  1. Mine hardly ever gets checked after a new tyre gets bedded in. Start with about 3.5 to4 ish and add a little when it starts to roll around too much on the sidewalls. You'll soon get the feel of what its doing and what it should be doing. Experiment with between 3 and 6psi and find your happy medium as different pressures suit different riding styles.

    I know Phil very well, and his bike is very nice indeed. If I and many of us on here were in the same position we'd have that bike too. But with no disrespect to Phil as we have some good battles together in trials, he rode the beta as good as the mont.I'm saying that if anyone can get the most out of a standard bike then you should be thinking of making a living from trials. The bike is pretty much always going to be more capeable than almost every rider, with a few exceptions. I have practised the same sections for the last 15 years, and they are on the limit of my skill level, not the bikes level, whether it was a 2001 scorpa, 2003 rev3, 04 315r or my 4rt's none of them made me ride much better and neither would a 300 RR. I don't condone anyone's choice of bike, as like me and you, its your pride and joy which you've worked very hard for, I was merely stating that it probably wouldn't make us ride much better.

    If your at a level where you can get the most out of a standard bike then you should be riding the wtc circus. You could give us bou's bike and it wouldn't make us ride much better. Bou could jump on a std bike and make the rest of us look like beginners. Yes the RR looks good, and its always nice to have the latest model, but its not massively different from the first 4rt 10 years ago.

  5. Used Dunlops for last 11 years. They are probably the best tyre for NOT coming off the rim. The new 803gp is a big improvement on the std 803 and they're not much more expensive. Can't comment on IRC. I found michelins punctured too easily and then fell off the rim straight away, but I'd put that down to not suiting my riding style. You probably cant go wrong with either. The tyre is far more capeable than most riders
  6. It does ride very well traditionally, 1st gear covers just about everything, whether its pulling slowly off the bottom end or holding it flat until the valves bounce and launching it into obit. I have 1 particular section which was a 3rd gear jump on the 2 stroke, the 4rt manages it in 1st

  9. Dont be fooled into thinking Narita's baby SYF was a standard prooduction model. That will be rather expensive and tricked up. Yamaha equipped Crosser with one to good effect a few years ago. Looked production but certainly wasn't a production model inside. PR stunt.
  10. If it gets worse when its warm it's likely to be valves, worth checking them anyway.

  12. I have a Showa rear shock spare which came off a 2007 bike. I will fit new OEM spherical bearings, bushes and seals. Anyone who fancys upgrading a 2014 or 2015 to a Showa please pm me and make me an offer. Thanks
  13. I think its a safe bet the most significant change will be the stickers. Personally I'd like to see a return to the programmable throttle bodies on all both models.
  14. Interesting read, so are we comparing trials bikes to works rally cars in the ssdt chat? Well if so, my mont is the escort, bou's bike loosley based on a production model. The vertigo would be the lancia. Build the competition version then homologate it. I'd have the lancia any day of the week....?
  15. They all have route cards with mileage and groups on so they know how long they've got. Just need to ride faster.... Dibs is probably the fastest rider there across ground, for whatever reason he was delayed without getting delay on his card, if he'd pulled the pin he could have made 30mins up

    4Rt Oil Leak

    Yeah that is normal when the bike has been upside down, looks far worse than it is. When the bike was new, the breather extends back into the airbox, but most people would bin that system and leave it tucked away behind the radiator
  18. Get back on the tabs, it'll save you a fortune with the amount your spending on brake pedals and gear levers!!
  19. Yeah bilks is right, there's are couple of versions of the dpbmc. Your local yamaha road bike shop can supply little pots of touch up. They were the same colour as some of the early R1 and R6 models

    Its not quite an exact copy..... I'm sure me and my brother made something like that out of an old yammy fs1e when we were about 10.

    New 4Rt Mods

    Make sure everything is well greased and copper slipped up, just like any bike really. As others have said, the Standard sump guard doesn't last too well so have a look on h&d website. If you've got a spare 2k, then perhaps a full titanium bolt kit too!

  23. I'd recommend the H&D Racing sump guard, very strong, look great, various colours and competitively priced.

    Car type fits, get plenty of your favourite lube on and give it a good tug....
  25. it doesn't grip like the 2t when you burn it, but it will stand you on the back wheel when you shut it off!!
