  1. I think we need to consider what commentary would sound like if you had someone telling you what the rider was doing ? "ok he is going to rev the bike very hard, compress the suspension and let out the clutch" ditto rider 2, 3, 4, 5 that would get very dull very fast....... Jack is providing more general commentary as a lot of the time theres not a lot really happening. imagine trying to make those races sound exciting ! Bou spoils it really as there is no tension, everyone knows who is going to win.
  2. PAPA Baldilocks found some foreign types up there one year who shouldn't have been there as they were not riding in the event. the group were one bike short and in a struggling kind of english the rider explained "bike gone in sea" dont know if this tale is a product of the wee dram syndrome but it makes me laugh most of the year and makes me twitch when i'm riding up it !
  3. Yes I have heard of this before on a Gas Gas a few years ago. One side of the rim was smaller than the other, only by a couple of mm I think (wasnt my bike) but it was enough to cause the problem. suggest you get hold of a wheel off somebody and measure them both.
  4. Rosey often talks sense well for a lion tamer anyway.......
  5. I was about to ask Perce for that photo and send it to Jeroni, theres plenty scope for sponsor logos on that suit........ ugly bloke mind .......
  6. Still no rider signed, game over ?
  7. Double A is albert returning this year ? I read in TMX a while ago that Colley was going to ride as its the centenary. Short odds on a Gas Gas Pro winning with Doug and Michael Brown on one and Dibs having to carry a multimeter this year
  8. Anyone had a Citroen Relay / Peugeot Boxer or Fiat Ducato see them coming up at reasonable money but dont know if they are any good ?

The new style rims dont have a band but in time I think the spokes will cause greater problems, on my montesas I was forever changing the small spokes, just couldnt stop them snapping. A further problem is the tyre comes off a DiD rim easier for some reason, dont know if this applies to the new Morad rim. My last three bikes have come with the rim band Copey describes and I havent touched any of them and they have been fine. The bikes were an 07 Sherco an 09 Gas Gas and an 2010 Gas Gas, the first two bikes did the SSDT 3 times between them without a problem. The design works if the band is fitted properly in the first place.

try swapping the spacers over. may be just that the 2011 GG has the new style wheel and it doesnt fit any longer.
  11. Vivaro, 3 friends have had these or the Renault version. 2 had gearbox failure below 100k the other blew the deisel pump which with its last breath blew ally filings through the injectors and wrecked the lot. None of these problems were cheap to fix. Vito is nearest to a car to drive but agree on the rust front very poor. I'd go for the Peugeot / Citroen. We have a picasso 2.0 HDI, probably same engine, with 105k and its still ok, fingers crossed on wooden desk ! Plenty of people speak highly of the expert / dispatch but get the HDI version. Or I have a 1998 renault master, 138k motor still good but rust is slowly taking over. Why not get a swb master / movano ? similar size to transit.
  12. If you take the carb apart on cold day when its not picking up and wont tickover the galleries in the rear of the carb, which feed the pilot jet circuit are dripping with emulsified (spelling) oil. It looks like white sludge. We call this carb icing but perhaps its not the right term ?
  13. no reason why they cant, they just ride different variations of the same sections anyway.
  14. baldilocks replied to cabby's topic in Sherco
2010 sherco is a good bike, more capable than a 2009. yes the 2009 is cheaper but it will be cheaper when you come to sell it as well.

I doubt very much he went through a fuel tank a day, thats rubbish Ben. AG Brown and John Battensby did the week on the tanks they started with, without any disrespect if they arent breaking them then I doubt Cabestany was. Cabs started about 5 mins before me and I never passed him all week, why wasnt he running out of fuel every day ??
  16. We dont ever have dry air in the North East of England Dan we have very cold very damp air.
  17. if it is carb icing get hold of some silkolene pro FST. Its a fuel additive that stops the carb icing up. My Gas Gas was bad for icing the carb probably due to very cold water splashing into the air filter box through the drain hole. The pro FST cured it. Sherco may be more prone as the fuel line is just above the swinging arm
  18. We Brits have a day for stories which are entirely made up just to catch people out and make them look foolish. We call this day April fools day. the spanish equivalent I think is between Christmas and New Year. dont think they fooled Ham 2 as he appears suspicious and as a fellow Geordie i'll give him the benefit but Jools....... a 4rt that looks nice ? Really......
  19. some of it is probably image and maybe not true but how about the first World Champ ? Martin Lampkin, drank beer, rode a bulto, won everything in his day. No Bull !
  20. I'm 13 st and never had a problem with the standard spring, I used to have the pre load as soft as it would go. before you do anything else fit a zip tie round the fork, not to tight just enough so that it will still slide when the fork seal cap comes into contact with it. Then go and ride some sections and see how much travel you actually using. Unless the forks are using full travel on a regular basis then the spring is prob ok.
  21. Whilst this thread is making very dull reading, as most of it has been said before in many different forums and media could I politely ask that people check the title of the thread. White Brothers I understand are closing on the 23rd which is bad news for us and for the staff. Its a bad thing to happen but especially the week before Christmas. Hope the staff and owners get sorted out in the new year with employment somewhere.
  22. A guy with a 2011 told me his bike came with bushes in the linkage not bearings so may be less of a problem going forward.
  23. no Mr Efficiency will be posing round the metro centre with his snow shovel looking for chicks to dig out in his goretex coat Merry Christmas boys lets get off the mudslinging or i'm posting a link to Paul McCartney and his pipes of piece !
  24. I dont think manufacturers can carry on increasing retail price. there a simple rules in economics and business. a product is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, its not necessarily worth what it costs to manufacture or what the manufacturer thinks it is worth. If a manufacturer cant sell a product at a profit there is no point making it, thats called going into liquidation in the long term. So Yamaha can increase a road bike by 10% next year if they wish, if no one is buying now then who cares apart from Yamaha ? Montesa can do the same with the 4rt,
  25. did you change bearings as they run in the gearbox oil so if the inner seals gone on the bearing oil will get through. did you replace centre gasket ?
