  1. I would check your reed valves for wear (frayed edges). My 315 ran similar to that back in the day when I had one. I replaced them twice over a nine year period of ownership. Admittedly I put a massive amount of miles on her.
  2. What I would like to know is why your immaculate TLR200 is up for sale on this website, and you are going back to aTL125 as a replacement. I cant comment on the CG engine but have a bored and stroked TL125 to 175cc that works much better than a stock 125 engine which Honda say have a whole 8 horsepower. Also have put XR200 engines in TL125 frames over the years (done three) which are a huge improvement over the 125 engine. Mild cam, small carb, restrictive exhaust etc. with the xr engines.
  3. As mentioned the 200 cota is a 175cc. THE 172 cota it is based on is a 154cc. From memory they were 1982, 1983 and 1984 but could be mistaken on that.
  4. A bit rocky in spots. Looks like a grand day out.
  5. We always ran stock XR200R pistons which are 10.1. The increase in compression will give the engine a lot more snap, but doesn't make it any harder to ride. The stock XR200 piston is cast not forged, also you have to buy everything separetly, piston , rings, wrist pin, cirlips, so it gets expensive. Nowadays most people use the wiesco piston kit, it comes with everything and is much cheaper. It is 10.25.1 compression ratio but I cant tell the difference. The wiesco is forged and much higher quality than the stock cast Honda pistons and works great. The ATC200X cylinder and all the other ATC200's as well are 192cc versus the 195cc of the XL,XR,TLR engines, so since you have to remove so much cylinder material when boring, just go with the smallest wiesco piston 65.5mm. The outside diameter of the cylinder sleeve is the same on the 200X as the reflex sleeve so don't worry about making the sleeve too thin. Wiesco make 4 oversizes up to 67mm in .5 mm increments. Many vendors on U S ebay sell the wiesco piston, listed under XR200 so lots of competition for your business hence low prices if you look carefully.
  6. A friend had a 1998 TX320 gasgas from new, he had it for over 10 years before upgrading, it was a good bike. TX is the important part to remember when looking for info, as the later pro model gasgas is called TXT. They were made at least 1997-1999 I believe if not longer.
  7. No that's a standard cylinder. It would be off the more common ATC200M, ATC200S or ATC 200ES these three were the more common utilitarian automatic clutch 200's. The ATC200X was a racer with a manual clutch and a forwards kickstarter like a fantic trials bike. The ATC200X was only manufactured those three years I mentioned and sold in small quantities, hence why they are so sought after. The big fin cylinder is very obvious as it is much larger on the exterior.
  8. The 1986 and later ATC200X engine is completely different than your xr200/tlr200 engine family. Nothing is in interchangeable from the 1986 and later 200x engine and any tlr/xr engine. You need to look for a 1983-1985 ATC200X cylinder, which will bolt on with no modifications. Be aware if you are looking on American ebay, most 83-85 atc200x cylinders listed are scams by fraudsters and are just regular small fin cylinders. The supply of big fin ATC200X 1983-1985 cylinders has almost dried up because of the great demand and some people are trying to sell anything. I've done many of these swaps over the years.
  9. I believe the 1999 was the last year for the paoli fork, if so its 360cc of 5 weight per side.
  10. I have used 10 and 50 for over 25 years. Tried many different combinations but always went back to this. Also use the bike in enduroes with this gearing believe it or not.

    Tl125 Pipes

At the start of the pipe 1 1/4 inch, at the end of the pipe 1 1/4 inch. Slightly squished down at the tight bend to around 1 3/16. Incidently the Sammy Miller header is exactly a copy of the stock pipe, except finished in chrome.
  12. The CRF250R is a different bore and stroke than the 4RT.
  13. Classic symptom of worn main bearings in a two stroke.
  14. Dan is right 311 cota. They were only made in 92-93. Also known as the last of the real montesas, called that because were the last Montesa with a Spanish designed and built engine. The 314 cota had a Japanese Honda engine 1994-1996. A friend local to me has a 311 gets used weekly, good solid reliable bike. No problem getting parts.
  15. Now you will remember to turn off the fuel tap every time you hit the kill switch.
  16. No, it was discontinued by the factory because of low volume. I believe the parts to convert a 125 to 173 are still sold by the manufacturer. That decision by gas gas has done wonders for beta 200 sales.
  17. That's a Honda CG125 engine. Its a pushrod engine not overhead cam which the TL125,XL125,TLR200,XR200 etc all are. It came in the Honda 125 street bike. They were never sold over here in North America. They are torquier than the ohc engine. I believe the lower engine mounts are the same as the TL, XL engine, as I have heard of people in the U.K. using them in the TL125 frame.
  18. Never heard of a XR125 if it is a XL125 it will work fine. The 1979 and later XL125 is much better than the 1978 and earlier, has stronger k/s gears, electronic ignition, bigger valves, improved cam chain tensioner and a six speed transmission. The main difference between a TL125 engine is the first three gears are very close on the TL , and compression ratio 8.1 on TL, 9.1 on XL. An XL engine will work great, transmission ratios in the XL box are not an issue when the overall gearing is lowered for trials use.
  19. I have some experience with these cheap Chinese Honda copy engines and they are truly worth pennies.Used genuine Honda 125 engines are cheap and common both in the u.k. and north America.
  20. I don't know if this is any help, but have used a vm22 on a Honda TL125 for over 20 years. As a stock engine size (125)used 110 mainjet, 25 pilot, 2.0 slide cutaway, don't have needle written down. As a 200cc in the same bike, same carb, used 120 mainjet. Using a 100 main jet with your 350cc engine would seem to be very small.
  21. The engine is made in japan, the motorcycle is assembled in spain. Scroll down 10 threads to the Montesa 4rt thread, page after page of testimonials to the reliability of the 4rt.

    Sy250F

    Yamaha YZ250F 2007.
  23. As stated it is definitely a fox shock, as to whether it was a fox twinshock shock or origonaly a monoshock easy to determine as a monoshock shaft was 5/8 and the twinshocks were 1/2. Regarding lengths of fox twinshocks, I had a 16 inch set on a Honda in the 1980s. I should say they were 16 inch long fox trial shocks not mx.
  24. You can just go ahead and unplug the street electrical parts, on a reflex. The ignition system is not affected.
  25. No problem accessing trials and tribulations website from British Columbia, Canada.
