I'm sure that more than a few on these forums will agree with the sentiments expressed in this article: Goodbye to glib gurus and their gobbledegook
Oh the cases I could mention, like the engineer with a PhD and 20 yrs experience reporting to a 25 yo BA MBA grad for starters.

Ah well it was worth a shot.
Andy, I'll take it that speculation is OK as long it doesn't involve gassers/shercos/scorpas/etc financial viability?
-
Lessee, a few weeks ago, all out of the blue Andy asks: "what are all the trials bikes ever manufactured?". Next a button turns up (on a screen near you) labelled "Wiki".
You do the sums Einstein
-
Yeah but there must be other places to put it where it's easier to get to. Maybe on the fork stanchion, between the upper & lower triple clamps?
-
I think I've figured what Andy's up to.
-
Odd place to put the kill-button.
-
Correct, they are floating disks. You may have either a floating disk or floating caliper on off-road bikes. Reason is: if the disk get belted and buckled the wheel will still turn.

Sorry it's not BillyT it's Billy Craig.

Ah well it's practical and not permanent.
Looks like a tidy SWM though.

Sitting together on a train travelling through the Swiss Alps, were a Kiwi guy, an Australian bloke, a little old Greek lady, and a young blonde Swiss girl with large breasts.
The train goes into a dark tunnel and a few seconds later there is the sound of a loud slap.
When the train emerges from the tunnel, the Kiwi has a bright red hand print on his cheek.
No one speaks.
The old lady thinks:
The Kiwi guy must have groped the blonde in the dark, and she slapped his cheek.
The blonde Swiss girl thinks:
That Kiwi guy must have tried to grope me in the dark, but missed and fondled the old lady and she slapped his cheek...
The Kiwi thinks:
The Australian bloke must have groped the blonde in the dark. She tried to slap him but missed and got me instead!
The Australian thinks: I can't wait for another tunnel, just so I can smack the Kiwi again.

The mod could have done in the early '80's when bults were plentiful. Pundit picks up a shagged 198 and slips an 'umph motor into it to have a blast at more traditional trials.
It sounds odd now but at the time it just seemed like a good idea. How many chopped Brough superiors are there out there?

Dom doesn't know he's never seen any

There's a bunch of guys on here who are ex MTB trials guys an one who's an ex-world champ competitor. I've heard these guys say that motor bike trials are harder than MTB trials (probably the additional weight). I wouldn't know. But drop BillyT a line and I'm sure he'll give you some tips cutting from one to the other.
-
Yes but it needs to be a fairly technical event if you're going to shape well. The easier events will favour faster (e.g. proper enduro bikes). No reason why a trials bike can't do an enduro though. It certainly won't do it any damage.

Two Gay Guys are walking through a zoo... They come across the gorillas and notice that the male gorilla has a massive erection. The gay men are fascinated by this.
One of the men just can't bear it any longer, and he reaches into the cage to touch it. The gorilla grabs him, drags him into the cage and mates with him for six hours, non-stop, while the zoo attendants helplessly stand by....
When he's done, the gorilla throws the man out of the cage. An ambulance is called and the man is taken away to the hospital. A few days later, his friend visits him in the hospital and asks, 'Are you hurt?'
'AM I HURT?' he shouts, 'Wouldn't you be? He hasn't called....he hasn't Sms'd... nothing ....!!!!!!

Yeah, my first 349 didn't have the tensioner. My second did.
-
Sorry VC, all 349s had the chain tubes.
-
Always a question that causes me to wonder. How good would Jeff Smith be today?
I reckon that if Bernie was the best of his time and Toni the best today, unless somebody was truly exceptional the the law of averages would balance it out. Thus Bernie would be the best, if not nearly the best if he were 20 yo today.

In parts. Use your loaf to find the rest:

The 242 was a much better bike than the 349 (Sandifords supported riders chose the 242 over the 349). I wish I'd had the common sense to buy a 242 instead of my second 349. The 242 was built along the lines of the Fantics, which were dominating at the time. The 349 was built along the lines of Allen Jefferies Triumph.
