I doubt the bikini will suit you!!!!!
  2. Lots of vintage action out there it seems! You need to find Clive"No Jive" as he is up in the hills somewhere not far from you. Needs a good reason to ride his Bultaco! Boulder Creek I think is where he is.
  3. And what fuel ere you running? Neo?
  4. Well the constant long climbs at speed would indeed be a different problem . A 4rT may indeed get on better in those conditions. Steve Fracy lives up there and rides the 4T Sherco. Would have to ask him how it does in the logging roads.
  5. Yea, and few today even have an idea of just how screwed up things really are in the world of computers. Retaining some ability to revert back to manual operation and such has saved our business millions over the years. Otherwise we might as well all just go home for the day or more! Same with physically fixing cars themselves actually, not just the business end. If the computers themselves are able to tell you anything, it is usually some jumbled mess, of which data one cannot rely upon strictly due to the shortcomings of the idiots that have little to no idea of what is happening in the real world anyway. This is what happens when you put too many Geeks and Engineers in one room! TOGETHER! Mostly, things just set off a warning light, but these things are just telling a problem, not why! The reason lists can be as long as your arm! And not always correct! just the basics! Data overload, none relevent! Go figure! Which is usually where I come in to try and sort the fly **** from the pepper, and basics prevail in most cases!!!! I actually have little idea what the hell these young folks are going to do once all the old farts die off that can still function without a computer telling them what the hell to do, once it runs out of options. I guess they are just screwed! None even care to get their hands dirty! Oh well? Maybe this is why I am still analog based, just need a phone to "talk", and if my GPS goes out, I am able to navigate using a compass in most cases. Not that I fail to use such convenience, with full color moving maps when available! But whenthings go, one must still function. Never rely on just one!
  6. Well, ok then, I get the general layout, although I hav not disected one. You might still try the -2 setup on the springs, as it is easy to change. I have ridden it for the last year or so and love the light lever action. The "feel" can be a bit iffy, takes some adjustment, even running the ATF. In the 4T, I do think one could safely go with a light oil such as 5-20 with no lubrication problems and be more conducive to the light clutch. We run these oils in many cars nowdays that are much more highy stressed than a trials motor! If one rides the lower classes, he would probably never have an issue with the light clutch, as I can still get a good "pop" out of it when needed in the section gears, just need to let it fly and slam shut! I am still tinkering with springs!
  7. SWMBO's = Spending Wifes Money Because Otherthings I want to do? I have had to limit my activities because wife cut me off!!!!!!!
  8. I cannot imagine why any of them could not handle a steady 50kmh(35mph)
  9. There are at least a couple Lousiana guys that come over and spend the weekend in Texas when events are going on. Would recommend you try to get on one of the club e-mail lists or find the web sites. ntxtrials.com, texastrials.com would get you started. Cheers,
  10. Going back to our National events whilst running no stop, which I did act at as observer, I can recall being told in the observers meeting such statements in observer meeting as "we do not want any "Hitler" observers, give them a break, count "one' onethousand " before you bust any on a 5 for a stop! OK, judging my first National, what am I supposed to make of all this? Years later I can understand better, yet the grey area still exhists! Add, personally, I always reverted back to the spirit of the rules and trials in general. So fair to all, screw the written letter if it all! Protest that! How I felt was done, no less, no more. Same for all as much as could be. I hate it as a scorer! Things are much more clear in stop allowed, dab or not, not backwards! Even the backwards toward the course has been an issue recently it seems. I personally have been called for much less in the no stop, ok , fair is fair, still sucked for a hesitation. Point being , the entire concept of no stop can be totally up to interpretation and attention span of what may be an inexperienced or overzealous observer. All good to an extent, as an observer, I need to hand out a few points here!!!!!!!!!! To be honest, I could really burst the bubbles of some, many of which I do not want to do, such as the clubmen and new riders, as it can be a great put off . Even the masters can falter, so what, bust their ass? 1 or 5? Make my day!!!!!! As an observer, I can bust balls , no problem, state your game!!!!!!!!
  11. I cannot fathom why not! Best I recall, the clutch/ gear oil is separate from the motor oil on the 4T. Thus the separate drains, filters, etc. Someone correct me!
  12. Not that I would totally disagree, yet at the same time do I really want the added complexity/weight? Over time the bikes have changed, and to be honest I have little problem pulling gear 4 on the loop in the wood in most situations on the 2.9. Seemed the earlier bikes had less down low to carry the gear at lower revs, so I did drop two teeth on the rear to make things more usable, then seldome used first gear. As we do not run road trials, gearing up 2 teeth has not been needed, yet I realize it would require first in most sections, where I normally use 2nd as an average. All things have their tradeoff, yet much depends upon your terrain as well, length and speed of loops. Having been a sound runner for this long in that department, not really sure if they are ever going to re-design the wheels here.
  13. Is this rider named Zippy? Awesome work dude!
  14. I agree with Ish, on the grass roots end especially! Making an event rideable, fun, yet with a challenge is always key in club events. I can typally lay out a 3 line event that can satisfy most all riders. Easily!
  15. Not funny side: That bloke coming at you at about 20mph on skates! Funny side: I need to bring him over on his holiday, I could get rich! Visions of Arkansas tour, banjo's playing away.

    Fork Issue

Could be any number of things. I would start with an oil change and good cleaning, but really one needs to set a level by comparison with another bike of say 01-05 vintage Sherco. Sometimes just loostening up the clamps and brace can let things settle if something is under stress. You can rotate the tubes in the clamps this way to insure the tubes are straight is you are careful...!
  17. Chris posted this up as I was going to say something very similar. Not that a kid over 13 would actually listen to DAD!!!! I think such a proposal may fall on fond ears at the NATC meeting, in support of the youth riders. Yet, I can see certain obsticles as insurance and such, so a discounted arrangement may be in order. It should be properly debated by those in the arena. I shall remind all, the clubs, AMA, and all need to make a few bucks to be flush for all and to be able to do this stuff.
  18. Yea, you need to call Dabster and ask him how he does it, bouncing about europe and never getting the splats. Guess you gotta know what to eat and all, and where to find ice! You gotta remember, lot of them stinky's don't know what a shower is! And the women have more hair under their arms than you!
  19. Does make him look "Young" er!!! Those party's are hell! BTW, someone gave me a liter od Dewers Scotch whiskey, black label, says it is 12 years old. Not a whiskey person myself, is this stuff any good, or will it kill me?
  20. Some have reported a smoothing of the clutch using something like 20-50 w oil. Neo had his prefrence posted here somewhere, I am still running a thinner oil, less two springs. Less than perfect, but ok.
  21. A few of us witnesses were privy enough to have a B-24 for a stayover at our local airport a few weeks ago. I had gone out to the airport late that Sunday as they were readying to leave. I made no bother with the crew as they were busy, just sat back and watched. They were kind enough to give us few a nice takeoff roll with a good turn after achieving 2-300 feet and gear up. They continued the turn at more than a mile out and in enough angle of bank at 30 or more degrees to give us a good topside view of the aircraft even a mile out, seemed like about 2-3 wingspans off the trees. Then came back across the center (where we were) still in the bank and the wing pointed down at us in the bank angle and folks waving from both ends. Preparing for climbout, all 4 motors were up to power, and the sound was awesome. May be the best display I have ever seen with a heavy directly over my head almost! Quite impressive!
  22. Hummmm, All good in the hood! Good to see others helping others, and the kids! As I recall, there was a rule in the books about riders recieving outside assistance. Could be a touchy point, yet we all try to help each other for the most part I think. I would never like to see it used as a protest. Even the Pros need to give on the loop, use common sense! Be careful! and respectfull of others!
  23. yea, what DF said, plus the screen wire is supposed to be of a certain spec and all that. New is good, usually! Retro later!
  24. Logic from Zippy, go figure!!!!!! Duhhhh! Next post will be: ---------- cheap---------fan--------motor!
  25. I was too breif in my comment, yet basically the war was over for the Germans by 1945. The things seen little service comparitively. Quote from the Wiki thing: A-26s began arriving in Europe in late September 1944 for assignment to the Ninth Air Force. The initial deployment involved 18 aircraft and crews assigned to the 553rd Squadron of the 386th Bomb Group. This unit flew its first mission on 6 September 1944. The first group to fully convert to the A-26B was 416th Squadron which entered combat on 17 November, and the 409th became operational on the A-26 in late November.[11] Due to a shortage of A-26C variants, the groups flew a combined A-20/A-26 unit until deliveries of the glass-nose version caught up. Besides bombing and strafing, tactical reconnaissance and night interdiction missions were undertaken successfully. In contrast to the Pacific-based units, the A-26 was well received by pilots and crew alike, and by 1945, the 9th AF had flown 11,567 missions, dropping 18,054 tons of bombs, recording seven confirmed kills while losing 67 aircraft. Not totally sure just how accurate all it is, Yet these things just carried on in multi roles! There is a nice pic on the wiki site of a later model, tip tanks, underslung wing mounts, viscious guns up front! All Balls and One Bad SOB!! I was on one a few years back, checking it out, mind reeling, we need to start a flying club with one of these! NOT! There is a saying, does not take fuel to keep an aircraft in the air, takes MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! And as time goes on, it takes more and more of it to keep things in the air. Just crazy! And as time goes on, with all the old guys dieing off that know the planes, it becomes even more difficult.
