I've no reason to snipe and certainly no reason to point score. I own the site - what could I possibly have to gain? My concerns arise from you stating you got bad or incorrect advice on this website. "I was completely new to trials before i bought a Montesa 4RT on the recommendations of owner and people on this site about a year ago." I cannot find any topic or post where you sought the advice of Trials Central users regarding your choice of bike. You joined these forums on January 22nd 2007 and made your first post on January 23rd 2007 stating "Just bought a new (well new to me) 4RT." The advice given on this site is, in my extensive experience, pretty damned good and is given freely by a friendly and knowledegable community - particularly when it comes to newcomers to the sport as everyone wants to encourage newcomers. By saying you got bad or incorrect advice on Trials Central when it appears you never even asked, understandably, annoys me.

Having run this site for 4 years now, every time I have seen anyone ask for guidance as to which bike, the advice has been to try as many as possible and see what suits the individual. I'm afraid you've nobody to blame, but yourself for not doing so.

I've not heard anything and have no insider info to offer, but Dougie + Beta 2-stroke = tried and tested winning forumula. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just my opinion.

But not till you've sorted the ads on the TC Forums A CMS can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. When I first built TC I wanted one that was as simple and basic as possible for Clubs to be able to post their own news. That was fine back then and it's done a perfect job, but things have changed a lot since those days and I'm now actively looking at alternatives. I expect to start a beta testing programme for selected news contributors in the New Year with a total revamp of the front page/news element of the site. TC at present (as well as Richmond Motor Club and Yeadon & Guiseley) are based on a CMS called Absolut Engine, though the TC one has been hacked to pieces by me. It is very basic (or was, I've not looked at how it's developed for ages), but is very easy to customise and re-skin to suit your site. I use Joomla for the Impreza Drivers Club website and it's pretty much all singing, all dancing with a massive user base. It's probably overkill for a Club site TBH. The one Ian mentions, I have used a previous incarnation of it. He swears by it, but I didn't find it overly friendly to get to grips with.

Watch yourself with warranties on European imports. It's not so much an issue as a hassle getting hold of warranty book. I can name countless Scooby drivers (myself included) who have bought European imports from the likes of Motorpoint then had no end of hassle getting hold of the service/warranty book and have manually had to register the car with Subaru UK to ensure warranties are honoured. I can't speak for other brands, but I also found out that my last Impreza, coming from Malta had one less coat of underseal on it. It's not deemed necessary over there because they don't have to salt the roads. It also came with no alarm and no locking wheelnuts. I had to get them sorted seperately. Check that you are getting a car that is complete because the savings might not be quite what they first seem.

We have our own Scottish office Christmas do. We don't go to the corporate one. Last year I drove there and drove home as it's in Edinburgh and I...well don't live in Edinburgh. I do remember going to the toilet a lot, but it was purely down to the amount of mineral water consumed.

We've recently been through a round of redundancies, but then we have FAR too many tiers of middle management who add absolutely zero value. We've also been through a fair bit of turmoil internally with processes and procedures, change etc. That has resulted in the head-hunters targeting us and a not-insignificant number of people leaving. I've had the calls from the head-hunters, but I'm perfectly happy where I am and have no intention of moving. I'm pretty much my own boss and remote from HQ so away from all the corporate bollocks and bitching. Today was my birthday. I neither wanted or expected any mention of it at work, but got an email this morning from my bosses boss wishing me a happy birthday then later my bosses, bosses boss phoned me - three tiers of management up from lowly me (I thought I was in trouble when he said who it was!) purely to wish me a happy birthday. I asked if management were notified of staff birthdays and he said no. He made it his business to find out and phone people. It was a simple gesture, but one I was genuinelly impressed with, bearing in mind this guy has responsibility for the whole of Northern Europe.

Untrue, unless Wales is totally different to the rest of the UK. Tipping is generally given for good service. And as for the second statement, perhaps things have changed, but my first job after leaving school was in a hotel. I was taxed based on the assumption that I would make so much in tips.

It's a bug that is corrected in the patest patch. I'll get round to applying it at some point.
