  1. Sorry to hear about your mates bike, I will keep an eye out for it. Check Hut Hill at the weekends as we still find illegal riders up there, We are about to have a massive crack down on people riding illegally up there. Wish you the best of luck in finding it mate.
  2. I'll second this, adjust the spring as above, If the spring is not adjustable look around the breakers for a similar harder spring that you could fit to the existing shock body. My son has a 03 bike and it will bottom out if i stand on it but with him it's just right as he is only 7. I wouldn't ride his bike exept to maybee check it, even though my limey ass is generally smaller, as it will wreck the clutch very fast with me on it. Good luck with it buddy.
  3. Im with you on this one fella, They were locktited on my gasser. Locktite can cause problems as the old locktite in the threads of the clutch basket can foul the threads when you re assemble and with such small bolts you could easily snap one off in there. I run a tap down all the holes and blew out with an air line. They won't come loose as they are under spring tension as you said.
  4. Mine creeps slightly after changing to atf. I prefer a really aggressive bite and I did't like the feel when running on Putoline but it did not drag. I got used to the slight drag and find it easy to compensate with brakes. If you have just replaced the clutch it could be down to measurements see the videos on gg usa.
  5. Welcome back, I had a few years out too but we just cant keep away! Next Waltham chase is at treefields and we will be setting out some good, safe sections for the yellow and white riders and some challengeing but not dangerous for the red & blue's etc. It's always good to see people coming back to the sport.
  6. It might be someone has used the wrong oil, Drain and refill with atf dextron 3, very cheap.

    Jcm

Just seen this post again while searching as im looking for a jcm again, Sorry to drag up an old post, I rode JCM in expert at club level in southern centre and rode southern centre rounds if my clubs were hosting them. I rode the intre centre for the southern centre in I think 93 up north hosted by Spen Valley Club. In the pic is me (59) and Andy Blackman (61), I Can't remember the others. We must have been riding different trials, Wayne.
  8. Jcm 240 Europa 89 ish, Mid fuel tank well balanced, plenty of power. I keep looking for one myself as I used to ride one years ago, I dont want to pay silly money for a twinshock and air cooled mono is gonna be big soon and prices will go silly like twinshocks! The next best thing is a Fantic 245 or 305(The orange one) with conventional forks. Forget the aprillia climer etc , too heavy.

    Pro 250 Decals

Gas Gas uk, The aftermarket decals like S3 & Jitsie dont come with the bash plate decals.
  10. You can not remove springs on a pro clutch as they don't use them. It might be a improvement to slide the lever towards the centre and adjust it so you are using the end of the lever as this will give more leverage and make it lighter but it will take more travel to disengage so will slow down the action.
  11. Just a quick tip, if you have a tubeless tyre and its leaking from the rim through the spokes, Nip down Halfords and buy a can of tyre weld. Blow your tyre up with it, ride the bike around for 5 mins then let the tyre down to your usual pressure and you should never have a problem with the rim leaking again. I have used this on every bike with a tubeless tyre and every time I change a tyre. This is more effective than stripping you tyre off and silicone sealing the rim band. 1 can of tyre weld will do around 5 tyres and is reuseable (I am still using a can I brought last year) It can be usefull for sealing a puncture too during a trial.
  12. BVM are great for parts, know there stuff and lightspeed delivery, trials and tribulations are equally as good but slightly less range on trick bits.
  13. Octane booster will not give you more power on a stock engine, I wont go into boring detail about octane etc. It is good to use if you have already tuned engine as you can raise compression, advance timing and run slightly leaner to get more revs and the octane booster will reduce ignition knocking and detonation that can lead to meltdown and overheating. So in a way it can give you more power as you can tune an engine higher if you are running on it.
  14. I think as times are getting hard manufacturers are feeling the pinch or marzzochi are in trouble, I think a gas gas with marzocchis is miles better than the sherco with the tech forks but it may be just the bike as the gasser may be just as good with the tech forks Either way Raga will use them and test them out and gas gas will do what ever is best for the production bikes for the following year. The public will be happy as they will be seen as an upgrade from the raga rep rather than gas gas cutting costs. Gas Gas will be gas gas, I have one and love it. If i was worried about quality i would go back to a beta.
  15. If you can afford the raga get one it will make you happy otherwise you would always look at the raga and wish you had brought one. To be honest 90% of riders dont need a raga model but If you are gonna be a bear be a Grizzly!!! If you are an expert you dont need to even ask the question you know what you want anyway. I almost brought a 09 raga, it was 600 more than the 09 pro (that i could have afforded) but I put my sensible head on and brought the pro. Now I have just fitted a high comp head and looking at a kehin carb and short front pipe. My bike has more than enough power with just the head and set up right but I want more. I let my mate have a go,(He rides a 270 rev3), and it scared him. Im not an expert rider anymore , just a hooligan!!!. Looking back It would cost me less if I brought the raga in the 1st place so I can only guess if you brought the racing you will look back and wonder about the raga.
  16. Hi mate, has it just started or has it always been there, the pros always rattle as I found out shortly after buying one and stripping it down thinking it had a problem. The rattle is probably gearbox due to the design wich is different from other trials bikes. There is a video i remember watching by jim snell explaning why they make the noise on you tube. The noise really worried me at 1st as i just brought the bike and the 1st time out it overheated (turned out to be a cracked cylinder) so only rode it for a very short time. It was also smoking badly which I was told when I 1st looked at it that it was burning too much 2 stroke as the fuel had evaporated while it was standing in the showroom, Yeah right crank seals were gone and burning gear oil. Wont mention where i got it from but payed top money for it, had to drive from southampton to stroud to get it and had to fix it myself. The dealer sent the parts free after alot of persuading, a lot of phone calls and 4 weeks later, so it only cost me time but its all good in the end as luckily im good with a spanner. Time will tell how it holds up now. so after fixing the bike I was paranoid about every noise but now have learned to live with it and I dont notice it anymore. Investigate your noise as it could be more than just the usuall noise. Good luck
  17. Stolen from a locked garage during the night I believe.

  19. Ive had a 13 year break from trials and the 125 rule has appeared during that gap so I wasn't up on it at the time. I can recall as a youth I had a ty80 and a whitehawk 175 (wish i had it still ££££), I could only ride the ty 80 in trials untill i was 12. I rode the whitehawk in a display team and when i was old enough i used it for trials. When I was 13 or 14 my dad got me a JCM 240. I must have been getting close to 15 when I was ready to ride experts so the bigger bike was ideal as i wouldn't have been able to do it on the whitehawk due to the lack of power for a start. I think the cc limit should go by class as the current crop of youth A & B riders Can handle almost any bike. I wouldn't like to see a novice youth start riding on a 250, no mater how big they are. Modern 125's are a big leap forward,I have ridden a 07 that my mate brought to do up and sell and was amazed at the performance when revved but they dont have the torque to find traction in the mud. In Spain the 125 would be great for all age groups as its dust and rocks but over here our top youths would benefit with a bigger bike. When my son is big enough I bet he will want to ride my bike all the time in practise instead of a 125. He thinks his gas gas 50 needs more power so heaven knows how frustrated he will be later on.
  20. Do you mean the silencer at the rear or the middle too. If just the rear take the end cap off and replace the packing job done. Don't set fire to the middle section it contains wire wool and you will just burn the guts out of it and as its not openable to repack, you will kill it.
  21. Hi, Have you found the solution yet? After reading the post I'm curious now as everything I would suggest has been covered. My gas gas starts fine from cold or hot but if it has been stopped for 10 mins it takes a few kicks but always starts (different to your problem mine is just gas gas and delorto related). Could it be the plug fouling by too much 2 stroke in the mix? I would guess at (and only a guess) a stator geting tired as it heats up and not generating a good spark at kickover speeds, you said it goes with a bump so the engine is turning over faster so can generate a better spark with a bump? Good luck and hope you get it sorted
  22. Good name for brakes "Hope". Why don't gas gas go for Grimecas like the beta I have had no probs with them when I had a beta. They have trick looking master cylinders (red ones on mime). I dont know about the formula brakes I have a gasser now with ajp (09) and they work fine just like the Grimecas. I would think Gas Gas would use tried and tested brakes rather than using the public as a guinea pig. I know about the ajp issue but surely they would have warning and tested the Formulas with raga before releasing them on the general public.
  23. Good old ebay, either the seller is trying to pull a fast one on some poor sole. Or he has been stitched up with it himself and belives it to be what it is. Or he has just borrowed it from someones shed. Am i being dumb but I don't think they did an alloy frame.
  24. Hi, if your riding a 2 stroke its very likely you will stall it trying to engine break. As the others have said rear brake is important but, depending on conditions, ie how slippy it is, you will notice you use front brake just as much when your brake control gets better. The trick on steep hills is to be able to hold the front brake just before the point of locking and be able to control the front sliding for a split second as the grip alters. So get familliar with what happens when either wheel locks and learn to control it.
  25. Hi, I have had a scorpa and rate it very highly the yam engine is bulletproof, smooth with lots of useable torque. The build quality is awesome. The only downside is the yam engine is a tad heavy so most of the weight of the bike is at the front, this is not a problem for 95% of riders and is a good bike for clubmen as it's great on hills with the front weight and very planted in turns. The techno is not a bad bike but a early rev 3 is a better bet for a little more dough and the build and reliability (apart from stators) is as good as the scorpa. If you are a novice I would reccomend the scorpa very slightly more over the beta, they hold their money well and are a better bike to develop your skills on. The beta is easier to hop around but the scorpa almost rides itself so lets you concentrate more on the section in hand. Hope this helps and good luck finding a bike.
