy" as I know of a few guys that have started wearing pink shirts as its meant to be trendy to get close to your feminine side apparently
-
Andy, I'd have to agree.
Funny but maybe trials just wouldn't be the same if it became all professional. Maybe we should accept these odities as part of the great sport of trials and enjoy attending trials where things are different from any other event. I'm sure there is a perfect mix of rules out there somewhere but I doubt if any one club is using them all.
When you start thinking of the oddities, the list goes on for ever.. and thats just Andy & Jake Really though, the oddities are plentiful and virtually everyone who's been in trials has experienced a lot of them but not many will have experienced all of them I would suggest. Its when you look through the eyes of someone like ScottT, it becomes quite thought provoking as to what trials really is, and by the many post's we have seen lately on a variety of topics, its clear it is many things to different people.
My views are well known. I want trials to become more professional and move away from it being an oddity simply because I do not believe it will survive. Looking at the many challenges facing trials in the foreseeable future, can you honestly see things getting better unless we start collectively addressing these challenges?
One final thought, the Dodo bird was an oddity and looked what happened to that
IMHO
This is a great thread and could go run and run
-
No, not boring, just professional!
-
Very nice job
Are you going to compete on it?
-
That was a superb post! And like Scorpa3 above, there are loads more you could add.
Amongst the many good points you made, this one I can never understand why it hasn't been fixed.
I have seen so many different colour systems even in local centres that mistakes for going through the wrong gates are rife! This could be fixed simply by the ACU by specifying the route colours and system and then everyone has to follow that. Why has it never been done?
-
Very nice gate at the bottom of that section. Best piece of fence on the whole farm!
Did you put that up by any chance Pete ?
-
Yeah, I noticed that the right one had the sole coming away then all off a sudden it was repaired . Looked dead funny, but matched your retro 80's look
-
I got some video from the day and will post some up on you tube when I have done them all...
Well, we had a visit from Justin's mate ... The Legend! and here is the man in action.
-
Either Joe had a superb ride or the sections were too tough for the 125 for Joe & Ross to be so far apart IMHO
Replying to my own posts here !! but looks like Ross had a disastrous second lap doubling his score on the first lap . I don't know what happened as yet so can't comment.
-
I understand your sentiments and I entirely agree. There are a lot of clubs out there that need young people like you

Looked tough by the scores!

John Cowley let me have a go on his Rev4 after last weeks trial and I was able to ride it in the sections that we'd just done.
The Rev4 feels as if it would be perfect for a novice or clubman rider. I was impressed how soft and forgiving it was, which sounds the opposite from the new Sherco from what you say Ian.
I haven't been on one of them yet Pete although I watched one close up at the British Champs a few weeks ago and it certainly went ok and it did look pretty smooth. Athough having said that, I have been on a few Beta's in the past and I just don't like the geometry of its set up, plus the rear suspension just doesn't feel right (to me that is). Better put the Beta 4T engine in a GasGas frame and job done !
How about a TXT80 with a Rev4 engine?
Sounds about right for you Pete

O, forgot to mention. Justin let me have a go on his new Cabestany 290. That is a lovely machine. Everything about it gives the look and feel of quality. Strong low down torque with smooth mid range and frightening top end (for me anyway). Very nice bit of kit.
I also got to have a go on Mikes new Sherco 4T. The bike is completely different to the 05 I had. I didn't recognise it at all. It may have been how Mikes got it set up but the clutch was pretty easy on the finger to operate but it bit pretty quick. It was hard to get it into a position to hold on the clutch. It feels like they have upped the compression as a little twist on the throttle and it jumps away from you. They have a Keihin instead of the Dellorto VHST fitted as standard but I fitted a Keihin on mine and it still didn't ride like this.
The good news is it didn't seem to have any starting problems. I didn't need to use the hot start at all (and it was very hot here yesterday). It popped a couple of times but started ok after
The summary is it is now very much a handful to ride for a novice like me. Such a shame as the engine in the 05 was spot on before
-
Some nice GasGas ones would look nice! what about it
-
Ahh, but what would you think if some people in your club were taking honorariums (cash pay outs) when you (and maybe others) weren't getting a penny ?
-
Damn Hot matey but was a good laugh. I got video footage and will sort it out in a bit and try and do something special for the Legend
Echo your sentiments to Pete. Thanks Pete for the day amd the Tea & Cake and also for the directions
-
Well, loading the bike up now and off shortly so see you guys there. I will bring some 3 in 1 for the bailer twine hinges
Bringing the video too so hope to see some sterling efforts from you guys
-
Im gonna get there around 9.30ish too all being well
-
Correct, and it was still pre-production. A lot of development since then. One of the main issues behind all the clutch swapping, at the world round, was the language barrier. What Tad wanted, versus what was being asked for, caused changes to be made in the wrong direction. That debut, and the problems, did a lot to damage peoples perception of the bike, including my own. But, fortunately, not enough to stop me getting one!
Ahhhh. So that explains why I saw him flying around in the practice arena at the TTC revving the bike and dropping the clutch repetitiously and murmuring Polish expletives (or thats what I imagined they were)
