  1. Your first post and this is it? Let the riders ride. It all works out at the end of the day.
  2. First why did someone put a Delorto on it ? Second it is the pilot circuit that is not working. There is a passage under the slide and in front of it. Third the choke passage in the float bowl has to be clear too.
  3. Quit wasting your time on starting fluid. Throw the damn thing on the ground. Jump up and down three times, saying piece of crap. Pick it back up and give it a good kick. Works every time.
  4. Compared to modern bikes 2002 is mellow power and slow reacting. I have had two 2002's. One a 250 and a 270. Loved them both, have fun.
  5. lineaway

    poor starting

Clean the carb properly. The Idle circuit is plugged up.
  6. I know for sure, that Jack Price`s bike should have not made the second day in Arizona last year. It sounded horrid. And I scored both days. To fourex, I would try going up to a 48 or 50 pilot. I know our fuel is not the same, but you are chasing a bike that comes lean on the pilot. Everyone forgets the pilot runs 100% of the time.
  7. Solarflares I posted that in the bicycle section over three years ago. BICYCLE But cool none the less.
  8. Before fuel injection, they need to fix the transmission. The gap between first and second has always been too far. As far back with Beta to the Zero`s first has been too low. Nobody else has this problem. You can make first work, but second is then too high, or you make second work and first is useless. Might as well be a 5 speed.
  9. Before giving up. You need to try new pads first. Most of the time it is just worn pads in the first place.
  10. Full rebuild. Wonder if the bearings are spinning in the case?
  11. It happened right when it was shut down. It could be alot of things. Rings, bad main bearing. I suggested starting with the clutch due to the noise before the squeak. (And you have to do this in steps)
  12. No, grinding a spring. That is more likely to leave you in a fix. People have been shortening springs for decades. Just start off small. Another problem with soft throttle springs is they are harder to control. Just a little movement from the throttle hand or hard hit causes some in put to the carb. You could also lube the cable and tube.
  13. Have you had the clutch cover off recently? It sounds like the fingers scratching on the cases to me. The clutch fingers.
  14. Just cut a few coils off the spring.
  15. Newest Repsol we have ridden was a '15. I really do like the 300 rr.
  16. Shift shaft linkage. I believe that was similar to the Gasser type.
  17. Have you not ridden a late model 4rt? The tech`s come on 90% of the Montesa`s sold. As being a package together with the rear shock, the suspension is quite impressive. I do not ride 4RT`s but the family that is my employer has 10 of them. So I ride them weekly. It`s night and day between the bikes with Showa`s and the newer one`s with the tech`s. Quite more lively modern feel to the whole bike.
  18. The techs work better.
  19. We got to ride the new standard 2018 300 4T. Alot more zip than the previous standards. Not as much as a Factory, but not far off. Definately louder, but a good type of louder than the sewing machine it sounded like before. Nice looking bike.
  20. While the exposure has been great to see a brand new trials bike on the floor at the local Honda dealer, I cannot think of a new rider that we gained. Most new riders that bought the bike came out to an event once and not returned. We do have more Montesa's than most clubs though, at least twenty. So that is a pretty good showing.
  21. That is a funny response as in the states the Montesa is the only trials bike that does not have a warranty.
  22. Buy an Ohlins or Rieger as your shock is probably tired. But it still won`t make you bunny hop. Timing, timing and timing, is how it works.
  23. Loving Hondas is not the way to choose a trials bike. The Beta 200 is the hands down choice for a newbie bike. Honda also makes a truck. That would be last on my list when looking for a truck.
  24. Oh I see the mirror image while sitting and on my a***. But I was texting and driving in the middle of no where. In the middle of a old mining district in New Mexico.
  25. You do not need to order a tool. A feeler gauge is more correct as you have multiple size range. It only works if a piece of debris is the problem.
