Good luck sorting that out Spud, did you get water in the bike or something?
-
Boofont, dont bend the tangs, bend the small centre tab only, make sure you get it bent nice and straight.
I had Steve Saunders do the drilling mod as well, bike is cured now, also tapped the atmosphere pipe towards the barrel a little so the pipe does nt get bent and closed when its near the exhaust. The extra float bowl mod is also usefull, should stop pinking up the hills

Just bought one of these off Ebay, saves no end of time and grunting getting tyres off and back on again.
Breaks the bead in seconds with virtually no effort and can also push the last 6-8 inches of tyre back on the rim.
Great product,about

Great info for the SSDT, particularly liked this little gem
The Mikuni carb is designed to let out the excess petrol
Looks like someone has actually spent time in making sure it does leak properly, did a ******* good job, well done no carb issues there then

Had quite a few rev 3's now and most of mates have them as well. Only one bike has had a stator change out of about 12 or so from our lads bikes, tend to only here about the dodgy ones not the many good ones. If your buying a 04 onwards the carb mod will have been done (Ask the seller) and the float extension is worth getting (

Not sure why they do it, but could be getting in the cases. If I'm waiting in a section line up downhill I always keep the bike ticking over, walking a section always leave it uphill and if it has to lie down knock the fuel off. Pain I know but thats how it is, always will be, great bikes though

Here you are Jack, fill it in, send a mug shot with it and get your club to sign the form, takes about 10 days to get it back

Is that an Oset your charging The Geographically Challenged One?
Andy is a one aint he, just realised what happened there

Have to agree with BK and Neon, I would love a 200 for events especially the types of comps we do, but there is nothing like a 270 for fun factor and play time. A great deal of our sections are the biggest hill climbs we can find and the 270 eats stuff like that for breakfast

Stuck the carb on last night..............................eventually...................................
... fired the bike up this afternoon and it instantly sounded better and much crisper. No time to give it a run today but will be out with dad for 6 hours tomorrow testing it.
I am not going to clean the jets/carb out at all unless it fails, due to some of the posts it can be prone to clogging idle jet/system, Ralph and myself need to know how much it will take before it clogs.
The easiest way I found to stick the carb onto the bike was to put the hose on the carb first whilst it was out, insert the carb into the reed block and then push the air box hose end onto the air box. This makes life alot easier but does require the header, mid box off to do so quickly.
I will look over xmas for a better fitting hose as I don

New Trials Game
Found this nugget tonight, give it a go if you have a spare 3 hours
Game is called VHST v Rev3 Air box
Object of the game is to fit the standard Beta air box hose onto the VHST and then fit into the reed block and connect up to the air box as quick as possible.
You start with 200,000 points and loose points for the following, beware though 200,000 points seems a lot but you can rack up loads in a very short period of time.
Swearing (not too badly) 1 point
Swearing (Really badly) 2 points
Shouting loudly 3 points
Shouting really loudly and swearing badly 5 points
Going and making a coffee 7 points
Cigarette smoking 10 points
Hand abrasions (light/scratch) 10 points
Hand abrasions/fingers/drawing blood 15 points
Getting a plaster for hand injury 20 points
Getting a bandage for hand injury 50 points
Throwing tools 75 points
Stitches 150 points
Feelings of hopelessness 250 points
Loosing momentary belief in life 500 points
Calling the Samaritans 1000 points
Along the journey there will many distractions to put you off the task in hand, these can be
Wife poking head round shed door and saying you

Betamike, one of the jobs for me next week is to find a larger hose for the carb as ralph said it is a pain getting it on. I will pm you if I have any luck
What I might try though is stick the hose on the carb end whilst its out with the mid box out as well and just push the air box end on, may work , worth a try
-
Ralph has kindly leant me the Dellorto for the next 3 weeks whilst he goes and annoys some Americans over xmas. I will stick it on tonight and give it good run on Thursday, I should be out lots over xmas and will only clean the air box and filter and see if any clogging problems turn up.
-
If you know anyone local with a 270 use their front and mid box for a run, could just be its caked up from poor running gradually from new. If it sorts it, clean yours out and lean the jets, pilot first then main if its still running rich on over half throttle.
Good luck
-
Standard jets are 30 and 150, needle setting is middle, most of us lean the needle one notch from new. I have 27.5 pilot and 145 main as mine was bogging and running too rich from new, it has cured the running but be carefull as it may make other bikes too lean.
Use premium pump fuel and I use 65ml of TTS in 5 litres,
-
What notch is the needle set at?
Really clogged up mid box can cause bad fowling, worth giving it a good clean along with the front pipe. As bilco said check the compression as well
-
Would'nt bother voting, a biker no matter how good or what they have acheived will never win that award. MCN have tried for years to get Foggy the top prize but never happened. I heard Dougie was'nt invited one year even though he was reigning World Champ.
How the hell did she win that? I simply dont beleive Jo public had any say in the winner
-
Number 27 I hope sure he will come of age next year
-
Jetset, write a little letter to Santa, theres just about enough time left, say you ve been a good boy this year and please, please can the elves knock him up a set of Raptors for Monday morning. If you sell the bike later take the pegs/hangers off and sell them on here, you,ll easy get half you money back.
-
Thanks for the info Dave, we will see what happens over the next few months and report back. Bike did about 8 hours yesterday in pretty mucky conditions without any problems, maybe the dusty summer will test the carb better.
Ralph does clean the carb out pretty much every ride, may be a pain for the time being untill a slightly larger tract can found for ease of refitting. I think it needs as much of a test as possible in the interest of Beta riders on here but Ralphs on holiday for the next 4 weeks, what do you recon Ralph? you going to lend me it whilst your away or what? may even be able to find an easy way of refitting it
You put up with it for 8 months though Dave, quite a long time really, must have been something good to stop you flinging the Mikuni back in. I know all bikes are a little different running, Ralphs was quite good before the Dell went on but the difference it has made is amazing, really hope it keeps going without any probs

He was like he'd found the key to the pie shop all day it was that good big thanks to Carl as well for pointing us in the right direction

Went straight on mate, but was off a rev3 to start with. The jetsizes I stated are correct so use those first time. Fuel consumption should be better as it stays in the carb not spilling out the overflow. Started no problem from hot as well but took a few more kicks from cold, bigger choke jet should sort that though
