  1. saw the all black and thought he'd jumped ship to xispa. looks alright but prefer the white frame ones.
  2. it would have being but with all the price increases and the price of a mont now prices will hold firm or in the case of a mont even go up a little,so in mind of the price of a new one it's probably about right, just looks daft at the side of a year old beta 2 stroke.
  3. had three pairs one set went back broke on buckle 1 st ride, but the best boots i've had ,use them for enduro's and trials so i do use them hard.
  4. i just wish it was warmer and nearer ,but it is excellent, theres some big big steps. just don't tell everyone .
  5. 280.one word to say...awesome
  6. two unlucky riders i remember ,vicky ellis got round till saturday when her beta expired on the top of pipeline on the saturday ,i stopped and tryed to help,a long way to go but so near and i can't remember who it was but i can remember some one breaking there leg on tramway on the water fall ,may have being 2001 think it was one of the yorkshire riders.proves you need a bit of luck.i'm just thankful that it doe'snt start at edinbourgh any more.
  7. so we've all being happy enough late in the event when you here those noises you've being dreading all week and your bike grinds to a halt. so who's got the best story's of how they've made a knackered bike get round. who's in the shameful/unlucky position of going out after an hour or two on monday. i've a number of lucky tales, must have had the god's on my side. and what's the best bike you've ever ridden round on? me on my first year on an early mont 315r ,it sounded rather strange ,would not rev and then stopped just past tramway on saturday maybe 15 miles from the finnish, stangely it was out of fuel and this was just past the fuel stop.after a long push i obtained some fuel and it started again sounding very second hand,i rode the next group and on the way to ben it ran out yet again so after getting some fuel at the petrol station i stripped the carb at the side of the road and found a pea size stone in the choke circuit.once removed it was running fine once again rode the last group with out looking at the bike and finnished with 15 minutes of penaltys. best bike i've ridden round would have to be my 4rt ,all i swopped all week was oil filter and a back tyre, barely needed a spanner on it. scariest moment s ridding most of a tuesday with no back brake after smashing it off. funniest ridding round with amos ,braybrook and justin wilson (comedy)and getting dave thorpe to buy me an ice cream. loads of amazing times some you could'nt print. shame i hav'nt got a ride this year.

    Hells Gate

if he was on something a little lighter i'd agree ,think the beta may be a bit big to muscle round .fingers crossed though
  9. glad to hear that handle bar tanks will be allowed from a safety point of veiw ...but why just hebo ,my alloy one is ten times stronger ,proper metal cap was made by someone at a rally car parts makers and fits in the gap between the fork clamps ,it bolts on no poxy cable ties, seen other versions that were very well made as well. if someone has a safe quality tank it should pass . just another point ,the most dangerous thing i've ever had was a fibreglass oversize montesa tank.the less said the better.
  10. but brown the clown loves to follow the lead of our american cousins ,it will be here all to soon. .sad news i thought with a new president common sense may have returned to your shores.

    Multi Bike?

i'm starting to feel that everyone is having a bit of a go,this has being happening for years no one has moaned to officials, every body out there has had a little help off someone during the week,i for one know it's bloody hard being up there on your own so to speak,i'd have being in big trouble on more than one occasion if not for spectators or riders with vans, you'll always need something you can't carry,i fixed a water pump with areldite one year after smashing it on a rock,a little help i can't see as an issue.swopping bikes is wrong but he's definitly not the first and won't be the last,i for one have seen with my own eyes bikes dissapear in to vans to reappear suddenly sounding rattle free.i also think that one or two top riders may be under pressure from sponsors to get a finnish,if i failed to get round it would hardly make the news, not the case with some of the better riders,so it's hardly right to put blame solely on a rider.i also think that a second bike should be allowed to be used in some circumstances on a no award basis,it's a long way to go and be out with engine failure after a day.
  12. i ran a pipe through the frame under the tank, with a fuel tap at the top.i'd sooner have a little weight on the front end than in my bag,it was to heavy with out any fluids
  13. i had an alloy handle bar mounted aux tank with a breather and a seperate pipe running to a t-peice in the fuel line,i put in a seperate fuel tap and so i only used the fuel when i had run out,i personally thought this was the best way of carying extra fuel, sadly the scrutineers in scotland did'nt agree and asked me to remove it,i ended up buying a bigger fibreglass montesa tank which the bottom fell out of after 2 days. i've seen other people fail scrutineering with aux tanks and think the beta's will have big problems this year(i saw 2 run out on sunday at a road trial),i've got a 4rt and if i'm agressive in low gears it uses a lot of fuel ,i ran out on the jack wood ,twice in scotland, and also in the scott.that extra litre makes a big difference.
  14. you should ride this weekends hillsbourgh trial as well ,no stop sections in some of the same areas and you may be able to pick up an entry form for jack wood (same club). just got an entry form this afternoon you going to lincoln on friday night?i can take one there.or check hillsborough club website you may be able to down load one
  15. i had something similar to this all plumbed in on a t peice, the first year at the ssdt i used this on a montesa and after a couple of day i was refused the extra fuel ,the year later i failed scruteenering with the auxillary tank fitted.have the rules changed?
  16. no tombo's not in and me neither ,john hamblin's is'nt through or matt timperly as well. quite a few local failed to get in.billy craig who post's on here is in and matt spink who you'll know is in as well.all the usual suspects are in donna ,emma, thorpey, timperley's,chris pearson is back as well.
  17. i normally observe 0nce or twice a year normally our clubs womens national or if i have an injury. hard job, being known to also change a section slightly as well.
  18. the later bikes don't really need the clutch plates as they have a better one standard, they are a bike where if you like to alter lots of things then the skys the limit, while mines far from standard i really think that unless your a good expert rider the benefits are sometimes small.it is fun to alter things thats my excuse anyway, the best single mod on mine is the plates on the rear linkage to speed up the rebound makes it a lot easier to move the back round. mods done 07 repsol mitani front pipe switchable throttle bodys/ ignition running aggrssive and economy mode jitsie filter 43t rear sprocket hd racing sumpguard v mar link plates ti hangers hebo footrests
  19. just watched us supercross with reed and stewart , amazing racing well worth watching, looks like it could be avery good series this year.theres a link to download it on adrenalintrip.net well worth watching even if it took a while to download.
  20. take off the rear mudguard and pull the tank up you will see an 8mm allen head on the fuel injection blow it out carefully with an air line ,these sometimes get water in them, swap t5he plug and check the tickover on the side of the fuel injector ,this normally cures mine if it's running a little rough.hope this helps.

    Beta Evo 2009

i'm not that keen ,but who knows it may look better in the light of day.i hope the petrol tank is a decent size.beta 's usually look cutting edge when anew model arrives though.zero, techno, rev 3 all took a little getting used to.

    4rt To 2t To 4rt

lots of people do seem to struggle switching and a few riders in my area have seemed to struggle when they have switched to a 4 stroke ,but i seemed to gel very quick with my montesa and i feel my riding improved, its maybe not so good on the trick riding but the stability is excellent and once you are used to the engine charateristics they grip really well, especially in streams and rocks and i think it rides better in a flowing ridding style .i must admit it does seem strange jumping on a gasser after 7 months on an rt,feels like a push bike but i will be staying on a 4 stoke for a while yet. ps my last bikes were a raga 300 and a 250 beta.
  23. my 4rt is doing just the same, plug goes black in about 30 minutes and the bike will sometimes hesitate when going up a step or really steep climb and back fires under high revs, new plug always cures it,i'm wondering about trying a different map as it had always being fine till sandifords changed the map program, maybe it's coincidental.my bike is running an aggesive map. also gauze and standard filter. i'm also oing to look at all the electrical connectors this week.
  24. i'm very sad to hear that karl was killed yesterday in an accident at armthorpe moto park,he had ridden at the scottish many times and many east midland and yorkshire trials and more recently enduro's and super moto.i would also like to send his family my best wishes.

    Not Happy With Beta

firstly i'm nothing to do with beta, but my last 06 has probably being my most reliable bike yet,yes the carb does leak if it's tipped over, but with just a little general maintanence it has being no trouble and i will be very sad to see it go.the only fault is brittle plastics in the cold(front mudguard),i for one if it was'nt for the fact i facy a change i'd have another.what more can you say?
