    4Rt Fork Seals

    Gas Gas BT201303013
  2. The brakes just got better, more power and better feel. 4 pots were around way before the brakes were good. So it took 15 years before discs were really good.
  3. Nothing has changed in trials the last 20 years. You still have the rest of the world trying to chase four Spanish riders! http://www.trial4fun.com/news/trial-history-flashback-1995-trial-der-nationen-piestingaustria/

  5. As a kid, I practiced balancing for hours. The engine is not needed. Ask this bloke! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRi5DfDPIrU
  6. Beta had better Enduro bikes to start with. The new importer has been lucky as Beta is fairly well built bike. I really do not like his new setup as a true importer. Who in the USA would you call for real technical advise on a BETA? They refer you to the Dealers. Maybe I was spoiled being able to talk to Ron SR all those years. The only one, might be Ray Peters. On the Gas Gas issue, Snell has done more for Gasser riders from a repair stand point than anybody in the world. He would have always had parts if the Factory had not got behind in it`s financial dealings. This new owner sounds like he has good intentions. Might be hard for him to understand what the true market for trials is in the USA. Very much an underground sport. This is coming from a healthy trials club with quite a few members with motorcycle backgrounds for decades at the local full line shops. With employees known for years to be involved in trials, most other riders are clueless about our existence. Might end up like all the Honda shops. They all sell Montesa`s, but no parts or knowledge available.

    Stator Plate

Move the (Replace it with new) condenser to the frame by the coil. If that does not fix the problem start with new points. If still no spark, pull the stator apart. The coils and plate. Be careful of the wires. You are probably shorting out from a bare wire in the assembly some where. Heat shrink, wrap or liquid tape and re-assemble. I just went through this process on a friends bike I was working on. Good luck.
  8. It should fit perfectly.
  9. I really like your clutch cover. Better save that stock exhaust as that was a USFS approved spark arrester. You never know what you might need in the future.
  10. http://www.betausa.com/sites/default/files/pdf/2012Support/Service%20Manuals/Mototrial/2009-2012%20Evo%202%20stroke%20Engine.pdf Page 34-36 Good luck.
  11. Hopping the front wheel is all legs. Short little hops are the best. Hopping though is not really a new rider`s skill set. You first have to learn to turn, and that is with your feet. But balancing and hopping are great indoor practice. Once you master front wheel hops, you should be able to do a 360 in either direction. Never favor a side in your practice. Good luck.
  12. First look at the condition of your pads. It`s a lot easier to fix with new pads. Almost 50% time people have worn out brakes. Loss of pressure can be a lot of things. As long as you have no leaks, a m/c rebuild kit would be the next thing to try. Good luck.
  13. Chances are those forks are off a 2000, and yes they were available on the 2001. I actually like those forks. Worst thing is the original fender stays were all red plastic and were terrible because of fork flex. In the spring of 2000 Beta came out with upgraded parts kit that was an aluminum fork brace/fender mount. Very nice kit and made the front end work. You have half of the kit after looking at it again. You have the fender stay, but not the brace.
  14. Why would you be sourcing parts for the 4RT in the USA when we got all the parts from England? From 1977-2013 all Honda trials bikes were gray marketed into the USA. Montesa quit importing around 1993. Dennis is the one to ask though. And you might ask Adrian at Lewisport.
  15. It seems most products come with little or no directions nowadays. I like the bolt length idea. It would be very easy to check just by a head to head comparison.
  16. Half of our state has had record snowfalls lately. Luckily our main riding ares are still almost dry. I had to dig through 3 foot of snow to get the bikes out. My Honda civic is the snow pile in the middle.
  17. Yeah, I noticed when I put my Zero`s through my calf. 3 layers of stitches and a drain.
  18. The new bikes move much better than the `04 ever did. You can and should replace the spring. But hopping is all about timing, have someone that can hop try your bike first.
  19. Japan would be the best place to find the 4 stroke Yamaha. They were the only rider`s that liked it. I`ve only ever seen one.
  20. 10nm = 89 lb/in I would get new washers and O-rings from Ryan and do 90 inch lbs and call it good.
  21. My godson got a 2015 200 last year and improved ten fold and was just killing it. At the last minute he changed his mind for a 250 this year. Will be interesting how it goes.
  22. I can understand this mod as hard as a std Bull clutch can be. Only downside in our vintage club is you would have to ride with a different class of bikes. Not a deal killer. Very nice looking considering it`s using the same case. How long have you used it?
  23. We just got two 2016 std models this last week. Morad rims, god knows who made the hubs (not Honda). The new Dunlops on the Montesa measure 4.25 inches at the widest point. Well within FIM rules. With three 2005 4rt`s sitting next to the bikes with a combo of Dunlop 803`s (old style) a Michelin and one with an Irc. Tire width is seemingly identical. Only changes between the years, suspension, brakes, fuel tank and plastics and wheels. The frame appears to be slightly altered, but did not do any measurements. The S3 bars, new foot pegs and brackets are a nice touch. Still a great deal for a clubman rider buying a bike to use for more than a few years. Cannot wait to actually ride a 300.
