  1. This seems logical to me? US growth hormone beef exports threaten 200-300% tarrif on small displacement motorcycles imported to the US replaced with tariff on
  2. I posted this text on thumpertalk and just copied and pasted it here. Some of the content is appropriate for this thread. I have a 2007 Scorpa SY250F and I have been quite happy with it. I am not sure why anyone would say that it is loud because most of the 4-strokes I have heard are very quiet. From quiet to loud I would say the order for 4-strokes would be: Beta 250 / 300, Scorpa SY250F, Sherco 3.2, and the loudest is the Montesa. Of these four the only one that I feel is louder than typical 2-strokes, in normal operating conditions, is the Montesa. At an idle the Montesa is very, very quiet but at any rpm above that the sound level is inappropriate, even with all the stock exhaust restrictors in place. The Beta is easily quieter than any trials bike produced. The SY250F has a robust tone but is similar in volume to trials 2-strokes. The Sherco 3.2 may be a little louder at high rpms but mere mortals won
  3. According to the GasGas USA site the new 350cc 4-stroke comes in at .07441 US ton.
  4. Rather than start a new similar thread I thought I would just hijack this one. Not many people talk about the SY250F (except me) so here we go again. I put an hour meter on my bike when it was new to help keep track of maintenance and repairs. The brain is getting old ya know!! I just rolled over 300 hours so I thought I would check the valve clearance again and do the usual oil change, air filter etc. maintenance. I said check the valve clearance again because I have checked them multiple times before and they have always been in spec. This time the intakes needed adjusting. The exhausts were in spec. The two outer intakes were one shim size loose and the center intake was one shim size tight. I had been reusing the valve cover gasket each of my previous checks so this time I put in a new one. First valve adjustment 300 hours in, seems pretty reasonable to me. So it
  5. I am pretty sure that the TPCF only applies to Weight or Gravity and not to age. Frank I for one would love to see 100+. One thing for sure is that the WTC should be more exciting with more brands being competitive!!
  6. Well, the dirt is on what he calls the front side, so that must be correct, Right? Frank
  7. First off let me say that I am relatively reluctant to participate in this forum as well as forums in general. I don

  9. This is an interesting subject. Although I am pretty happy with the two units I have with five valve heads I think the writing is on the wall and this configuration
  10. So now you want instant results too? or are the above statements by two different people. Has Lane taken over your computer?
  11. I have had good luck straightening rotors in the past using a dial indicator and a large adjustable wrench. I have not tried this with a floating rotor but it works well with one mounted solidly to the hub, with the rotor still on the wheel still on the bike. I have a thin piece of scrap steel, about 12 x 12 inches, that I lay on my work stand top or on the floor below the wheel if you are working on the floor. Using a dial indicator with a magnetic base, secure the mag base to the scrap sheet and place the dial tip against the rotor. Rotate the wheel to find the high or low spot(s). In the center of the bend place the wrench over the disk, with it adjusted tightly to the thickness of the disk. Pull or push the end of the wrench in the direction needed to correct the bend. Then spin the wheel again to check your result. You will probably have to over bend more than you think to get it straight but you will develop a feel for it as you go. Good luck. Frank The same setup works for truing wheels too!!

  13. Wow, this is timely. I just went on the NATC site to see about today
  14. My SY250F came with a CD that includes part #s or you can look at the RYP website for the same. In general Yamaha model codes are 3 digit #s like 5UM for a WR250. It appears that Scorpa uses 4 digit model codes like S10B for a SY250F. Yamaha part #s are in two formats xxx-xxxxx-xx-xx or xxxxx-xxxxx-xx but it appears Scorpa numbers are xxxx-xxxxx-xx-xx. So if a part # starts with 4 digits xxxx I

    Premix Ratio

Unleaded Premium straight up in the SYF, Same Same in the WRF, Diesel in the Sprinter, Yamalube 2cycle oil injected in the AT3 and RZ500. And South Paw Light in the pilot of all the above! Frank

    Premix Ratio

I have always used mix ratios based on the oil manufacturers recommendation and the type of riding application. For example I mixed Golden Spectro Oil or Duralube Oil at 50 to 1 in my Yamaha YZ125 or YZ250 off road bike but mixed the same oil at 70 to 1 in my GG300 Pro. In general Trials applications can run a much leaner fuel to oil ratio than off road or MX bikes. Frank
