The good thing about Gassers is their tune-ability.
Easy to soften and easy to perk up.
The extra flywheel (with a few other mods....) works well on my 300.
-
Had 3 Pro's now & no probs with any.
Easy bikes to fettle.
Currently have the 09 300 & it's the best yet.
(once I'd calmed it down a bit..)
-
I understand footpegs are moved forward on TLRs, to counter the light front.

If your mate is riding Thames trials.........there are loads of AMCA trials in that area. No licence, or club membership required. Just turn up & ride.
Check out - Horsham Riders, Worthing, Bognor, RRND & North Hants clubs.
Don't know about Cambridge area though, that might be strictly ACU!
-
Search for GasGasinfo on Youtube.
Engine rebuild vids there..
-
I've been using Putoline bead sealant to fit TL tyres recently - good results so far...
-
Is it a 250? I know there were carb issues on the 280 Pamp. That might have prompted a change..

Trials Bike Buyers Guide
1. Go and view the bike - can you trust a seller's description?
2. Listen to the engine. Pistons & re-plate can cost

In found the (08) 250 a bit revvy. Had an 09 300 for a while now. Using flywheel & slow throttle - spot on now.
Tried the flatside Dellorto - but that turned it into a real experts bike. Awesome motor with that, but not for this slightly less than awesome rider!
-
Xispa = too black. Really needs graffics to brighten up that matt black look.
It looks unfinished.
-
Anyone got specs for Dellorto carb used on 95-ish techno.

I've used EVS Knee Gaskets or some years now. Fits under Hebo trials jeans.
Not sure if these are still available though.
-
Compress the bike more.....shown here: compress & go!

Thanks to all involved for a great day out riding superb terrain. That breakfast was perfect refreshment after our 3.5 hour journey.
As for commenting on the section standard - I can only agree with Woody. I'd be back tommorow to ride this trial if nothing changed....but I feel it would need a few sections tweeked for the Traditional Champ series.

Well maybe the other road racer's report from Reeth was favourable.....

The 09 will always be worth more than an 08. The 09 - new frame - will always be easier to sell.....
Having made the switch - but also gone from 250 to 300 - I'd say get the 09. Chassis feels more stable, more "planted".
It keeps a line better, less deflection & gives the rider confidence it'll absorb the hit & stay on line.
Easier to work on - tidier & more room.
Only slight downside is it feels a little heavier on the front - but maybe that's a 300 characteristic....

Interested, will enter soon.

Did anyone see this in action?
-
Yes, the AJP 4 pot caliper is a straight swap for the troublesome Hebo caliper. I've done this on my Pampera.
-
The Keihin on my pamp has a rattly slide too.
However this goes away when throttle is opened.
So - the cure: keep it pinned.

I may have an entry in this, not sure yet. But can anyone advise (Perce?) on section severity?
Is it the level of the Classic/Traditional ACU series or nearer the Sammy Miller series standard.
I just wanna know which Gasser to bring!
-
I thought TMX coverage of this event was very poor - for a Brit Champ Trial.......
-
There is probably 3 LDTs & maybe 3 3-stage trials in the SE this year. As Scorpa 3 suggests better events lie futher afield. If you can't run to a chaepo trials bike, modify what you have. See if you can get more steering lock by grinding the stops etc. Lower grearing. You want smooth clutch feel & smooth emngine response & you'll need prpper trials tyres too. Run these at the right pressures. Know how to fix a puncture & you're there!
The biggest problem may be that Trials clubs expect all bikes to be as quiet as a trials bike is..........
