These jets have been used in Yamaha`s for years and years. The TY350 had a TK carb. And yes the dealerships are useless because they are only as smart as the useless computer. The third set of numbers, in this case the 70 is the jet size according to Yamaha part numbers. A 75 would be a 150 jet. Same with the pilots, a 20 would be your 40. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-43F-14342-19-00.html
Tell that story to your Yamaha parts specialist. Back when they still printed Yamaha complete parts books it was easier without the computer. I bet the dealer actually has the mains in stock, but not the pilots. Good luck!

You have the jets backwards in your head. You can get the jets from Yamaha. You are talking a 140 main(288-14343-70-00) and 36 pilot (43f-14342-18-00).

Us backward Yanks just use the little funnel cap on the bottle.

Look at your knee`s. They should be hip wide while riding and balancing.

The chip is not going to stop it from running, but what did come apart? A lot of metal chips in the head. Mains? Rod Bearing? Something happened.

Touching no, when you start compression.

Start with very small obstacles to get the feel and timing. Logs are the best, but small ledges are ok too. The clutch starts to come in as the suspension compresses and is dumped upon full compression. All the while your body mimics the compression with the legs and knees. You explode up and forward at the same time as the clutch release. That is the easy part. The hard part with the traditional Jap Zap is dropping the front wheel much lower than with the double blip, as in so low you are afraid. Nothing to it!

Sounds ok at idle, but towards the end it sounded like bad main bearings to me.

I always rode with 110% confidence that I was going to make it. No spotter was the best for me. It`s funny you ask about what year that fear set in. It was last months trials and I`ve been riding since `72. I can no longer get off my bike very well. I had several rocks that were hard and one that I found an alternate line to go around, even though I`ve always made it up this wall. Having spotters is good when you are trying to learn certain techniques to boost your level of riding. But if you are talking just the large do or die rocks in Arizona trials, I would still just approach it with full confidence. Good luck. Some of this is just so mental.

Lots of variables, mostly all clutch, I prefer higher gears. Hard to say without being there.

It`s a `92 Synt. The `93 had the 4 pot rear brake.

You are probably out of pad. Start with new pads. Happens all the time!

It is possible to put the slide in backwards. Do you know what the slide is? I`ve seen this happen a dozen times. Back to the carb, take the top off, the angled cut goes towards the filter. Simple.

I have ridden Beta`s since 1990. Usually one or two kicks. I even have a `86 for vintage, same thing one or two kicks. 1973 Sammy Miller Taco usually first kick. You either just have bad luck or something else. The Sherco would be the easiest to start, if that is the main priority.

I think the bike came with a 13 to start with. The 11t is the smallest ever made. Anything smaller would not work anyway. An 11t usually is good, so the rear will have to be the way to go.
