Good to know guys, thanks!
-
I use second or third plenty in sections on my 4RT, not sure where people get the idea you wouldn't use the others...
-
In my experience a bigger radiator isn't necessary unless you have modified the bike or there is something out of sorts. I can see where if your riding in extreme heat I could be mistaken, but top notch fluid and bike care and it shouldn't be a problem. (That and I have been in some really hot riding conditions and never needed one)
Almost all of the people I have seen who want one are on modified bikes.
-
I would guess that both are custom on the factory bikes, but the big changes are likely in the valve timing, fuel maps, clutch, and gears, not so much on size.
Valve timing and fuel mapping are a much bigger factor in performance over size on most engines...
-
It's a strange one isn't it... But I love the stuff, seems to be just what my 07 4RT want/needs.
-
My friend has an 05 and runs the Dexron VI as well, it works great for him too. Was thinking if you were running something thicker it might account for the issue...
Glad you were able to get that resolved without major work.

I don't have a measurement but am curious what oil your using?
-
Interesting how the inertia of the moving parts can make it all feel so much different isn't it. My first experience with it was when I rode a 280 Gas Gas after having been on my wife's 125 Gas Gas, it was quite noticeable even with the bikes being close in year and only a small kg difference.
-
My wife has an 08 Gas Gas TXT Pro 125 and I have an 07 Montesa 4RT and where I can feel the difference after an updates to the suspension by changing to a liter fork oil and after words the difference felt much less as the bike has a bit more spring in it now.
FYI: I ride intermediate and the difference hasn't held me back at this point and I suspect it won't any time soon.
hope this helps.

Me too!
In fact I am considering selling my 650 and getting one to replace it... Almost never ride the 650 in a way that the 4 Ride would be better at any more.
-
Put it up on youtube or Vimeo and link it into the forum.
Example:
-
I am hearing rumblings that the 2017 4 Ride might be in the US soon?
-
I think if it was me I would order up new one. I would go with a manual one but even a stock would make me feel better after knowing it wasn't working as expected.
I have an 07 and though I wouldn't feel bad about riding it like that with the parts on order I would want to be sure I trusted it long term for events etc. Would rather be safe than sorry.
My 2 cents for what its worth.

Your not kidding, how dose Tech T relate to Trials othe than the letter T...
Way cool looking though!

My turn to derail a little...
I already know this, but thank you. I got 4 large bottles of ELF from the first owner when I got my 4RT and with how long the stuff lasts I have only used up 1 of them so far so I have a long way to go before I need to try anything else. I was considering the GRO for when I ran out but I can't seem to find a distributor in the US and now that I can get ELF in the US again I might just stick with that seeing that it is working so well for me.
Back to the topic.
-
It's not ATF but silkolene light gear oil gets both great reviews and works great in my friends Gas Gas. Planning to give it a go in my wife's Gas Gas and daughters Beta in there next oil changes. I use ELF in my 4RT...
-
I am so with you schmorgas.
After all of the cars I have had, from a 74 Supper Beetle, 69 Pontiac Lemans, deisel VW etc. to all of my bikes from my first Yamaha MX80, IT 250, to my current 4RT 250, I am so connected to the sound and feel of the 4RT I can't think of any vehicle I like more than the sound and feel of that bike!
-
I wonder how many of the updates one could get for there current Vertigo... Depending on how they ride some of them might be worth doing...
-
I think you have the word on it, go big or go home!
Always a little ninja in us who really love trials so push yourself, you will find that rush I am sure of it!
-
Love the post, thanks!
For what its worth, in the end I went with a learn and work with the clutch approach. Worked great for me, but did take some time to learn it.
Good luck!

Thanks for the information on the visor.
-
I was trying to get a line on the head shape for the same two helmets but don't seem to be able to get much information on the Hebo Zone 4. I have desided to get the Zone 4 and am hoping that it will be a good choice for my head. I have an oval shaped head...
I will update the thread with what its like once I get it, it will be a few more weeks though (1 more payday).
-
Just crazy... what a really sucky way to get a 5...
-
I am with cleanorbust pressure and technique to me are the largest factor in getting grip, however I would also agree with pschrauber that if its getting to old and stiff even good technique and proper pressure will not get you all the way there.
