is it me or did he say his stator may be faulty??
if so why the hell would he strip the engine? all he would need is the flywheel cover off!! and this should always be fitted with a new gasket (whether it splits or not). There nice and simple answer to simple question!
as for taking engines to bits and jumping in at the deep end i am a motor tech and i would suggest instead of playing on your nice special mont do one of the following
1/ find beg buy but not steal an old road bike etc and take that to bits and play!
2/ go to your local college and enrol in a motor bike course etc, you never know you may enjoy it get a qualification and then become a bike mechanic.................(god help us )
oh and wonder boy go here http://www.iespell.com/ and down load it its a spell checker that runs in your browser!
As the title of the post is "upgrading front brakes!"
ill talk about the front!
i have a yk2000 Mont and fitted a galfer 4 pot calliper and wavy disk, had the bike 4 years and just put set front pads in! i never had and probs at all.
the standard master cylinder and pipe will fit OK! though you may need to mod the front disk guard or buy on off a 4 pot bike!
you get a set of pads with it but i would recomend using original pads when you replace them!
a small bit of play will be ok
this is how i get the crank bearings out of my model car engine (alloy block steel bearings)
put em in the oven at 200 deg c for 15 min take out tap on a bit of wood and the bearings fall out! put new bearings in freezer and alloy back in oven, then new ones will fall in!
this is how i do mine
the foam is fish pond filter foam. to make it better i am going to make it into a square to go across the front.
also make sure you have the black foam seal you can see inside the rear fender!
if you unbolt the rear tank bolt/bottom fender screw and push rear down it lifts ud to let fuel tank out! only way i ever done it!
though to drain carb snap on 14mm spanner and undoe nut under float all in situ!
my suggestion, follow this link and read it all, then do my idea, you then get the best of both!. if you block the holes it does not signifantly effect performance but the air is then drawn from below the fender!
