  1. Not really trials anymore but I'm sure many of us are following Taddys new career with interest: Taddy injured
  2. Nah, but we've got a few Pondersians, a herd of high-chapparellians and whole bunch of right pratts.
  3. Very nice. Congrats. May you have many happy hours together.
  4. You're in Sydney and ask about riding in the heat? Surely you jest? Auckland isn't as bad as Cape Town (previous abode) where we could ride in 40 deg heat but as MV says start early finish early, drink lots. Wear a tee shirt. Carry a towel to wipe your sweaty bits. That's about it.
  5. A vampire bat came flapping in from the night, face all covered in fresh blood and parked himself on the roof of the cave to get some sleep. Pretty soon all the other bats smelt the blood and began hassling him about where he got it. He told them to p*** off and let him get some sleep, but they persisted until he finally gave in. "Okay, follow me", he said and flew out of the cave with hundred's of excited bats behind him. Down through a valley they went, across a river and into a huge forest. Finally he slowed down, and all the other bats excitedly milled around him, tongues hanging out for blood. "Do you see that large oak tree over there?" he asked. YES, YES, YES!!!" the bats all screamed in a frenzy. "Good for you!" said the first bat, "Because I f#cking didn't!"
  6. It's even more fun if you kick it into gear when they're cleaning out the motor.
  7. Threatened by the imminent onslaught posed by Arnold, Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac threw in the towel.

    Sat Nav

    Bit like a wife then?
  9. I was about to say that IMO the airbox/seat combination on the pro is the best thing since sliced bread (excluding the fact that it leaks!). Two minutes off and two minutes on. But I've got a Raga with the Keihin and no rubber sleeve. I suppose you could try spraying the inside of the airbox sleeve with silicon spray before re-installing.
  10. Damn, that's a shame. Get well soon Pat and Craig, don't drown your sorrows too deeply.
  11. Piston Code? Is that Dan Browns latest book?
  12. I used the SSDT (actually if you read the link it was initially a 5 day) as the first organised, endorsed event. Funnily I thought it was the Scott (1914). Donald, you steaming wally. That's why I put it in quotes. The Henri Grouters (sp) trophy preceded the Euro championship, which in turn preceded the world championship. So Gustav Franke was the first holder of that trophy (Does anybody know whether the same trophy is handed to the world champ?). The point being that in the early sixties trials was already an international or, more accurately, a european affair. Question is, who was Henri Grouters? Find out and you'll find that trials migrated to the continent long before the sixties.
  13. 1) 1909. The Scottish was the first trial. See: SSDT History 2) No. Original scoring was (I think) Clean 0, paddle 3 marks, failure 5 marks. 3) Haven't a clue. However first "World Champ" was a German, Gustav Franke.
  14. Army Mans avatar alone is enough to put the fear of God into me..
  15. Is it me or is that pic slightly distorted? The front tyre looks to fat and the bike looks heavy.
  16. Excellent work there BF. You must have tons of spare time
  17. Congrats Greeves, seem you've set a high standard for Big John to aim for. It certainly a trial that I would consider coming across for considering it's so soon after the Scottish. Now videos. I NEED videos...
  18. That wasn't Perces question. Now go back to harrassing the Koreans . Which do I prefer? Stop. Which is more challenging? Depends on the section. In an ideal world sections would be laid out so that they would be a challange to both types of riding. Giving the modern rider to option to "square off" a corner and "zap" the next obstacle or a traditional rider the option of a more flowing line. The real world says the organiser is wet and has to home for tea. Can it be done? Yes, but it depends on the terrain. I think the difficult bit comes when the section dictates that the only way round a corner is by hopping. That is the lazy way for the organiser. But as I mentioned organisers are human too and we all wish we could spend 4 hours laying out one section. IMO, hopping mostly gives a rider a clearer or more ideal line for the next obstacle and the traditional rider needs to continually compensate because he's always riding a compromise line. BUT hopping is a skill in itself so on balance(!) the two styles probably even out.
  19. Stop: Once, debatably twice (couldn't see whether Grimbo stopped at the top of the hill) No-Stop: too many times to mention. I would be far more lenient on a clubbie than a pro (who should know better) Perce, I wouldn't hesitate to five ANYONE!
  20. I was looking at the pic of Bernie in a section over on Todotrial and his style is sooo distinctive.
  21. You should audition for Topgear Andy. Your exquisite design matches their offerings.
