So if you recently bought it, is it new? Or did you buy someone`s problem. I would be talking to the dealer. Are you sure you don`t have a stuck piston?
-
It got hot from the ride. The orings in the head might have went or the piston did. I would drain the coolant, remove the head and have a look. Posting pics would be good, too.
-
Are you using the petcick? Hard starting on a normal rev 3 usually would be caused by engine flooding. A Beta sbould easily start with 2 or three kicks. Nothing wrong with the Mikuni on the Beta. They were standard equipment from 1990 to 2007. Beta tried the Del Orto in 1995 and those ran like crap.
-
It appears you are not in the UK? Markets varied world wide.
-
If you looked at my post, he needs a larger pilot and slightly leaner than stock on the main. Remember we are talking a 200, which was not a full 200cc.
-
It has to do with atmospheric pressure AND the bikes come from the factory usually too lean on purpose for emission standards.

Now this thread is getting somewhere.

And I don`t like crazy bar risers, but do like a better bend of bar.

Running good when cold, says it is not the key way.
-
If it starts within two kicks, you are golden. Very few bikes are one kick wonders.
-
It could not hurt to unplug all connections and double check all grounds.
-
During that time, riders would keep the old AJP`s and put the Formula`s on the old bikes. The best fix is find a used set of AJP`s. I am running 2005 AJP`s on my `16 as the Brak Tec`s are marginally better.
-
So is the plug wet every time you remove it? I still think the engine is full of fluid if it won`t kick over. Hydro locked. The old TXT motor actually has a drain on the right center case for the crankcase.
-
Too bad as it is the easiest problem to sort. Still could be the carb. The Keihin works fine, except that tower can get clogged up and or the oring leaks. My bikes float tab actually sticks and then bends the tab with a hard hit. Then it just floods. Pain in the rear. Good luck.
-
Careful, because that can be the same thing as fuel or electronic. Had the same issue with a guy with a 2018 Beta. He swore he had no spark issue. Turned out it was the replacement fuel cap not venting.
-
You may have flooded the engine. Did you transport it with the fuel off?
-
Vent line plugged? Take the fuel cap off and run.
During a 40 mile event, my son`s check ball in the fuel cap started to stick. We drilled it out. No more ball no more problem. He had to keep taking the cap off to ride the sections.

I have no idea WHY they changed the gear cam when nothing was wrong with it for what, 16 years. Bigusdickus is probably right that the problem is somewhere else. All the shifting does is do what? Rotate the shift drum. What part has been changed the most? The shift drum. Maybe 5 times. The weirdest thing the 200 started using it`s own drum in `16. Another why? So perhaps the wrong drum is being installed. If my bike popped out of gear to where I was worried, I would of split the cases yesterday.
I have had a bike do this before, 1981 Cota 200. And this is scary.

After riding my sons TRS, I bought the curve footpegs for my Beta. Huge difference.

Try a 38 or 40 pilot and start with a 100 main jet. That should get you going in the right direction. Call your Gas Gas dealer in Pueblo.
-
-
You have one guy talking about and two want to be`s chiming in. I have never heard anyone in my club ever mention it. I have ridden about 40 events on my 2016 and it never has. I did miss a shift once this year!
-
Actually I fell in love with the Gold model`s rear shock. That is such a great feeling bike. Our Beta dealer had a 2019 model out this Sunday and I liked the red, but who knows what the Factory will look like.
