  1. no that is the ilkley classic trial run in may for the last 6 years or so. the ilkley grand national has run since 1927 on middleton moor to the north of ilkley originally using much of the scott trial route orf the late 20's and thirties. the grand natinal is a time and observation trial exactly like the Scott. it was renowned for its long boggy moorland crossings though today the route is much shorter and less extreme.
  2. pump the bike tyres up so you dont get any punctures when you ratchet the thing down.. learnt the hard way..
  3. whilst i have often lost a tooth or two off the front sproket it certainly doesnt suit all bikes, the beta is fine but do the same to a gasser and it became a wheel lifting thing that kicked me off at will...
  4. i cant see the issue. if the bike stops moving forward its a five the more we accept that stopping for a second or a count of one or alowing a hop to the left or right the more advantage will be taken by riders if every observer applied the same rules rather than making up there own there would be no issues, all the sections could be ridden literally non stop if they had to be by the better riders.
  5. well that looked like a fairly clear five. boh feet on the ground bike stopped and lifting the front end round did it even roll back a smidge?
  6. as a rider and observer i take the chance to read the rules before 'big' no stop trials so that i make informed correct descions ( a bit pedantic i know) tsr22b is clear Failure: A failure is considered to have occurred if:
  7. some where between no chance and fat chance i'd think they'll probably staing you for the full value of the policy if you cancel within 28 days ( my car policy has just tried to do the same
  8. so what were the time cards they handed out for then?
  9. just got the quote for our octavia esatate which is due next week since we bought the car new in 2008 the premium has risen from 196 pa to 404 and all i've done is get 3 yrs older to have the thing third party only NO fire theft or repair risk for the insurer is only TEN QUID cheaper and yes i've done ALL the comparison sites.. insurance companies are ripping good customers off to pay for the liabilities of others..
  10. a british fourstroke 250cc plus would be the tool for the job, if you have 3k get an original bike 2k convert a road bike i wouldnt buy a 'trials' bike but a bike to convert so you have the road speed plus some off roading ability
  11. a steel sproket would be very heavy, for a bespoke sproket http://www.sprocketsunlimited.com/

CHECK THE BETA WEBSITE ALL DETAILS ON THERE
  13. ran today for 3.5 hrs on a 6v 12ah battery.. 20ah on order,,
  14. you do have ldt's near cumbria.. the northern trial and the ilkley trial the pamapera with modifications is an excellent ldt machine and cheap.. if i were to buy another bike specifically for ldt and to be competative i'd pump for a beta 200 fourstroke modern spares available and can easily do the job if not that a pre 65 fourstoke trials bike with raised gearing would equally make short work of an LDT
  15. i have some sticks of 6v 5000mah nimh and am going to do some running tests this weekend granted they are small designed to be drained 100% weigh nowt and can be used in any position but will they give the longevity of a typical 6v 5ah motorcycle battery..might also do 2 x the rc sticks in parralel as a comparison giving theoretically 10ah
  16. i ve aquired a c10 that is running a 6v battery on total loss, it'll do a single venue trial on a charge no problem. i want to do road trials on it this year though, most of the PJ1 series , a couple of Miller rounds and a LDT so.. would i gain anything by changing to 12v and for a bit of longevity for the road trials should i if i opt for more APH and if so how much.. ?
  17. no cylinder replatings about 100 quid plus piston, unless the pistons 250 that is!!
  18. which beggars the question why do they ride enduro bikes in extreme enduro when a trials bike is massively quicker..
  19. a quick check on the fiat website shows a punto as been five foot six wide thats 66 inches plus your 10 each side thats 86 or 7 foot 2 max.... and a typical trials bike is circa 76 inches max length /// so in thoery you could carry a harley 850 sportster on a rack width wise... the six bolts supporting the bar on the punto can pull a 1000kg trailer and if you allowed for 75% of the trailers weight to be carried on the wheels of the trailer that puts 250kg on the tow ball which is exactly the weight of a harley 1200 custom!! the rack would also have to endure much greater forces on the tow ball when towing a 100kg not just when pulling but also under braking and the twisting whilst cornering especially with modern ball locking devices to ensure 'snake' free driving a legitimate question would be. is a rack a legal entity .. has anyone been prosectuted for using a properly fitted rack with bike properly secured and properly light..
  20. the post re having a fat lad in the back seat is probaly about right.. can your car lug a bike round on the back sure..can the car cope physically well my polo and punti both did for a couple of years a piece with a royal enfield or a trail bike on.. does it over hang front and back sure... but so do caravans... does it pass muster with the manufacturer never.. do you think they would sign off on... hanging a 110kg off the bumper and boot floor?.. practically make it look neat tell the guy fitting the bar what your doing with it use a pukka lightboard and bingo..
  21. great reply Mairi, nice clear open and honest. To kill the issues though why not make the draw an event in itself? if it was done with numbered ball ala the fa cup it wouldnt mean so many bits of paper etc and then the conspiracy theorists would have to go back to Roswell and Dianagate.
  22. if you can explain the meaning of life why toast always lands jam side down on the kitchen floor why sid always gets the good looking girl the you would nt be even half way to understanding how the ballot works.. although to be fair although still very grey the club have made movements in the right direction but its there trial they can run it how they see fit for who they want and choose who else gets to ride.
  23. central wheels are spot on send them an original spoke and they do the rest the website explains it all.
  24. be another six months or so before entries are available checkout richmonds website all the info will be on there.. start getting fit NOW though..
