  1. F1 is a little like Honda Montesa in Trials - The most successful teams have loads of dosh so they get the best drivers, mechanics, designers etc etc and they spend the most on development. When you look at the lap qualifying times, theres just 10ths of a second between the top few, then it levels out to be as much as a few secs to the back of the grid. Considering the millions they spend on running the 'slowest' car its amazing any sponsor would support it. Just think what they would get if they spent the money on a trials team! It also makes you wonder why the drivers 6th on the grid and beyond bother at all And another thing.. I thought the race today was boring and the pit stops just leave you confused as to who is winning. They are expecting the punters to do so some maths whilst the race is on! NOT a good idea me thinks
  2. Grattarola 1st, Browny 2nd, Wiggy 3rd, dont know who came 4th, Haslam 5th, Lee 6th, Elwood 12th. Not official - just got it by phone.
  3. Sam is down on the pre-entry list so he should have been there
  4. There is a fair bit of overtaking in the middle to last order of an F1 race. The front cars are just so closely matched (taken by the qualifying laps) that its hard to see where they can get the extra bit to overtake. Slipstreaming seems the only option as the front driver knows that if they go round at lap time, then the driver behind just isn't gonna get past. Mansell use to pull off some amazing overtaking maneuver's though so it is possible
  5. Is it the case though that no one fear intervene in case they get stabbed or injured in some way. Or another possibility could be with the way the law is at the moment, if you are the burglar, you seem to have more protection under the law than the victim I remember reading sometime ago an incident in NYC whereby some person got stabbed and was dieing and a doctor who was nearby, went to assist. He had no instruments or any other medical dressings etc on himself but tried to assist as best possible. The person was hemorrhaging blood quite severely and someone offered their shirt as a wound dressing of which he used. He successfully stopped the loss of blood but it took a bit of time. The medics arrived and took him to hospital. He eventually died whilst on the way to the hospital due to too much blood loss. Now, after the event. The doctor who went to assist was successfully sued for causing the death by not administering the 'bandage' fast enough and correctly. . Is it hardly surprising no one bothers anymore... .....Unless you're a Glaswegian airport worker of course then its nae bother
  6. Cool - an anaerobic piston engine! Suitable for those wet SSDT sections when a mini submersible would be more suitable
  7. Got my bike back from Mick's today so I will be there tomorrow after all. Mick's has modified the clutch (coz of my smashed fingers) and I reckon I must have the lightest Raga '05 clutch in the country
  8. What he said The man has it all. Imagine a rider going from youth 125 and going straight to WTC adults and beating them all first year. I couldn't imagine that could you? He has an old head on young shoulders and is simply an amazing individual. Jenson Button is simply nowhere near the same class. IMHO
  9. Really should make the effort to see Nant Mawr Quarry, I've heard so much about it over the last couple of years but never been. BHMCC have had many trials there of course. This panoramic picture doesn't do it justice but there are some great sections to be had in there Heres a vid of Ross at Nantmawr
  10. Patrick Smage speaks..... " Hey Craig... Wheres my ****ing dosh"
  11. ARRRRGGHHH . My bike wont be back from Micks till next week
  12. It simply makes good business sense and by the comments above, their is a market for it so why not exploit it.
  13. Riding a trial and doing pretty well I got on the last loop and was nearly out of petrol with only 3 sections to ride. If I went clean on the last sections I was confident of a win. I didn't want to risk running out of petrol so switched it to reserve. Rode into the section and coming to the last part of the section, which was up a bank in a stream, I got half way and it cuts out! I slide back ass first into the stream with the bike on top of me. Well miffed at the bike cutting out I drag the bike out the section and start ranting at the bike. Another rider comes over and after I explained what had happened he points out that I had actually been riding the bike on reserve from the start of the trial and when I thought I was turning it to reserve, I actually turned it off
  14. There is money being made in trials but unfortunately, its not enough! Its probably enough to make a decent living for a few and for the rest, keeping the head above water would be about right. When you talk about 'big bucks' for the FIM again I think you are mistaken. Sports make big money when the are commercially exploited of which trials isn't one of them. I am one person who thinks it could be but at the moment, its not. When theres more money (if ever) then maybe it would be possible, but until then, its the lucky ones who get a go at it, the rest will have to just dream! Thats life IMHO
  15. I wonder if the other top makes will go the same way as KTM? KTM X Bow
  16. Yup, Pat done the stuff we knew he was capable of. Top marks also go to the guys back in the US for getting behind him and giving him the chance on the world stage. The boy has done you all proud
  17. Well done Pat Holding off Gomez for the win after the first lap was excellent! . Graig will be partying all day no doubt!
  18. Don't hold it against him. Some folks are just prone to making bad choices! I know, being a Montesa dealer must suck
  19. Looked pretty impressive but wheres the brakes
  20. Wow , that looks a tidy job ! nice one
  21. I'll go with that Justin. Sounds good to me On the acu- sport moto mag, I think the comments are valid although I for one have mentioned that a big problem with the ACU in the past, has been poor communication and at least they are making an effort. It does appear though that its not what people want so maybe they should spend our money differently? I think the effort made by John Collins on this site has been much more relevant and far more appreciated. In the short time he has been posting, we have learnt far more than we would ever do reading the acu mag! I suggest, save the money and keep John going with a good cuppa by a warm fire and a laptop (and the odd Tunnock's Caramel wafer)
  22. How cool is that ! Now where was that post that said Dougie wasn't a good ambassador
