    Peg Hanger Break

Usually down to fitting aftermarket alloy or titanium hangers. There's just no give in them and the frame ends up breaking first. I had one break in the ssdt, not a nice way to spend the rest of the trial! Get the bike stripped down and take the frame to an engineering firm. It can be fixed, you've just got to find the right people who understand the stresses of trials. Where are you located?
  2. The carbon bits are good, keeps everything looking new underneath. Before fitting them, cover the area in tape to stop the carbon vibrating and rubbing. The H&D sump guard is top notch, really takes a beating as well as looks good.
  3. I've damaged the generator cover before by landing hard on the sump guard, the guard then bends and puts pressure on the rubber between the guard and the gen cover, bending some of the lower cover bolts and the cover itself. New gasket, bolts and a sledge hammer on the sump guard fixed it.
  4. which seal are you meaning? The bike can throw oil out of the breather if its been upside down. Never heard of it ending up in the gear box. Any signs of oil on the sump guard? Maybe top up a little and keep an eye on it.
  5. Yes its probably worth upgrading, but do you need to upgrade?
  6. I believe Dunlop won the Scott this year, also taking the team award for beta. They don't leak on the mont DID rims and stay on the rim reasonably well when flat. I ran mine for a mile or so whilst trying to get to the last fuel stop. Good tires, probably not as much grip as an x lite, but more durable.
  7. If you test ride one, you'll love it, then for the first 6 weeks or so you'll wish you had never seen it. Once you get the hang of it you'll wonder why you hadn't bought one years ago. And the thing that sits in the corner of your garage with all the shiny stuff in it, won't get opened very much.
  8. They all have good bits and all have bad bits. If you aren't loyal to a particular brand then try something new, i.e TRS or Vertigo
  9. Why not choose your favourite colour and go from there. They all do the same thing and they are all better than we (the rider) will be. By the way, the montesa is the best....
  10. The thread is on page 9. Link out bank sensor. If someone could put a link up that would be good.
  11. The angle sensor or tilt switch. Unclip from the harness and join outside wires together just by inserting another piece of wire into the connector to form the loop. See if bike starts better. Its quick to check so worth a try. I'm sure there is already a thread on this with pictures.d
  12. bank angle sensor. Remove it and file in the bin.
  13. like jimmyl says, with plenty of slack in the cable set the idle correctly using the screw on the left side of the throttle body, then adjust the throttle cable slack.
  14. Good point Jimmyl, its not been done for 3 years. I'll get it done this weekend (as well as fixing the front tube) and see what I find inside.
  15. I'd consider it more if I had the 280 kit. For next year I'll be putting some fine mesh over the rad cover to stop the crud getting to the rad. Cheaper option!!! The fan runs pretty much constantly so the large radiator must help. Does the 300rr or the 260's have a larger radiator?
  16. In this years Scott I think mine was starting to run too, Every now and then it would fail to pick up off the bottom end when opening the throttle hard, similar to having crap in the carb. It was getting slightly more frequent until I punctured, stopping to fix the rear allowed it too cool down enough. The radiatior was very clogged with Yorkshire which must have been the cause. Has anyone else experianced overheating? It never threw any water out or didn't seem to run lean, it just stuttered. Got me thinking about an oversize radiator.
  17. The Mont will do 25 miles of roadwork on 2.1l of fuel being ridden flat out on std gearing . Std gearing will push 70mph on soft tyres. With the correct gearing, maybe 34 or36 on the rear and a set of trail tyres it would be an absolute blast!
  18. When I caught billy he seemed to be having bike issues, possibly boiling. He was pushing very very hard. If he slows down he will be very fast and certainly one to watch for standard time in the future
  19. cheers andy, felt good, bike was good but 2 flat tires slowed me down too much, but thats the scott. As a rider you dont really notice whats going on, but I did notice the amount of spectators around, seemed more than usual
  20. Big congratulations to Ian, after being so close, for so long, the win was well deserved. well done to Jonny Richardson for standard time again, I'll be fighting you for it again next year! Also a big well done to everyone who got finished. Brilliant event and as always throws up a few surprises.
  21. The cable discs on the oset are pretty weak, kids would use hydraulics better because of a shorter, easier lever pull.
  22. Isolated transformer? Single crack? Is that something to do with the oil filter!!!! Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not up to speed on these new fangled digital bikes. Can you please enlighten me?
