  1. There is a lot you can do with that simple design, including a modern bike!
  2. The cam markings are a general guide, not set in stone straight.
  3. http://www.trialspartsusa.com/GASGASmanuals.htmlAll the part numbers are in here. You can call them or your local dealer. you are not just going to find it online. The old fashioned way of talking will have to do.
  4. My son, my god son and his little brother all cleaned the wall that got my goat. I`ve probably been up this 50 times over the years!
  5. I always rode with 110% confidence that I was going to make it. No spotter was the best for me. It`s funny you ask about what year that fear set in. It was last months trials and I`ve been riding since `72. I can no longer get off my bike very well. I had several rocks that were hard and one that I found an alternate line to go around, even though I`ve always made it up this wall. Having spotters is good when you are trying to learn certain techniques to boost your level of riding. But if you are talking just the large do or die rocks in Arizona trials, I would still just approach it with full confidence. Good luck. Some of this is just so mental.
  6. Lots of variables, mostly all clutch, I prefer higher gears. Hard to say without being there.
  7. You are probably out of pad. Start with new pads. Happens all the time!

    Montesas

Your son would be happier on the new Scorpa or Sherco. For the Montesa lovers, the 300 RR is the best looking bike ever!

It is possible to put the slide in backwards. Do you know what the slide is? I`ve seen this happen a dozen times. Back to the carb, take the top off, the angled cut goes towards the filter. Simple.
  10. I have ridden Beta`s since 1990. Usually one or two kicks. I even have a `86 for vintage, same thing one or two kicks. 1973 Sammy Miller Taco usually first kick. You either just have bad luck or something else. The Sherco would be the easiest to start, if that is the main priority.
  11. I think the bike came with a 13 to start with. The 11t is the smallest ever made. Anything smaller would not work anyway. An 11t usually is good, so the rear will have to be the way to go.
  12. I have never understood why people think a left hand kick start is a deal breaker. Same as right side, unless you are missing your left leg.
  13. Both are good bikes. Depends on if you want to hop and bop all day long, I`d pick the Gasser. If you want a good solid bike and just enjoy the sport without being the `new` top rider I`d take the Montesa. Both bikes can do anything, but the Gasser is easier to learn the tricks on.
  14. No, JML I bet he could do it with a bone stock bike. It`s all about timing.
  15. So Ryan has no answers for this?
  16. It`s similar. Call Adrian, he has Gas Gas plates. Other wise you could sand down the friction plates.
  17. Is there a reason you just don`t rebuild the old one.
  18. You have to check the throttle at all front wheel positions. Full lock left, full lock right, ect.

    slide in backwards?
  20. Another common issue on the pro is the kick start pawl. It chips easily and gets carried by the idler gear to the large primary gear. (The teeth on the clutch)It does not take much metal to cause a vibration or knock. It can be very hard to find. (magnify glass needed) It gets smashed between the teeth to the point that it looks normal to the naked eye. Good luck.
  21. You probably had the smooth Wes before, you might look at the shorty version.
