  1. Motovintage, not checked the pads yet for wear after the weekend but really pleased with front brake now in the wet, still using the standard 4rt disc so will keep an eye on disc wear over the next few weeks. Back brake is fine on the 4rt so no need for a change there but may when the Galfers wear out.
  2. Hi Mark, how you doing, I got the pads off Ebay UK, do a search for montesa 4rt and they will be on the first page, if you want a set sending let me know via pm
  3. Ace day, thanks to the club and all the observers, must have been pretty bleak out there today in places,
  4. Rode the John Mac today with the new pads, plenty of water about and lots of wet muddy slippy stuff in the first group. Pads were 10 times better than before, never had any front brake problems all day, almost like riding in the dry they remained that strong. Will have a look at wear on the disc tomorrow and pads but to be honest they work so well I'm not bothered if it wears a disc out every 3 months its worth it.
  5. Skive tonight off work mate and have a great day at the Mac tomoz

  6. Pete, good luck with the Trial whats up with the cattle at Top Farm?
  7. Me,Dad and Ralph sneaked up the dishes today for a few hours so I stuck the sintered pads in for a try. They work alot better than the Galfer ones, much stronger feel to the brake and you can lock it easy if you need to but not snatchy. Got a Trial up North tomorrow mainly streams so hope they work ok in the water - bone dry at the dishes so bloody good in the dusty stuff.
  8. Thanks guys, had heard about gasser discs being better than the Monts, got a set of sintered pads here and will stick them in next week and report back. Good thanks Glenn, bit older and uglyier though but really enjoying the 4rt
  9. Anyone tried the "Braking" sintered pads in a trials bike on here? lots of us having a few probs with the 4rt front brake in streams so need to try other pad makes or possibly another type of disc. Thanks Just
  10. dont think the 4rt has one
  11. The key to this working is as said by Trickydicky "The C of C's just need to lay the trials out so that it makes bugger all difference if you can hop or not!" I think the rule change is the correct one as it makes observing a hell of alot easier and eases the pressure on them whilst marking a rider. The Trials at club level at the moment are perfect, yes too tight down south but thats because of the ground available but most can be rode without stopping for long periods of time but non stop is impossible. If C of C's set trials next year even tighter where the only way around a turn is to hop and stop then yes it will be a pain, dont change anything from what it is now, this rule will only help the observers and good job too, I dread observing these days. If the sections remain as they are now I just cant see why or how anyone is going to stand there for 30 seconds looking at a step that could have been ridden straight up easier to start with? but make the run ups non existant or mega tight then yes we'll get queues. Just to add, last year I observed a section at the Colmore, the section I was on had a tight 90 degree turn followed by a big steep climb with a big under cut log at the top. I could nt see any way the turn could be rode non stop to make an attempt at the climb so what do I do as an observer? give 99% of the field a 1 for stopping to make the turn and get ****ing old **** shouted at me for 3 hours or bend the rules? the current stop is a 1 aint worked
  12. Araldite Neon, stays pliable when hot and stopped my 4RT leak, JB Weld is a more permanent fix but might be a **** to get off at a later date

    04 Beta

I had an 04 and yes they are a good bike, it may be prone to needing a new stator so check if its had a new one recently or at all, a replacement might cost you 100 quid. If its been rode alot you might need a shock service, someones just posted a company who does this on Ebay, check wheel bearings, forkseals colour of water in the rad and what the clutch oil looks like. Should start firstish kick, make sure it idles clean and revs out clean, any nasty rattly noises might be costly from engine and gearbox.
  15. SMART a*** ANSWERS 2007 The last one is a worthy winner. 6th Place It was mealtime during a flight on a British Airways plane: 'Would you like dinner?' the flight attendant asked the man seated in the front row. 'What are my choices?' the man asked. 'Yes or no,' she replied. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5th Place A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets. As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her. Without blinking an eyelid she said, 'Sir, I need to see your ticket not your stub.' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4th Place A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at a branch of Sainsbury's but she couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a passing assistant, 'Do these turkeys get any bigger?' The assistant replied, ' I'm afraid not, they're dead.' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3rd Place The policeman got out of his car and approached the boy racer he stopped for speeding. 'I've been waiting for you all day,' the bobby said. The kid replied, 'Yes, well I got here as fast as I could.' When the policeman finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd Place A lorry driver was driving along on a country road. A sign came up that read ' Low Bridge Ahead.' Before he realised it, the bridge was directly ahead and he got stuck under it. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up. The policeman got out of his car and walked to the lorry's cab And said to the driver, 'Got stuck, eh?' The lorry driver said, 'No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of petrol!' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SMART a***d ANSWER OF THE YEAR 2007 A teacher at a polytechnic college reminded her pupils of tomorrow's final exam. 'Now listen to me, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury, illness, or a death in your immediate family, but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever!' A smart-a***d guy at the back of the room raised his hand and asked, 'What would happen if I came in tomorrow suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?' The entire class was reduced to laughter and sniggering. When silence was restored, the teacher smiled knowingly at the student, shook her head and sweetly said, 'Well, I suppose you'd have to write with your other hand'.
  16. If it sounds like I was having a go at the Club then I apologise, I was responding to Jams posts implying that riders couldnt be a***d to turn up to Mid Centre Trials, may be the way my computer is set up but I cant see the Trial on the Mid Centre Site? Yes not everyone has the internet nor wants it but a Club/Company etc is seriously limiting their advertising without it these days and you simply have to move on with the times, long gone are the days of hoping for a full house at events especially these days, promotion of events on the net is free and easy to do and maximises event exposure. Dont think I slagged the TMX either, I just dont buy it as many like me dont as the internet does in many cases and should be a source of Trials events listings, yes I used to buy the TMX before the internet but that was the only way of finding out, these days it isnt. Ive rode Dudley Trials before and as you say they are well run and good venues run by hard working people, I didnt ever say anything different. Not sure what a certain Centre is like these days near to us but it was pretty much a closed shop re events years ago, very little events ever advertised even in the TMX or anywhere else, you had to join one of the Centre clubs then be sent the fixture book with the Trials in? missed out on any outside centre riders big time I should think. If I want to sell any of my products from my Business I make sure as many people know about them as possible, the net is a free way of doing this and gets to more people than any other medium these days and isnt limited to space/per word costs. Jam and Woody, next time you know theres a Dudley or Mid Centre Trial on, as TC members let everyone know on here and the Club wont have to get on the net if they dont want too.
  17. Exactly Stu, like many people including myself. Your centre may not issue an event booklet so you may not have received one. I think the Centre issues them or club not the ACU itself (might be wrong) I lost the book months ago, put it safe I expect and will turn up sometime in 2011 no doubt. Scorpa3 on here pretty much always lets people know when theres a SuA Trial on in advance, even though I,m a member of his club I would never know a Trial was on unless he reminded me.
  18. Its a real shame when Trials have to be cancelled whatever the reason, lack of entries surely means more than likely that the event wasnt advertised enough, I like many dont buy the TMX so the usual way of knowing Trials are on are from TC/ clubs own sites and and centre sites. It costs nothing to advertise an event like this and even a short post on here will create more interest and jog peoples memories that the event is on. I dont think giving a little book out at the beginning of the year ensures full houses at the events in it and certainly wont bring in out side centre riders. Most of our lot like to travel about and go to lots of centres in the year, the Trials we do are well advertised on here or club sites, it works
  19. To be honest me and Clarkey would have come to more of these and probably this one if we had known it was on, cant see it on TC advertised and its not on the Mid Centre site either? expect its only in the TMX which not everyone buys, if you want more entries advertise them on here and Centre site its free. Far to many clubs seem to keep their Trials a secret almost? then wonder why entries are low.

    Fuel ?

Use the best fuel you can get, high octane etc and make sure you use good 2 stroke oil specific for trials bikes not MX or junk from the local garage for chainsaws. Avgas is good but mix it 50/50 with 97 Octane or just use 98/99 like Shell V Force, Castrol TTS is a good oil Ive always used in 2 strokes
  21. Andy, great Trial today, thanks to all who helped/observed, dropped way more than I should have but aint it always the way. Sections were spot on for a good ride round and I would imagine some quite tricky on a Twinshock or Pre65. The routes between groups were excellent as well and all the roads nice and quiet. Me and Ralph got back to the vans first at about 2 ish, first through every section I think from the petrol stop nearly? didnt notice any of the streams being slippy being first through though, defo be back next year as will all the lads we rode with Well done again and sure you got it spot on
