2016 Montesa Rr 300
Tire sizes are never very true, they can be plus or minus 10 % between brands. Kawasaki started messing with sizing when they came out with a 4.10 tire measured across the radius. It was still a 3.50 tire but made the specs look better. Just like a 5.10 tire equals a 4.50. The conversion tables are off due to many sizing differences plus the 10 % rule. Those sizing charts are for the buying public.

What Would You Buy ...?
If I were buying a 2016 it would be a new 300 Scorpa! I had my son test ride one yesterday, and he was impressed. Of course I had a go too!

I Need Some Trial Advice
To answer the rest of your questions. The early `95`s came with Del Orto carbs which were hard to jet, the later ones with mikuni`s. The Techno`s had a very low first gear, I usaually rode everything in second.

Dan`s clutch fix is for dragging, not worn plates.

2016 Montesa Rr 300
The old Michelin is a 4.00 tire. The new Dunlop`s are 120/18, the old Dunlop`s are 4.00x 18. The conversion between the two can be off, it`s still a 4 inch tire, just the metric size in a new tire.

It sounds like in the upper gears the clutch is slipping, that is why it feels jetted better.

The damn exhaust hole. Shheez. I have a air lift bike stand. That I have had about thirty years. I have a certain placement for most parts. If it`s not there, I`m lost!

Rear Wheel Sealing!
The correct way to put it on is with soap and water. The other solutions are for when there is a problem. Corrosion, pinched band, etc.

Wheel Bearing Spinning In The Hub. . .
You could use a punch and put several divots all the way around. Don`t laugh, Sherco put out a service bulletin using this technique to solve the main bearings spinning in the center cases! It works! Clean or bust beat me to it!

Scorpa Teikei (Tk) Carb Jet Source

Scorpa Teikei (Tk) Carb Jet Source
These jets have been used in Yamaha`s for years and years. The TY350 had a TK carb. And yes the dealerships are useless because they are only as smart as the useless computer. All the old parts guys are gone. By the way your Yamaha engine was 15 years old in 2008!http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-288-14343-70-00.html The third set of numbers, in this case the 70 is the jet size according to Yamaha part numbers. A 75 would be a 150 jet. Same with the pilots, a 20 would be your 40. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-43F-14342-19-00.html Tell that story to your Yamaha parts specialist. Back when they still printed Yamaha complete parts books it was easier without the computer. I bet the dealer actually has the mains in stock, but not the pilots. Good luck!

Scorpa Teikei (Tk) Carb Jet Source
You have the jets backwards in your head. You can get the jets from Yamaha. You are talking a 140 main(288-14343-70-00) and 36 pilot (43f-14342-18-00).

Clutch Pull When Learning To Zap?
Touching no, when you start compression.

Clutch Pull When Learning To Zap?
Start with very small obstacles to get the feel and timing. Logs are the best, but small ledges are ok too. The clutch starts to come in as the suspension compresses and is dumped upon full compression. All the while your body mimics the compression with the legs and knees. You explode up and forward at the same time as the clutch release. That is the easy part. The hard part with the traditional Jap Zap is dropping the front wheel much lower than with the double blip, as in so low you are afraid. Nothing to it!
