    300 4T

If starting is the problem buy a 250. I`ve recently went round and round with a gentleman that was a long time rider (older) with a knee replacement. Smaller is better.
  2. Go easy on yourself. Everyone remembers themselves better than what they truly are. Come the third loop you will be glad you did. Worse that could happen is you move up next event. Myself I`m not that smart, I`ve ridden on and off for years. I think in the last four years I`ve finished maybe eight events in modern style. Many more in vintage. But next weekend I`ll be trying to beat my kid in expert!

    4T Rear Shock

I was wondering if you would comment.
  5. It`s been awhile since my son had his. I want to say 11-48 and my 200 pound friends use a 54. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/the-compleat-yamaha-ty80-thread.574301/
  6. It`s been a long time. Check to see if there is a mark on the threads and actuator arm. Seems there was another piece inside that needed to be timed. Good luck.
  7. Yamaha ty 80. Gear it down so the clutch does not matter. Hours of fun and you should not lose a dime.
  8. World Champ, are you saying you have too much oil then to have a quick hook up. Could it be the oil?

    4T Rear Shock

That is true, but the same rider normally rides a Beta 4t. I have spent an afternoon on his bike. Anyone that has ever been on his bike will say that his suspension is the best feeling suspension they have ever felt. All stock. The motor on the other hand is very far from a stock machine. So correct set up is the key to getting the most out of your machine.
  10. Well there will be a lot of long time gasser riders at the TDN on other brands, but not by choice.
  11. Even the sites pushing the big four often do not push slow moving parts. You have to actually speak to someone. The pro has been out 14 years now and I have yet to see a broken one. Bad luck? Or boots stuck to the peg? I`m sure you will find one. In fact now that you mention it, I`m glad to remember I have a spare!
  12. The K&N has nothing to do with the over heating, but also has no place being on a trials bike. So was the water pump bad? Did you have a head leak? Have you hooked up 12v to the fan? I would by pass the thermo until you solve this problem. Fix the problem, do not go for a long ride. It could be just electrical.

Ray Peters. Here`s the results of our last event. His scores are the lower right under the Master class. After two days of riding he smoked our top riders. Nothing new there, but he was riding a 2015 Beta 80 at 8000 ft of elevation. That`s right he killed it on a stock 80cc. I think a stock shock will work well for 99% of riders !
  14. Since you have decided to tear into it. The shift shaft rides in the kick start shaft. This area deserves the most attention. Cleaned and anti seized.
  15. So how does it run? It could of been a `lost` one.
  16. It`s an `89. You would have to pull the jug and measure the bore. Those are not trials bars.
  17. Crazy you and my boss enjoy a hanging bike. But it moves. Over 25 years ago I got lucky and bought a real motorcycle lift from a dealer going out of business. Nothing like being able to put four bikes cross wise to lift and change tires or forks all in one swoop. ( Ps Taffe`s idea is great!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7yHuPtsr8w
  18. They come off easy enough. Pay attention to front and back. Also the bushings are different front to back. After you re-do it a couple of times it`s easy. You can drive the bearings out with a socket and drive the new one`s in with an old bearing.
  19. Pull the clutch cover and the clutch and everything is there. Awhile back I had one of the roller pins break off the end of the shift drum. Luckily that is a separate piece to the shift drum. Real easy fix. You could also have just a bent shaft. Good luck.
  20. Nice clip, real bikes with good section content!
  21. Risers have nothing to do with it. Bend your knee`s and weight back. Do not just stand stiff legged. Try a video or two, and watch riders body position.
  22. By the way, Red Rubber grease is the way to go.
